Didn't he shoot his dog when he killed himself?

Well, he didn't shoot the dog, when he was in the bunker with his wife and general, there was only minuets left till the Russians would discover where Hitler was. So he brought out some old Cyanide and tested it on the dog to see if it still worked. Either that or the dog killed everyone in the bunker, then itself. We may never know.

What they were going to do to him/his dog would be worse than death

Nope. He poisoned her and her puppies to test the cyanide he and Eva Braum were supposed to use on themselves.

You know, I may actually be thinking of Goebbel's dogs. I know he tested the poison he and his family used to kill themselves.

Could've SWORN the book I've got said Hitler poisoned Blondie and her pups, though.

And? The dog was going to die anyway. It's not like the Russians would show sympathy for his four-legged friend. Haven't you read 'Of Mice and Men'?

Of Mice and Men is set in California. What does that have to do with what the Russians would do with Hitler's dog?

Dunno if you've read the book fully, so here's a spoiler warning.

Candy had an old dog that had to be put down because it was obviously in pain. He didn't want to do it himself, so another guy offered do shoot it. I think it was the boss. When the dog was dead, Candy said to George "I wish I had shot it myself", referring to the fact that it was his dog and his doing. After Lennie kills Curley's wife, George shoots Lennie himself, not letting Curley and his posse do it, thinking of what Candy told him.

What I meant to say was: Hitler wanted to deal the destiny to his own dog when it was inevitable that both would die anyway.

I was referring to the book. I've seen the movie too. One of the best adaptions I've ever seen.

I didn't know you could read movies.
