What is this supposed to illustrate? A rich mogul vs a contingent of inferior people? What is this, Animal Farm? And to put the cherry on the icing, we have to "Wake Up"? Well thanks for your enticing offer Mr Marx, but I'm afraid I'd prefer to stick to my society, where hard work and diligence actually gets rewarded.
User avatar #232 to #229 - Hentaifan (12/29/2012) [-]
I'm not completely sure, but I think the people near the bottom might be politicians. I think it's trying to illustrate the power that company CEOs have over politicians.
User avatar #237 to #232 - kolsinder (12/30/2012) [-]
Still though, why would you take the liberty of illustrating the obvious? Are there still people out there who haven't grasped the simple concept of money = sovereignty = power?
User avatar #238 to #237 - Hentaifan (12/30/2012) [-]
You'd be quite surprised actually. Some people still believe that if they help the rich people that the rich people will in turn help them.
People still believe that the person you vote for truly matters, when all you're really voting for is "which company's motives do you want to back up?"
User avatar #239 to #238 - kolsinder (12/30/2012) [-]
Well to some extent, rich people do help others, but that would be starving orphans who need money for basic needs, not to mention that not everyone is a philanthropist. What pisses me off the most is the vicious cycle third party candidates get trapped in, ie. I won't vote for them because no one else votes for them. Just imagine how wonderful it would be if everyone colluded and voted for a third party candidate in the elections. Now I don't live in America and neither do I actually know anything about third party politics, but wouldn't this be the ultimate democracy test?
User avatar #240 to #239 - Hentaifan (12/30/2012) [-]
That's the problem though, in order to be widely known a 3rd party candidate has to have some sort of publicity, which they almost never do. And when you vote for someone that only about 5-10% of the voting population knows about, you're essentially wasting your vote. Should they not vote for that person? Eh, it doesn't really matter. In the end you're still just choosing the piece of crap that looks the best.

Damn, reality sure is depressing.

Someone who's good at chess explain if this is possible or not for the small side to win. I'm curious.
#227 to #222 - arkbound (12/28/2012) [-]
it's possible, but the other player would have to be an idiot to let it happen.
#226 to #222 - anonymous (12/28/2012) [-]
this is possible if the other side is a friging retard and loses on purpose.

Yeah, we should totally abandon the corporations and see how long we last without them.
User avatar #224 to #213 - norfolk (12/28/2012) [-]
Eh, I agree. A lot of people hate corporations just because they're corporations. They seem to apply a lot of stereotypes for Liberals who claim to be against doing so.

I hate how a few corporations have given "business" a bad name. Not all corporations are bad, but it seems like don't people trust them, even if they haven't done anything in particular to make themselves untrustworthy.
But maybe I'm just talking out of ass...

In songs, I've noticed. Some artists tell the listener to go to sleep, and others tell the listeners to wake up.
Whats that about?

Nice picture, not completely accurate but it's 'kay. The title is a little upsetting, we all know about that, no need to tell us to wake up.
#197 - anonymous (12/28/2012) [-]
OMG fak off OP.
#196 - TurtleOnItsBack (12/28/2012) [-]
This is a political cartoon, so obviously certain traits are going to be exaggerated. Yes, big business is doing a lot of harm to this country. People do not realize that because we like to think that capitalism is our friend and would rather blame the government. All this cartoon is doing is showing that the government really is trying to help us, not hurt us. No need to get a loose butthole over it.
#193 - anonymous (12/28/2012) [-]
in all my years of living (which isn't that long retrospectively) i have learned that the US government and the big corporations are not evil or manipulative. they are in fact just a bunch of charismatic idiots that thought they knew what they were doing.
sure the corporate CEOs know how to turn a profit and the politicians know how to win votes, but neither know how your average person goes about their lives, but they think they do.
so there is no evil plan to take over the world or force everyone into slavery via copious amounts of debt (because that would be stupid seeing as if everyones in debt than currency becomes useless and than everyone is poor). so you just need to calm down and come to terms with the fact that somewhere down the line, we the people ****** up and allowed idiots into power and now we are foolishly allowing them to stay in power because the common is also an idiot. if you want to fix it, the answer isnt communism or anarchy as some would like to believe. no, the answer is simply getting up off our collective asses to vote for responsible people who know what they're doing and spending our money responsibly.
