well the number of people in the room is the number of versions
some say he tried to overthrow god other say he hated humans, gods perfect creation and god sent him to hell because of that ,some say he tried to make all angels equal to god and create a more democratic heaven,in all the versions he was the most powerful and shining and beautiful angel (wasnt that hard some had 4 heads and 6 wings and looked like tall snakes by some versions)

From what I've learned the devil was an angel but he pretended to be God, so God got mad and sent him to hell. But I've read the bible like once. SO i'm probably not the most reliable source of information when it comes to this.

he didnt pretend to be god. he wanted to be god, the first sin JEALOUSY brought him to lie to adam and eve. hell by definition is a place in which god doesnt exist. so basically satan, the most beatiful of angels was cast out of the kingdom of heaven. hope this helps. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Knowledge of a fiction story doesn't increase my power at all.

You can learn a lot from fiction.

This story isn't actually in the bible, but here it goes. (FYI: This is all just the Catholic Churches belief)

The devil was one of gods angels, one of the most powerful in fact. He was so powerful that he challenged god for the "throne" and a war in heaven broke out, God and the angels Vs. Lucifer (the devil) and the renegades. When God finally won, he cast out Lucifer to hell for all eternity, and all the angels that fought for him were cast out as well and ended up following Lucifer and became what we know of as demons. (Source: attended a catholic church for the better part of my young life)

well... if its not in the bible, in anyway. chances are its not true. however it does say in the bible that satan was jealous and wanted gods power, so in anger he corrupted gods most amazing creation. man

That is also wrong. In a previous version of the bible, Lucifer was God's right hand angel. God left one day (for unknown reasons) and left Lucifer in charge. He went mad with power and refused to give the throne back. He had angels that followed him loyally and fought along side of him, but they were cast into hell along with him. Satan and Lucifer are different beings, the names are not interchangeable. Yet, god is omniscient, meaning he had to have known Lucifer would go mad with power. Yet he still left him in charge. I believe that god did it on purpose. God's a ******* dickhead.

in all honesty, I've heard that version along with several others, and my picture pretty much explains the difference. I was just putting out the version that I had learned.

Yeah, there's no way to prove which way is correct and which isn't. So, there's no use arguing about something that could possibly be a load of bunk. It could also be true. The one you said could be true, the one I said could be true, I don't think anyone will ever know.

How does God just "leave" 2/10 try again
User avatar #9 to #8 - heartlessrobot (12/26/2012) [-]
It wasn't explained how or why. You expect religion to make sense? 0/10 you try again.

first of all that story is found in a poem not the bible... its called paradise lost by John Milton. secondly the story of Adam and Eve wasnt told by Jesus, its found in the Old Testament
