Girls und panzer, my friend.
that's the name. Girls und panzer.
Pretty nice, only issue so far is the (sorta) uneccesary german words in the subs (even though it's an english sub)
but there are subs withou it, so no fear.
#48 to #34 - anon (12/24/2012) [-]
If I'm not mistaken, there are 2 subs in that set, the one with german words is kind of a joke. In VLC you can change which subs you want in one of the options.

the Tiger would have ****** everything when the engine would have been good enough for this monster
#10 to #7 - kainhall (12/24/2012) [-]
meh... 100MM for non sloped frontal armor would have been very easy for a M4a3E2 to match, and if upgunned with the planed 90mm.... it would have made the tiger look liek a sherman, and a sherman feared like a tiger. the american 90MM was a hell of a gun.

if they would have jsut made ONLY pz4H or G2 models...like, standardized production like we did with teh sherman... they might have been able to match our production of shermans... and sence a G2 was already getting...for lack of better words... a positive K/D ratio... it would have worked out pertty ***** for old america.

German company, they build sport cars nowadays, back in WWII they built tanks like the Tiger P(orsche), but their tanks weren't succesfull. They had a strong armor and a ******* huge gun, but the engine and tracks failed too often.
User avatar #89 to #52 - scorcho (12/24/2012) [-]
i was just confused about the wrong spelling.
#56 to #52 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
It wasnt really the tracks that failed.

Dr. Porsche was a bit ahead of his time. If you want to get technical he created the first hybrid armor vehicles. The Ferdinand(aka the Elephant) and the Tiger Porsche were using an electric drive on the drive wheels(hence drive cogs on the front and back) The problem was is that the Tiger P and the Ferdi were so heavy that the drive motors would overheat and light on fire. The Germans found this out the hard way during the Battle of Kursk(and it pretty much was the only way to stop the Ferdinand was to either get up to it point blank and molotov the **** out of it,or let it get stuck and kill itself)

Or just praying to whatever Deity that the Soviets had and hoping the SU-152s massive howitzer could land a shot on the thing.

The Tiger P and the Tiger H share the turret(and the turret would have been used on one of VK prototypes using the same hybrid drive) But Hitler didnt like the Tiger P as much as he did the H,and thus, the only Tiger Ps to be completed became command tanks, while the rest of the hulls became the Ferdinands.
#75 to #56 - cristalx (12/24/2012) [-]
The tracks were a missconception too, they got stuck in mud more often then other tanks that weight that much (Russian kv-2).

Did the Ferdinand have 2 engines like all the other Porsche tanks? I'm not sure right now.

I'd love to visit the Tank Museum in Bovignton, here in germany the tank museum in Munster isn't bad, but there restoration of the King Tiger and JagdPzIV arent that good :/

Merry Christmas from Germany btw :)
#82 to #75 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
well, not really, the problem was is the electric motors didnt have enough torque to shovel the tank along, the Ferdinand was much heavier than the chassis could origonally handle,so it would bog down and hte engines and motors would overheat.

The Ferdinand has two engines that are air cooled just like the Tiger Porsche(all they did was slap the armored superstructure on top and add a gun)

The KV-2 had a habit of toppling over if they tried to fire it on a hill. But the KV-1/2 were quite problematic as the lighter tanks couldn't do much other than piss it off.

Merry Christmas from the states :)

The Sturmtiger and its smaller brother the Brumbar were built to knock down buildings :P Not kill tanks, but I do imagine a shell from either would seriously ruin your day.

User avatar #61 to #59 - ishalltroll (12/24/2012) [-]
I think I remember reading a story about a Sturmtiger obliterating 4 T-34 tanks at the same time using a single round.
******* 380mm rounds can ruin your day.
#64 to #61 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
Depending on whose version you find, there's one of a pair of them knocking out an entire platoon of them in one shot from both. Were they used in combat? Probably. Were they effective? Probably. But thats if the rocket landed.

But I wouldn't want to crew either the Brummbar or the Sturmtiger. They were heavy demolitions tanks, like the Churchill AVRE.

What about a 600mm mortar that couldn't move faster than a few kilometers per hour?
#81 to #65 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
Well,Id feel bad for the poor saps under that shell.

I just think Hitler was overcompensating.
#83 to #81 - ishalltroll (12/24/2012) [-]
Ya know those weren't the heaviest trainborn cannons...
Schwerer Gustav, rode on twin train tracks and had a caliber of 800mm.
Gotta have those supergigantic cannons.
User avatar #84 to #83 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
Yeah I couldnt think of the name and I just grabbed the Paris gun.

Hitler was overcompensating for a very tiny penis I guess.

Still, such a logistical nightmare these things must have been :/
User avatar #86 to #84 - ishalltroll (12/24/2012) [-]
They had to build the traintracks they rode on just to get them to the frontline.
Where they were only used very few times, firing at the Maginot-Line for example.

Well there was a reason that Tiger variant made by Porsche was abandoned and they used the one designed by Henschel. (but still they used Tiger P hulls for making Ferdinands and Elefants). So yeah, anime might be right with these
#67 to #47 - thamuz ONLINE (12/24/2012) [-]
well, the Tiger P was still completed(several at least) and they were turned into command tanks. It is unknown what has happened to any of the Tiger P tanks. If they have survived, they are hiding pretty goddamned well.
