Normally I don't repost. but this was way too funny and I felt like sharing. Besides, we haven't had almost any "Hobbit" content. www.cad-comic.com/ca

Bilbo is supposed to be like 50 though. He was in the book at least.
User avatar #84 to #3 - jerichowatch (12/22/2012) [-]
along those lines, most of the dwarves were at least 70 as well.
User avatar #112 to #84 - MandiMarie (12/22/2012) [-]
Yeah, I think it is almost 300 years between the time when Smaug takes over the Lonely Mountain, and the time at which the Hobbit takes place. So at least Thorin, and I think it was Balin that was with him since that time, are over 300. And the others aren't much younger.
User avatar #113 to #3 - finni (12/22/2012) [-]
He was. They said also in the movie "60 years earlier" and that was the day Bilbo turned 111 or something like that
User avatar #115 to #113 - MandiMarie (12/22/2012) [-]
Oh yeah, his eleventy-first birthday :p

The just live longer, Frodo was 34 when he went on his quest.
User avatar #13 to #12 - djbagboy (12/21/2012) [-]
No, he was 50.
He got the ring when he was 34, he didn't want to leave until he was 50, to honour Bilbo.
User avatar #32 to #13 - admiralen ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
actually he left then because it took gandalf 20 years to go back and forth and research the ring

Actually, Gandalf only wanted to give him the F.

because in the movie gandalf puts a magical symbol that resembles the letter F

Some major "Deal With It" going on right there
User avatar #98 - ewowo (12/22/2012) [-]
Yeah. Bilbo's totally a little boy.

He's 51 years old at the start of The Hobbit.
User avatar #101 to #98 - hkd (12/22/2012) [-]
It's what Jackson missed out from the LOTR trilogy - Frodo's initial companions (And himself though he didn't age with the ring) were all well over 50 when they set off.
User avatar #103 to #101 - ewowo (12/22/2012) [-]
I wouldn't say Jackson missed out on it. I get that it's not very interesting to show a bunch of old protagonists, and one could argue that their appearance is simply very young. He never actually mentions their age in the movies.

I would say that it's most of the movie's viewers that miss out on this.
User avatar #105 to #103 - hkd (12/22/2012) [-]
Fair enough. I do think Peter Jackson made the story a lot more concise. I liked a lot of the stuff he cut out that didn't have any purpose, but did Bombadil really have to go? :P
User avatar #106 to #105 - ewowo (12/22/2012) [-]
Well yeah, he did.
Because, you know. He doesn't fit the movie's flavour. I really like the character but he's sort of a Hobbit character rather than a LOTR character.

BTW I like how he drew the line between the Hobbit and LOTR while preserving the Hobbit's original atmosphere.

The Hobbit doesn't have any free tickets at my local cinemas 'til tomorrow, so I haven't seen it yet. :(

Start of the hobbit. If you've seen or read it.

Gandalf comes to Bilbo's house and invites him to go on an adventure because Gandalf knew Bilbo when he was a mischievous little kid and thought it would be fun.

I had a slight idea that was the joke, thanks for clearing things up :D Here's a bunny falling backwards
