No, I was told we lost the war, OP just doesn't know what he's talking about. Don't go thinking everyone was told we won the war just because one person said we won...

I'm pretty sure OP meant that the victory that he won was at the Battle of New Orleans, not the war itself. (Hence the reason why he said "even though war was supposed to be over")

He only said Jackson won a battle against British forces in a war that was already over. He didn't say who won the war

really, neither side won. and it wasn't Canada yet either. it was just a region in the empire. So Canada could never claim to win, because they didn't exist to fight a war

Good ol AJ was the only president without a national debt. He did not take money and give it to private banks, because he believed in total separation of the government from the private sector (of which he considered the bank to be part of) and therefore merely killed the national bank by vetoing the bill to renew it

Where did you pull the information out of? your ass? I'm assuming you didn't pay attention in US history in high school because Jackson opposed a national bank meaning he didn't support having the same currency used by everyone in the country.

Guess ******* what? today, we all use the same currency. If **** was still run his way, we'd had multiple constantly fluctuating currencies run by rich assholes

Jackson supported private banks that were run by extremely rich white man which monopolized money in their state. They printed their own currency which ****** their own local government up because in reality 10,000 dollars in some random banks money can be converted to 1 dollar in a bank in Massachusetts.

I cant believe this guy is seriously thumbed up.

using the same currency is irrelevant. His opposition for a national bank was merely based on its lack of constitutionality, a concept which he actually nailed on the bulls-eye.

jackson supported the private banks ideologically, but never directly "supported" them. The fact that private banks at the time were monopolized by rich whites cant be placed on Jackson's shoulder's, that is simply due to the socio-economic trends of the time.

but this was not always the case, particularly in the trans-Appalachian frontier, where poor whites were able to get-rich-quick as wildcat bankers

alright maybe i worded strangely. when i said "nation in debt" i was speaking of the nation's people.
he put national bank money into local banks that supported him, called "pocket banks" and was all part of the spoils system he loved so. because, as anon said though i dont like how hostile he was toward you, rich white men owned the banks and ****** over every citizen looking to invest in them.
yeah the national treasury stayed afloat for his presidency, but the common citizen was having it rough because of those pocket banks.

I love you, with one exception, while I'm not sure about the national bank then, the National Reserve of today is an entirely private corporation which was made by the government and was given control over the nation's printing presses.

I prefer the story of the assassination attempt where someone missed Jackson twice with pistols at close range and was subsequently beaten with Jackson's cane.

Another funny one. Recently a special edition coin was printed (real currency) with the head of JFK on it.

Funny because JFK tried to dismantle the Fed. Mere months before he went to Dallas where he got assassinated he set in motion executive order 11110.
