Because Critics take themselves WAY to serious and think they are way more important that they are. I mean, there are even those, who say the BOOKS are bad. Critics suck in 95% of the Cases

alot of critics who dont know **** about the hobbit are angry that the wargs and orcs didnt look as brutal, but they obviously dont know that they are not raised for war at this point in the timeline. Wargs are very similar to wolves, and they arent being kept in the pits of isengard and attacking each other constantly. orcs for the most part are leaderless and arent training entirely for war, more survival. there was alot of CG, but it was done beautifully. I hate all critics. ever.

== The game of riddles was especially amazing too, and the escaping the Goblin King place was incredible==
User avatar #101 to #91 - ljxjlos (12/15/2012) [-]
Definitely, the game of Riddles was perfectly done. I love how Gollum behaves/moves, Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis and the Animators did a ******* perfect Job. Even better then in the LotR-Movies, at least what Gollum is concerned.

Also, the End of the Chase. I died from Laughter. Took a Necromancer to bring me back.
User avatar #103 to #101 - mattmuch (12/15/2012) [-]
I loved the part in the Game of Riddles where it started and Gollum just goes "And if we win, we eats you whole" whilst smiling and looking all serious.
User avatar #107 to #103 - ljxjlos (12/15/2012) [-]
Jup. The Movie was good at whole, but the Riddles where just perfect exactly how I imagined them to be. Also, Radagast. God, they did that Guy good. I´m pumped as hell for Part II.

User avatar #114 to #107 - mattmuch (12/15/2012) [-]
I thought he was portrayed as a little too crazy. I did jump at that part where he suddenly came out of nowhere on his sleigh, I was not expecting it, and I loved "These are Rhosgobel rabbits, let's see them try!"
User avatar #119 to #114 - ljxjlos (12/15/2012) [-]
I loved the extreme way they portrayed him, felt a bit like a reminiscence towards Tom Bombadil. Jup, that was another comedic jewel...
User avatar #121 to #119 - mattmuch (12/15/2012) [-]
Oh God, Tom Bombadil, I was so pissed off that he wasn't in films, he is easily the best character in the whole of Middle-Earth.
User avatar #148 to #121 - ljxjlos (12/15/2012) [-]
Yeah, he is just. Boss. Really.D But I guess, as much as I hated that he was left out, in the aftermath, I think it was the right thing to do. His Character wouldn´t have fit into the overall Atmosphere of the Films. Still, I would have loved if they had like 20 Minutes extra on the Extended Editions, featuring the chapter about good ol´ Tom and the Barrow Downs... and 30 more about the Cleansing of the Shire, another awesome chapter that was left out:/

It's realllllllllyyyy fucckkkkin good, especially if you've read the book, which is not often the case. Even the prologue got me psyched up. Although prepare for Frodo looking and sounding completely different from lotr.

the only problem i had with it is that they overdid the cgi, to much of that and not enough costumes like in LotR, with the enemies at least

User avatar #129 - mrmask ONLINE (12/15/2012) [-]
watched it yesterday, it was really awesome...
one thing that was the same in the original LOTR...
why not use the eagles from the start?
#152 to #129 - feelythefeel (12/15/2012) [-]
1.) The Eagles are not Gandalfs pets. They're independent creatures that only help people that they like that are in need, and then only if they feel like it. Plus, at this point, power wise, Gandalf is about equal with their king, maybe a bit less so, meaning he doesn't have that power aspect to go with.

2.) If Bilbo had skipped that entire trip, he never would have been prepared for dealing with Smaug and the War of Four Armies. He would have no combat experience, no burgling experience, no Sting and no ring.

Gandalf likely was aware of both of these things. As they say, a Wizard is never late, he arrives precisely when he means to.
#156 to #152 - mrmask ONLINE (12/16/2012) [-]
that actually made sense... and my friends told me it was because fantasy movies don't need to make sense because it's all about beheading and cool battles (obviously I told them they are fools and its about much more).
but this only explains the hobbit, what about the original trilogy? oh great Internet user, please grant me your wisdom.
#158 to #156 - feelythefeel (12/16/2012) [-]
I haven't read the original trilogy for a while, ans it's been a fair deal of time since I've seen the movies, but here's as far as I can tell.

The reason that Frodo and Sam have to split up from everyone in the first place is so that the others can draw Saurons attention so that they can get in quietly without getting Sauron to notice them, drawing his attention outward you might say. How discrete do you think an army of Eagles would be (Especially considering that Sauron has the air advantage with control over evil birds such as crows and other flying creatures such as the Nazgûl).
