We do. However, the plastic cartons actually last more than 2 weeks. Those water-resistant paper cartons expand and weaken when the date nears,

I'd say it's in between. They are much more stable than bags and don't require any extra apparatus but you sometimes get a vacuum inside that make the milk flow out strangely.

In romania we have cartons, bags and bottles of milk (the bottle has 5L of milk in it). It's just a matter of personal preference when you buy it.

If you want to use it all at once, why would you buy a carton or a bottle?

If you are the only one who likes milk, or the only one in a house, why would you buy a Bottle of milk?

If you have a big family that drinks milk every morning, why would you buy a carton or a bag of milk?

The bag is the cheapest, so you don't buy a bottle or a carton just to throw it away.
The carton holds 1L of milk, so that it wont go bad in time.
The bottle of milk is cheaper than 5 cartons.

Although most of these have lids and a spike that pierces the bag. You don't just cut it with scissors, that's messy.
