Forgive me, but my memory's pretty **** and i haven't seen Return Of The King in a long time. Is this the deleted scene (added scene if you watch the director's cut) where legolas shoots Peter Jackson's cameo?

indeed

Honestly man, I hate how they portrayed Legolas and Gimli in the movies. They were so evenly matched in the books, and then Legolas was just god modding.

I remember Legolas being kinda noob for an elf, in fact.
User avatar #15 to #9 - CrashingSea (12/12/2012) [-]
he wasn't noob, he was pretty damn good in the books, but they just added the elephant thing in the movie for both awe factor and comedic factor. In the books they actually did have their number of kills game and even a drinking contest where Legolas somehow came up winning.

Funny I never felt Gimli was less then Legolas during any of the three movies =/

Gimli was more comedic than Legolas was in the movies, but they were pretty close aside from the elephant part and the whole running across the country bit as well.

Ah, but Legolas in the movies almost always won, and in the books for the running scene, it was actually the opposite. Gimli was the best long distance runner out of the three of them, and in the movies he's the one lagging behind.

I know... that's what I just said...

but we can't ever expect a movie being as awesome as the book. ever. pic sadly related.

compared to the book it was pretty damn close, the closest adaptation I've seen yet compared to everything else. I'm very content with how it turned out.

oh, don't misunderstand me, friend. TLoTR movies are preety damn awesome, but the book is absolutely better IMO.
User avatar #28 to #27 - CrashingSea (12/12/2012) [-]
well yes, but if you've seen the extended versions of the movies they include pretty much EVERYTHING from the book besides the forest in the first one with Tom Bombadil and at the very end of the last book where Saromon is in the Shire.
User avatar #29 to #28 - commontroll (12/12/2012) [-]
Both of which are awesome parts.
User avatar #30 to #29 - CrashingSea (12/12/2012) [-]
Eh... to me the Tom Bombadil part was kinda long and boring and the part at the end with The Shire was just a way to show how they grew in their travel but wasn't completely necessary.

Tom Bombadil, while strange, is easily one of the most awesome and badass characters. However, it would have just drawn the first movie out even more than it felt it had been already. The Battle of the Shire would have been awesome, simply because you would finally see the hobbits all fighting and being awesome, and earning a reputation in the Shire instead of being looked down on for being adventurers. Also, it would show that everybody, no matter how small, is able to fight evil, so long as they have heart.
User avatar #32 to #31 - CrashingSea (12/12/2012) [-]
that is true too.

I have to admit, I love Tom Bombadil in the book, but it would be boring an old man singing for half an hour in the movie.
Also, it's so strange... we're discussing on the internet and nobody was offended yet. I think I'm too much used to /b/.
