It depends where the icon is, really. If it's in your home or on your lawn, if you have a religious bumper sticker on your car, if there's a Christian display at a Christian school, etc., then it's more than appropriate.

It's when courthouses, public schools, and other similar structures endorse the beliefs of a single religion we start to take offense.

So, if the symbol of a unicorn showed up on a public playground, you would be offended and report it because you don't believe in unicorns? Are you offended by Disney's Hercules as well since it is based on polytheism? People need to learn the difference between being "offended" and being "irritated." If we're imposing with our religion, you have the right to ask us to stop, but saying we can't be public with our beliefs is what is really offensive.

You're incredibly misguided.

I'm not offended by Disney's Hercules just as I'm not offended by Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ or The Fiddler on the Roof. Why in the world would you assume otherwise?

I'm not suggesting your beliefs remain private. I'm explaining that it's wrong for the settings I mentioned to support specific religious views and not others.
