You do grasp the concept that the man doesn't need a job just because he lost the presidency correct? He is still FAR more wealthy than you will EVER be.

Do you grasp the concept that it's a joke, and if every joke that was ever told was serious, I will have killed around 1000 babies and burned at least 9000000 Jews?

I think it is mostly because he has upper class his whole life, as opposed to Obama, who at least was middle class when he lived in Illinois...
User avatar #165 to #113 - sirdaddysir (12/10/2012) [-]
It might be because he is rich after a predatory career of buying and using long-respected American businesses to obtain taxpayer subsidy for 'restructuring', then keeping that money, gutting the business, firing the employees, and calling it 'low overhead efficiency' when he sells it for a massive profit to his own imaginary companies... who then say 'bankrupt' and dissolve, the debt vanished with the 'corporate entity'. He has destroyed (literally now) several American cities out of greed, and now serves the interests of the Central Bank, a private and secret organization which takes 7% of the WORLD's money to compensate themselves for their horrible burden of telling governments to print it. And so many idiots think because he has been successful, he would bring success to this country... but in fact it would just put him in a better position to continue raping it. Romney is the embodiment of selfish prick, the model of modern evil, and that's why people hate him; his being wealthy is just a side effect of his throat-stomping ruthlessness. Yet there are plenty of beloved rich people, he isn't judged by his wealth.
#184 to #165 - anon (12/10/2012) [-]
Do you have any facts to back any of that up?

Nobody will take a President without proper education or extreme charisma serious. Lincoln is the closest to a poor President the US has had, as he started out as a relatively poor lumberjack. He eventually climbed to the top, but used to live in poverty.
User avatar #114 to #113 - AngryPlatypus (12/10/2012) [-]
This is what I've said the entire time. People seem to forget that Obama's worth millions too.
#116 to #114 - devilshairpiecetwo (12/10/2012) [-]
I acknowledge your point and I agree with it, but Obama presents a special case being the first black president. That in and of itself is as marketable as the Nike swoosh. Remember all the shirts with his face plastered onto the front that people of color would wear right before they carjacked you? Obama's got an unfair advantage in the marketability category.
User avatar #119 to #116 - AngryPlatypus (12/10/2012) [-]
Yeah, he won based mostly on the fact that he was black. A lot of the swing votes he got were because people would rather see "progress" socially more than economically.
#120 to #119 - devilshairpiecetwo (12/10/2012) [-]
It's a sad day for the nation when we're forced to pick between the two.
User avatar #121 to #120 - AngryPlatypus (12/10/2012) [-]
I agree. But we could have had both. The best candidate in the '12 election in my opinion was run out over some petty scandal. And he was black too!

At least he has one that he's willing to share. That puts him ahead of Romney in my honest opinion.
User avatar #126 to #125 - AngryPlatypus (12/10/2012) [-]
Yeah. I still think Romney would've been better than what we've got now, but economically, he was probably the worst of all the GoP candidates.
#127 to #126 - devilshairpiecetwo (12/10/2012) [-]
I'll leave that one alone hah. I'll certainly admit our situation could be better, but I fail to see the doom-and-gloom that a lot of people were proclaiming to be the consequences if Obama was reelected.
User avatar #129 to #127 - AngryPlatypus (12/10/2012) [-]
Well, I live in coal country, and I'll admit that we've been hit WAY harder around here than other places. Needless to say, he is not too popular around here. I'm just afraid for my local economy for the most part. I can't speak for other places, only my own. I shouldn't have generalized like that. Sorry.

No worries dude. It's refreshing to have a polite debate for once. This election did too much to polarize the country. I hate to think of what sorts of long-term effects that could have.

#16 to #12 - xmegustax (12/10/2012) [-]
That isn't the point of the picture. Everyone complains Romney is too rich, or says he is too rich to be president but I never understood what about being rich make you a bad person or unqualified to be president. But the election is over so it really doesn't matter anymore.

well the problem with it is, most people believe he only got that far in the election because of his wealth. so that's why people make fun of him. they think he's just a rich guy that doesn't actually know anything about politics. and to be honest, he doesn't really know much about managing money either. he got really lucky and invested in the right company at the right time and made a huge profit.

1. Largest economy, without it, there would be no debt, world economy would be minimal, and it sets it's own debt.
2. Stealth bombers ARE high tech, just because something crashes doesn't make it otherwise, I have no clue what you are even trying to talk about.
3. Yea, we import useless commodities like TV's, plates, and computer parts, all of which are completely unneeded and can be produced in the US at the flick of a switch.

"Those rich white Republicans are so rich and white"

To run for office you have to be incredibly rich. In the House of Representatives there are 2 year terms, which means that as soon as you're elected, you're immediately beginning your campaign to get reelected. That takes some serious cashola, and guess what,
it costs the same regardless of party
.
No modern political candidate has ever been able to truly sympathize with Joe Blow. They're all rich.

User avatar #150 - I Am Monkey (12/10/2012) [-]
I think it's pretty stupid to make a big deal out of politicians (namely Romney) trying to relate to people. Virtually all of them do it, Obama included. We're living in an age were people cast their vote for whoever they'd rather have a beer with. As ass-backwards as that may be, they have to play ball if they want to get elected. Then we cry about how our politicians suck because we picked the asshole who can act most like an "everyman" rather than a qualified leader.

It is infinitely retarded how this past election played out. Obama, a millionaire Harvard graduate successfully ran a campaign against another millionaire Harvard graduate based on how rich and out of touch the other guy was. Meanwhile, he can't name a player from his "favorite baseball team" and can't unlock an iPhone while pretending to frequent reddit. The only difference is that Romney didn't have an army of late-night hosts to call Obama out on these things.
