Am I now the only one thinking of how awesome it would be for Iron Man to have the Silver Surfer's board? It's just as badass of an idea as Batman having a GL ring.

Silver Man, or Iron Surfer?

I think Silver Man fits best. I mean... he would be silver instead of Iron. Even though he's not really iron to begin with.

Either way he'd be an over-powered, extremely high-ego'd, super-being. And awesome.

if iron man's name was accurate it would be more along the lines of GOLD TITANIUM ALLOY man.
User avatar #35 to #28 - dracory (12/07/2012) [-]
thats only his armor tho he made many kinds including war machine he would most likely still call himself ironman do to his ego being in control

" Iron Man? That's kinda catchy. Not technically accurate, since it's a gold titanium alloy"

Nice try OP

If you mixed silver surfer and iron man, it would be an alloy. That is the point OP is trying to make. Thing is, Iron man is already an alloy, being a gold titanium alloy and not in fact iron.

isn't an alloy mixed with a metal just a more complicated alloy?

technically no
an alloy is a mix of to metals for instance bronze is a mix of copper and tin
silver and iron are both pure elements

You stupid ******* asshole.
#18 to #9 - isoceles (12/07/2012) [-]
First off, you're wrong, an alloy is a metallic solid solution between any two elements. Secondly, even if your point WERE correct, Tin is an element, so your example would be wrong. You really ****** up that comment bro.

"Iron Man." Thats kind of catchy. It's got a nice ring to it. I mean, it's not technically accurate. The suit's a gold-titanium alloy, but it's kind of evocative, the imagery, anyway.

ever think of how bad of an idea that would be? i mean, it would be ridiculously expensive (obviously a non-issue for Mr Stark) and as far as metals go, gold isn't particularly strong. its really malleable, with a comparatively low melting temperature. I understand it's a work of fiction, and it does sound badass, but it just doesnt really make sense, y'know?
User avatar #32 to #21 - lyiat ONLINE (12/07/2012) [-]
Keep in mind that this is a universe that possesses a shield made out of a vibranium-adamantium alloy that is somehow strong enough to withstand a blow from Mjolnier, the legendary hammer of a viking storm god. **** don't need too much more explanation.
User avatar #59 to #32 - ctsasquatch (12/07/2012) [-]
As long as you count the kinetic energy from Mjolnir's impact as a form of vibration (which the shield is built to absorb to strengthen itself) then there's no problem.

But I agree that your main point of "it's fictional, dude" still stands.
User avatar #31 to #21 - sniffalot (12/07/2012) [-]
I believe it was originally a steel-titanium alloy but as he got to high in the sky the metal would ice over and he changed it to gold-titanium alloy in model of one of his satellite designs to fix the "icing problem".
User avatar #63 to #21 - divinecreator (12/07/2012) [-]
the malleability of the gold probably distributes energy better than a stiffer metal
User avatar #22 to #21 - beamersmack **User deleted account** (12/07/2012) [-]
The fiction suggests that a gold-titanium alloy is stronger than that.
