You know what this means, right?

Not even pics can prove it has happened.

1) Take random pictures
2) Claim that they are paintings

Now don't get me wrong, I've never like hyper realism or traditional realism all too much.

I always thought art was about creating and expression, unless it's glorious why recreate something you could just take a picture of? I think it's kind of a waste.

It's cool and all, but I like paintings that not only show reality, but how that reality made you feel and all it inspired. Realism is great, but not really my favorite.
User avatar #97 to #62 - uzzwick (12/06/2012) [-]
Exactly. In your example over there, for example, someone has expressed how it feels to be high as **** .
User avatar #104 to #97 - infinitereaper (12/07/2012) [-]
If it feels as good as that looks you can count me in.
User avatar #63 to #62 - nalenthi (12/06/2012) [-]
I was thinking the same thing, I mean, why bother drawing ordinary objects in hyper realism when you can just take a photo? Painting without expression is boring.

It looks more real than a photography

Why doesnt he paint something that looks real like that but doesnt actually exist. Like a mythical creature or stargate or something lol
User avatar #71 to #69 - justtoobasic (12/06/2012) [-]
Because some can draw realistic but only draw certain things. His case, apparently, being only drawing existing **** .
User avatar #72 to #71 - noworries (12/06/2012) [-]
if he is that good... he can do it! lol
User avatar #82 to #72 - ewowo (12/06/2012) [-]
He won't. Because he belongs to artistic genre called Hyperrealism.

It has the word real in it.
#79 to #72 - juffs (12/06/2012) [-]
I agree. If he can make these look so impeccable, he should be able to do a dragon pretty good e-goddamn-nough.
User avatar #93 to #79 - ICEDgrunge (12/06/2012) [-]
A lot of artists are only limited to very certain and constrained forms of drawing and painting, I certainly bet the man's tried to go out of his zone and do things from mythical genre's, but sometimes artists simply cannot do it. I find that to be a very hard concept to grasp, but I've seen it happen so many times, and it's easier to say that they should be able to do it based on what they're good at, but they just mentally can't perform it as they could with their safety zones in art, as they've never spent as much time in that genre as they did in what they're best at.
#95 to #93 - juffs (12/06/2012) [-]
I don't expect it to be even close to on this kind of level, but one would think he'd still be able to crank out some incredible fantasy stuff
#100 to #95 - ICEDgrunge (12/06/2012) [-]
Yeah I know what you're saying, I have a friend of mine who's a good artist, not great, but he's good enough to deserve compliments, he can really stretch out abstractness in his art and still keep it within realms of reality if you get what I'm saying, all of it comes from his imagination and he never needs a reference. Then there's his aunt, who is such a better artist than him in certain ways, she can re-draw a picture, she re-drew the one I posted here, and it was absolutely wonderful, perfect in every way, but the problem is, she needs a reference to ever make a work of art, she can't tap into her imagination and put it on paper as good as she can with something already given, that's where my friend beats her by nine square miles. that' where I'm basing what I'm saying with Campos. But I would still like to see him try doing something from fantasy. Sorry if I'm wasting your time by making you read all of this friend, it's not necessary but I just had to post it cos' of my retardedness.
User avatar #73 to #72 - justtoobasic (12/06/2012) [-]
Indeed, oh well. Maybe he just doesn't fancy the fantasy style. Realism might be his only game. There are several aspects we can coincide with this phenomenon.. .but, this ******* be good.

... Well, it's not like they look interesting, but its skilled as **** . People like this should use their powers for awesomness, like painting something so it looks photoshopped. Saw this super realistic painting with a woman holding tubes, and lines of paints swirled around

There are two parts of art: One is technical skill, the other is creativity. You can the greatest of creativity and lots of ideas, but little technical skill. This is the other extreme. Its talent, probably in the greatest end of the scale. If this is not talent, then you have something off. Of course, everyone with lots of dahm practice and patience could make something exactly like it..

Me too.. When i draw anything, i make sure to try and make it my own. For an example, all these ezio drawings with him in that same pose. I look at it and think 'talented, but its not yours'. A girl replicated a watercolor drawing. First try with it, and she got better at it. Too bad the drawing isnt hers. A girl drew a very nice cheetah in black and white pencil. She put a pang color in the background. That's hers.
I think the meaning of art is to 1) realize an artists visions. 2) bring satisfaction to the artist. 3) Make people think. Make them think wow, or what, or huh, or hah. I like to make people question things

Creating is quite amazing. You start off with a blank page, and after some days, you got your vision out in real life, you can show it to others, you can enjoy it.
I'll go to my drawing team and paint Data and Georgie. I really feel like painting em. I want to see a painting with em, so i'll make one

I'd feel like beating the first master in heartgold, if it didnt mean that i'd need to train all the other teammembers and get an ice type.. I can beat all the elites with one pokemon, but the dragons **** it up

I just wanna catch them all. Problem is that i cant find out who's gonna be on my team. I suppose theres new pokemon on the other side so i can fill out the vacant places, but that means i need to beat the elite with 4 pokemon, or train up some disposable

The amount of human error--however little--will make a picture with even the most amazingly fast shutter speed appear slightly blurry and unfocused compared to this.

Why should i fix it? This is hyper realism. Two hyper realism painters could paint the same motive hyper realistic, and since both of them are hyper realism both of them would look real and alike. Artistic abilities in painting isnt restricted by much, so if you practiced this technique for a long time, you'd be able to replicate it
User avatar #52 to #37 - thegrohltroll (12/06/2012) [-]
I can't actually see the point of it, to me, art is expressing yourself, so what are you expressing by this? you're not creating anything, you're just copying. I mean would you rather have starry night hanged in your living room ore this?
User avatar #103 to #52 - thegrohltroll (12/07/2012) [-]

Man, isn't art about like expression of self?

How are you expressing anything if you're just like copying life?
User avatar #49 to #46 - furrypuppy (12/06/2012) [-]
It's hyper-realism (Or super-realism). The aim is not to express oneself, but to create something more realistic than it actually is.

Can you sense my angst? It took me 4 weeks to make and during the process the only thing I ate was banana peels soaked in jack daniels.
