If you have a political poll on a liberal website, the poll is always going to be in favor of the liberal option.
The only reason MLP would ever be on the top is if it was linked in forums more.
Because I honestly believe if all of America had a vote, neither Dr. Who or MLP would win.

Like they'd have put MLP on the cover even if it won by a landslide.
Not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just that it's a show made for kids, it's not accepted as a show for adults in most circles.
I would get laughed out of my family for watching it, which is lucky, because I've watched the first 3 episodes and didn't like it.
I've never heard of Brits watching though, and I'm Scottish.

''it's just that it's a show made for kids, it's not accepted as a show for adults in most circles.''

... and you are implying that Doctor Who is otherwise?

I'm Scottish also, and I loved Doctor Who when I was a kid. I'd say it's on roughly the same grounds as MLP: a show targeted towards kids but where adults can also enjoy.

Doctor Who isn't a children's show, there were complaints and people tried to have it banned in the 80s because it was on TV early enough for children to watch, and it was scary.
It's popular amongst children now, and I'd say that Matt Smith definitely seems to be better geared towards children (his constant enthusiasm), but the shows not aimed towards children.
On the other hand, My Little Pony, is aimed not just at children, but at little girls, and I don't think it has the same likeability amongst adults.
It has a big fan-base online, but I really don't see that fan-base lasting too long.

I don't see Doctor Who as lasting very long. It's gone downhill considerably. The fanbase are also generally annoying ***** who act as though Doctor Who is some big new TV show or something, despite the latest incarnation being out for almost several years now. Once the fanbase actually catch up with watching all the episodes, it will most likely disapear.
User avatar #219 to #215 - defeats (12/04/2012) [-]
Dr Who has already lasted almost 60 years (1963), Friendship is Magic started in 2010.
Whether Dr Who is considered a dying show or not, my opinion is that it'll last out MLP.
Maybe not the MLP brand, because little girls will always love that.
User avatar #222 to #219 - Bohya (12/04/2012) [-]
I disagree. Both shows will continue to create episodes so long as there is a large enough fanbase who will watch it, and both fanbases will continue to exist so long as they keep creating more episodes. There is no sign of either show or fanbase grinding to a halt anytime soon but Doctor Who has gone on for so long now that I don't see it as being sustainable. It is getting stale. My Little Pony on the other hand is still a young show and it has plenty of space to grow. Additionally, it is easily marketable. In all my time I have seen very little Doctor Who merchandise and cannot imagine how it is in anyway feasably marketable beyond the selling of DVDs.

Honestly I would not put mlp on my magazine's cover at any point. Society would not understand and it would have a low profit.

They voted 9% for each doctor, so mathematically speaking Doctor Who is ******* awesome.
#28 - craigdavid (12/03/2012) [-]
its because in the real world,my little pony is considered a child's show, regardless of what you or anyone else thinks that is the popular opinion, whereas doctor who is an amazing show with top actors, and a legacy thats probably older than the creator of mlp herself
User avatar #119 to #28 - pokemonstheshiz (12/04/2012) [-]
Idk how old Dr. Who is, but the creator of MLP is 36

Quick Wiki - First Dr.Who episode aired in 1963.
Soo.. 49 years ago.
Dr Who is indeed older then MLP's creator.

its fairly old
User avatar #410 to #408 - pokemonstheshiz (12/06/2012) [-]
I was already informed. Age doesn't really matter though.
#411 to #410 - craigdavid (12/06/2012) [-]
i know you were, i read it

i just thoguht id back it up

and it kinda does when age generally muust mean its a popular show to have survived so long, albeit with periods where it wasnt made
User avatar #412 to #411 - pokemonstheshiz (12/06/2012) [-]
But isn't the poll about the popularity of the shows now? That would be like saying Final Destination 6(? not sure what number they're on) is really good just because the first was decently liked.
#413 to #412 - craigdavid (12/06/2012) [-]
ok before i go any further i just want to clarify im looking at this where the two shows have essentially the same number of votes, and it would be quite obvious that noone who bought their magazine would watch mlp, doctor who is clearly more appealing to a wider audience, ergo more likely to make them money
User avatar #414 to #413 - pokemonstheshiz (12/06/2012) [-]
I know, that's why they did it. Obviously they changed the results so they could make more money. I understand why they did it, I just think it's funny they had to.
#415 to #414 - craigdavid (12/06/2012) [-]
fair play, i cant fault that
User avatar #233 to #28 - daentraya (12/04/2012) [-]
Doctor is rustling my jimmies every other episode. Only seen last two doctors this far, but hell they have some stupid plots. And the robot designs looks like children designed it.. I have to skip every episode with the daleks because they ear rape me. Theres only two-three main characters, and of those i only like the Doctor because of the great actors. I highly prefer Star Trek, and i lack the big enthusiasm for Doctor who that everyone else seem to have. I cant think of it as amazing
#406 to #233 - craigdavid (12/05/2012) [-]
ive got to disagree with you on that one, i think that the story lines are close enough to being ridiculous but not quite there that it qualifies as being a great all round show
User avatar #417 to #406 - daentraya (12/06/2012) [-]
That's a delicate line to walk. For me, drawing amusement from utter stupidity works until the rage and laughter builds up and i reach a prestep to minor insanity
#419 to #417 - craigdavid (12/06/2012) [-]
i feel that its written intelligently enough and has acting to an acting standard that qualifies it as a highly credible show, maybe it just doesnt tweak your funny bone
User avatar #420 to #419 - daentraya (12/06/2012) [-]
I get mental rashes from ******** .. I can laugh at utterly silly stuff, but when it lines up to complete ******* stupid ******** , then hell no
#421 to #420 - craigdavid (12/06/2012) [-]
well it isnt quite that bad, its more plausible than star trek and star wars in lots of ways
User avatar #423 to #421 - daentraya (12/06/2012) [-]
How is it more plausible?
Seen that episode with disease zombies? There are a dozen things wrong with it
#427 to #423 - craigdavid (12/10/2012) [-]
plus i said ina lot of ways, its a ******* fictional show stop crying about innaccuraciesw, its like complaining because the storyline of that porn wasnt up to scratch
User avatar #428 to #427 - daentraya (12/10/2012) [-]
The plots sucks to put it in a simple way, and i like plot. Star Trek have it with staying in the same locations, unlike Doctor who who travels all over the place, but its just more enjoyable when your inner logician isnt going all goosnargh. Thats just my preference, with the plot and all..
#426 to #423 - craigdavid (12/10/2012) [-]
yes, because evreyone everywhere has to be a bipedal race that the captain of the enterprise is capable of shagging
User avatar #429 to #426 - daentraya (12/10/2012) [-]
Yeah, youre right. It has to be androids. Or a catface. Or ********** . Or some ridiculous looking monsters. Or witches. Actual witches. At least the 'vampires' were explained in some interesting way.
I prefer bidepal races that nr. 1 gets to **** . And data. I like Data
#126 to #28 - funnyjunknsfwsecti (12/04/2012) [-]
Regardless, it got the votes, so it should've won. MLP has amazing voice actors, writers and artists, and a legacy that's not much younger than Doctor Who (60's for DW, 80's for MLP). I ******* love Doctor Who, but if it got the votes, MLP should've won.
#409 to #126 - craigdavid (12/05/2012) [-]
i wouldnt say mlp has a legacy anywhere close to rivalling that of doctor who. if you even read through the first ffew paragraphs on wikipedia it becomes pretty evident that doctor who is one of the longest standing tv shows in the world, and has quite a long reputation. to be honest i dont really think it matters at all but you can see why having a respected show over a childrens cartoon (again that is what it is seen as by most people regardless of your veiws) would be amuch better choice for both business and the reputation of their magazine
