Pretty sure I was very young when I first saw a women breastfeeding, it's never bothered me, lived in France for 6 years, so seeing boobs in public doesn't shock me.
It really is strange when people complain about mothers feeding their babies, babies don't like cold milk so the whole "they should pack bottles" isn't the best option when travelling.
People being offended by it really are pathetic, I've never known anyone who's a parent who's offended to see it in public, so I'm going to guess it's those jealous ones who haven't had that opportunity. Guys on the other hand, I don't see why it would bother them, a crying baby is infinitely worse than seeing a a baby suck on a massive breast.

In continental Europe, boobs in public aren't illegal.
Do you even travel?

In Sweden they had topless women slowing traffic, in France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Italy I saw boobs on any public beach I went to and outdoor pools, and in the Netherlands and Germany I saw them at a festival.

Agreed. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world. Personally, I think that people who get offended by it is either a massive prude or has mummy issues.

I don't mind public breast feeding, it's natural thing and I see nothing wrong with that.
I just don't like it when the mother is just fully exposing it as a way to show how maternal she is. "hey guys! Look how caring I am! FLOP FLOP FLOP"

for a few mins? IDK if your a female that has breastfed or have any experience with it, but it can take 15-30 mins for a baby to get enough to eat.
But yes, exposed boobies vs. screaming baby... I know what I would rather have.

You use a breast pump and bottle it. Although I totally understand if you feel uncomfortable being milked, I would too. In which case, at least cover yourself with a towel.

It's offensive in American society because we have given a woman's breast sexual meaning, something which is intimate. In reality, a breast's only function is to feed babies.

Stop being a retard, bodily waste is smelly and full of disease. Milk is food and the child is drinking it and they are at a restaurant, It is completely appropriate for where they are.

Well, technically you do, hence the term "public restrooms." But, they are their own separate thing. So, if anything maybe we have "breastfeeding rooms" installed. Though, public breastfeeding rooms on the highway might get a little sketch...

While I personally plan on covering up if I ever become a mother, I don't see what the big deal is when other people don't. Breastfeeding is not disgusting or sexual.
It's much like wearing a swimsuit at the beach or pool even though it's unacceptable to wear underwear in most public places - it's all about context and intention.
User avatar #58 to #48 - roflcopterkklol **User deleted account** (12/04/2012) [-]
Covering your nipple and saying your not naked would be like me putting a finger over the tip of my dick and saying "oh it is ok the hole is covered i am not naked."

**** the nipple is not the best part of the boob.
User avatar #60 to #58 - bec (12/04/2012) [-]
I didn't say they weren't naked.
I'm saying it's about context. Showing breasts off for sexual purposes is very different to feeding a baby. If there was a need for men to have their penises out for some completely non-sexual reason, then I wouldn't have a problem with that either.
User avatar #61 to #60 - roflcopterkklol **User deleted account** (12/04/2012) [-]
So you would not mind if men started pissing in the middle of the street simply because they can?
User avatar #66 to #61 - bec (12/04/2012) [-]

User avatar #63 to #61 - defeats (12/04/2012) [-]

sexual or not we dont want to see some random chick (hotness level irrelevant) brestfeeding while we are eating. She is perfectly capable of brestfeeding the baby at home or at a private place.

Ok thanx bye
User avatar #135 to #110 - meganinja (12/04/2012) [-]
I'm sorry, but mothers don't get to choose when their baby is hungry. When it gets hungry, it wants food right then, not before, and not after it's hungry.
User avatar #137 to #135 - yunablade (12/04/2012) [-]
Well.. ok I didnt knew it has to be done in the moment, they at least should cover it with a mantle or something, many do that raw, its really akward.

And to defend my point younger kids could be at the restaurant and of course they will ask what the **** is going on. How do I tell them that the baby is a milk vampire taking the life of her mother so he can grow milk teeths ?
User avatar #139 to #137 - meganinja (12/04/2012) [-]
I have never seen a mother NOT cover up while breastfeeding her child, although you seem to have had a different experience, so I don't know what to tell you about that, they should cover themselves up.

As for the children, tell them the truth. Babies need momma milk, that's just the way things are, no need to be taboo about it.
#11 - herefortheporno (12/04/2012) [-]
I may have been about 8 when this happened but one day I was in the library, in the children's section and right there sitting on one of the computer chairs, was a woman breastfeeding. The chair was facing the entrance to the children's section.

There was a bathroom specifically made for mother's like her, about 10 yards away. I mean, at least she could've gone to the very, very back in the non-fiction children's ******** .

Or go into the adult's part of the library, which had two floors and none of them were occupied.

But no. She had to go in there and **** up my childhood.

As someone that's about to have a baby in march, I plan to breastfeed where I damn well feel like it. On the other hand, I do plan on using a breastfeeding cover or a blanket or something when in public.
But we were given a card to put in our wallets that have the Kansas laws of breastfeeding on it. It says it's 100% OK and if any store has a problem with it,there's a number to call and they will handle it for you. Things have come a long way since you were a child. Assuming your much older than 8 now.
