It's not even hard to get A's. I know people that barely show up to school and get 80's (when they shouldn't even pass). The school system is starting to baby sit people and it's ******* annoying when you work hard and show up to get and 90% on a test and people who don't show up get 80's
#141 to #128 - tastycupcakes (12/02/2012) [-]
this is true. babying children only holds them back later in life.

what school system is this?
User avatar #137 to #136 - mrcowll ONLINE (12/02/2012) [-]
Canada... Where I'm from they can't give you a lower than 30% average in a course or else you wouldn't be able to pass if you scored perfect on the final.

OCD kicking in
Why did they put the top row in backwards?

If I saw one of my students doing that I'd let them finish the test think they got away with it then fail them.

Take out calculator.

Oh no I don't see a flaw in that one, not at all... Except the fact that using calculator on biology test does rise suspicion doesn't it? Actually you can't use your calculator anywhere besides math and physics (And maybe few more classes depending on which school/college you're in)...

Not to mention that professors are not mentally retarded and that thing is obvious, if you only take one look at it... You've wasted a good calculator for that **** ? You stupid **** .

As I've said, depending on which school are you in but the fact remains that usually you don't use the calculator in 90% of your classes

Most schools here allow a calculator in every exam except the non calculator maths one since no exams actually test your ability to mentally calculate besides that one
#72 to #71 - Blasphemer (12/02/2012) [-]
And your history teacher would not find it suspicious that you keep using your calculator every five seconds?

I was about to whine about wasting calculator. But as I saw your comment, I'm gonna cooperate with thumb.

Casio Calculator: $20
Iphone: $300
Getting caught cheating in class like a dumb **** , and kicked out of College: Priceless.
For everything else there's Mastercard.

#135 - darthblam ONLINE (12/02/2012) [-]
Yeah... I'm pretty sure there are almost no situations where this would be useful.
So you've got a math test, use a regular ******* calculator.
You've got a test for anything else, everyone questions why the **** you're using a calculator. Cover blown.

why not just use your phone then?
User avatar #156 to #154 - andnowducks (12/02/2012) [-]
Because you're not aloud phones in class, and if someone comes just say you're messing around with the calculator.
User avatar #159 to #156 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]
i see... although people may question why you have a calculator it is a better cover up than saying i was just on my phone

I recently had multiple Science exams where they let you use a calculator for things that would actually be pretty easy. But yeah, I know what you mean. They'd be suspicious why you're typing so fast on the calculator too.
#158 to #155 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]

You could use it for Physics, Chemistry, or any other science that requires mathematics.
User avatar #166 to #138 - anteatereatingants (12/02/2012) [-]
This wouldn't even be useful to me in science... I have a TI-84 that comes with a periodic table, a bunch of science tools, plus I can just program in any formulas I need and type in definitions I need to remember. Much easier than trying to make the franken-calculator here.
User avatar #140 to #138 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]
oh wow, at the same time we posted near enough the same comment
User avatar #146 to #140 - thepalmtoptiger (12/02/2012) [-]
That's true, but in reality, only high school students are prohibited from cell phone use and they only have one, maybe two of these classes per year. So for this to be viable you would need to keep your Frankenstein's monster phone for a few years to justify it.
#148 to #146 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]
Im 16 and have 2 maths exams, a physics and a chemistry one is January alone

if you only have 2-3 a year i envy you very much sir, but i do see your point
User avatar #152 to #148 - thepalmtoptiger (12/02/2012) [-]
You're the exception. Most high school students have 1 science and 1 math. In NJ you are only required 3 years of each, so a lot of times you would see a senior without a math or science. People who have more than 2 math-related courses are "advanced."
User avatar #163 to #152 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]
ahh that explains it, im from the UK, we have a different educational system to you
User avatar #160 to #152 - anteatereatingants (12/02/2012) [-]
Senior here. I've never had 2 math courses in the same year, but this year I have a math and 2 math-related sciences (Physics and AP Chemistry). Even I'm considered pretty advanced. I get alot of the "OMG WTF WHYD YOU TAKE SUCH A HARD SCHEDULE"

Since when does chemistry, biology, and geography have numbers that require the use of a calculator to figure out?
Physics I can understand and agree with.. but the others? Yeah.. chemistry has some math but nothing I've seen that would need a calculator...
#203 to #187 - anon (12/02/2012) [-]
chemistry involves tonnes of questions with numbers i'm guessing you didn't go past GCSE in the sciences.
User avatar #190 to #187 - holeymoley (12/02/2012) [-]
for my exams that i did last year we were told to bring a calculator for all sciences, maths and geography

i think the biology calculator question involved **** like exponential growth of bacteria and how it could be affected by antibiotics and stuff

just speaking out of experience, i dont know how it is where you are
