I only got a DPMS rifle. I never got an ACOG scope.

Using a scope in combat has advantages, mostly it aids in target identification, but it also allows for crude rangefinding and ballistic compensation out to 800 meters.

Every soldier in the Army is trained to use iron sights, then when deployed some are given an ACOG to aid in killing the enemy.

I prefer iron sights on many rifles, but when I was in Afghanistan, I was glad I had an ACOG.

dude, most of us just use guns in the shooting range or at the woods for hunting, if i were in a war of course i would use a scope because its easier and better and has advantages, but when shooting for fun i won't use it

I see the best of both worlds. Iron sights are pretty freakin' cool, but your guns probably shoot better than you can see anyways, so why not have one with a decent scope on it?
