Books to movies. i have a lot of book-related comics, so I'm sharing. Home Hollywood Converts Novels into Movies. WWZ looks horrible. They've completely missed the whole point of the book.

Except for LOTR and Life of Pi. They left some stuff out of both, but they still did really well with condensing a whole book into a less than 3 hour movie.

Yeah, I'll never say anything bad against LOTR. The movie adaptation was very well done. Watched the whole extended edition last week. Quality work.

Now, say, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ...

You know, I don't think the movie adaptation of Hitchhiker's was that bad. I enjoyed it, I'm not saying it was good, but I did enjoy it. Really I think that those books were not made to be movies, they could only be properly enjoyed in written format.

Not to point out the blindingly obvious but Hitchhikers was an adaption of a radio play, not a book. The book was also an adaption of the radio play, as was the tv series, and technically parts of the radio play were adaptions of both the books and the tv series as well as early drafts for a movie adaption of the radio play and bits of the tv series as well as some content from the books and........ well........ It's still the best five book trilogy in the world. Adams died too soon.

It helps when the Director, Producers, Cast and Crew are fans and actually give a **** about the source material rather than piss all over it for monies (I'm looking at you Shamallamadingdong)

So the director waters down the meaning, the actors butcher the characters, the editor cuts out important stuff, and the film studio makes it a true piece of **** .

correction, what AMERICAN filmmakers do to novels. Most british movies from novels are quite accurate

Well I don't know how many people on here have read the Darren Shan Saga and seen the film, but if you haven't, I can tell you that not only is this pic true, it was a hell of a lot worse than the Avatar cock-up.

It's all about the money.....

Too much blood and gore would result in less cash ex. The Hunger Games

Or when America remake films like Ring

Wouldn't the script writers be to blame?
