For being a noob (never took classes, I'm learning on my own by searching on Google), I'm quite proud of being able to play 3 chords after 2 weeks. However, playing only 3 chords is a bit boring, I hope it'll get better when I improve.

Don't forget Kirk Hammet or even Slash.
Great songs...
But if Op's right, those 3 cords will make 3000 people burst into energy and happiness, and a jazz player who plays "3000" cords will make us more sensible, or a little bit more.
I respect both styles, and hurray for Jimmie!

That's the most painful stuff ever. People are going to remember Slash and Hammet for the longest time, yet guys like Randy Rhoads and Tony Iommi are overlooked very often. They are the ones who really made history, they influenced a lot of bands and guitarists, not Slash, not Hammet. They are above average at best. (Yet I have to agree, Hammet has SOME good solos, mostly in St. Anger)

Wow. You haven't got a clue. The album St.Anger has a huge amount of ZERO solos. This is why it is being disliked so much as it is.

He does it with one hand by hitting and then pulling the string with the same finger, making it sound like he's playing fast as hell while it is really easy. Even bad/amateur guitarists like me can do this. And no, I won't record myself playing thunderstruck just to prove a point... (not saying Angus Young isn't a great guitarist. He is awesome.)

It's extremely hard to play one-handed without muting the other strings. Go ahead and try it while headbanging.

Headbanging doesn't make fast parts hard, in fact most of the time it's used like tapping your foot for time signature.. if you try headbanging while playing something more rhythemic or slow, you're going to have a lot harder time.

He said he wanted to learn guitar so he would play when he had a girl over. He's not the greatest, he can barely maintain a decent riff, but I'm giving credit where credit is due and he's trying. Also he's been a fan of Nirvana since he was a child so I'm pretty sure he's pretty familiar with instruments.

That is a bad argument. Every backing track (also the basic backbone of rap) is in a key. There are 7 different notes that fit in to that key. Soloing is not that hard, but he sucks so hard at it they don't want to plug him in. Also, that guy is not allowed to call himself a musician if he can't even play a 3 note solo in synch with his track.

I'd like to start out by saying i love both genre's but I've always felt that rock wasn't much for the "listening" if that's how you put it but more of the feeling. You go to a rock concert to take part in it, not sit back and listen. Rock is about the energy. Jazz is more of easy listening something you go to a concert to really listen to what they may be playing. You can feel in jazz too it's just not as energetic as rock is. Rock being like hard rock or heavy metal. in ******* love with Pink Floyd though

When I think of Jazz I think of picking a car in Forza.

Funny you should put that picture up, as the title track to that album has only four chords and yet it is one of the greatest songs of all time. Not really related to your comment, but I thought it was relevant.

amount of chords doesn't decide whether or not a song is good..
