This is why I hate telling people I'm a vegan.
I just awkwardly decline all of the food they offer me, instead.

If being vegan is your thing fine, but dont tell me I'm ******* wrong for eating meat. Humans are natural omnivores, jsut look at how our teeth and digestive system is designed.

nice try but thats wrong. not all ominousness share all those characteristics. If we really were meant to be omnivours, we would not have hunted mammoths and other animals back in our primal state. back then in cold climates how do you think we got food? we certainly didnt farm. also if our body;s really were not meant to digest meat, they wouldnt, our body's would throw up the burger or steak that we are eating the second we swallowed it.
#132 to #130 - boycottcafos (12/05/2012) [-]
It's not wrong. We have the ability to eat meat obviously, but it comes at a price to our health. www.thewarhasonlyvegan.blogspot.com/p/health.html For the majority of our evolution we were vegans. As humans we ate meat out of necessity, but we no longer need to. Not everything natural is good, and fact is our bodies are more adapted to a plant based diet.

Actually look at the blog, before you insult it. It's not even really a blog, more like a database of information gathered from Cornell University, Harvard, dieticians, etc. Also, you should know doctors don't know **** about nutrition and our teeth/jaws are actually more proof that we lean most toward herbivores. Ah, and learn to spell next time you want to be taken seriously. I know some people have disorders that make it difficult for them, but please try harder next time. I mean, it even underlines words you've spelled wrong so there's not really an excuse.
User avatar #136 to #135 - IamEllis (12/12/2012) [-]
First, let me point out that you are that pathetic and desperate that you have to point out gramatical mistakes? I'm writing comments on funnyjunk, not writing a letter to the president of the united states. Also because you throw the names Harvard and Cornell out there, you automatically think I'm going to assume everything you say is right? yeha, okay! Its obvious all the publishers of that site are biased and vegans themselves. Ya smell that? it's steak tonight!

no, but the editors and authors of such articles are. and cancer? look around at all the ***** I give. No really look. LOOK. What the hell doesn't cause cancer these days? If I lived my life avoiding everything that people say causes cancer, it would hardly be living at all. I'm content with how I lived my life with little regret so if I die, I die but life goes on. One of the main reasons being that I'm not an egotisticle prick who goes around telling people that their way of life is wrong so suck a dick
#139 to #138 - boycottcafos (12/12/2012) [-]
Animal products are the most potent carcinogens people are exposed to on a regular basis according to Cornell. This is science, not opinion. I'm not the egotistical prick with an inferiority complex who decided to start making fun of vegans. That would be you.
User avatar #140 to #139 - IamEllis (12/13/2012) [-]
No. that is only true for red meat or you have a lack of fruits/vegetables in your diet while having too much protein in your system from meat. If I have a burger now and then, its not going to kill me any more than taking a nap will. not only are you an egotisticle prick, but you're a hypocrite as well. read my first comment. I dont care if people are vegans but its nagging ***** like you that give vegans a bad name. #141 to #140 - boycottcafos (12/14/2012) [-]
No, that's not just all meat. That's all animal products. Stop pretending to know what I'm talking about when you don't. www.thewarhasonlyvegan.blogspot.com/p/health.html < Watch the second video listed. And even small amounts cause damage. Making up **** to support your gluttony is giving omnivores like you a bad name. Stop trying to fault vegans as a way to try to compensate for your ******** beliefs.

<--ALL?There the vegan goes again, "knowing" that whatever anyone else believes is wrong. and that guy talking in the video you showed me? I could have snapped his arm or his neck even, without any effort,he is so thin. Hell, I'm skinny myself but that doesn't look healthy at all. We need protein that comes from meat. The studies you use for your evidence have only been done on high and excessive consumptions of meat. Besides, there have been other studies showing that vegetarians have a higher risk for stomach and colon cancer. Being a vegan cna have some benefits to health but also has down sides to match
#143 to #142 - boycottcafos (12/18/2012) [-]
You clearly didn't look at the studies at all. They tracked small amounts of meat and animal products as well...

And there are plenty of skinny as **** omnivores too, retard.

there is a large difference between skinny and frail, and although there may be a few ominvours that look like that, it certainly doesn't help your case anymore. because that one method of body building helps people doesnt mean there is only that 1 method either. my point is that your argument that eating meat is bad because it causes cancer is invalid because veganism can cause just as many other forms of cancer

I see where you are coming from, but there is a high demand to meet, a lot of meat needs to be processed so people can eat. Before you say how people don't need to eat meat and can become vegans, there will then be a high demand for non-animal food. There won't be enough for every person and more over, there won't be enough for animals to eat if they share their food with humans.
#121 to #120 - tyraxio (11/26/2012) [-]
A fact is that it takes 7 times more plant based food to produce the same amount (in weight) of meat. There will be more than enough. Especially since population of farming animals (especially cows and pigs, who occupy large areas too) will decrease when we stop farming them up.

However, of course, I have to be realistic. It won't happen overnight. It won't happen this year. Unless something wild happens not in my lifetime - and for all I know it may never happen. But that is no excuse to not fight for what you believe it.

Really, all I'm trying today is not to get people to turn vegan (I gave up a long time ago) just to make people realise what they're doing. You do it because it tastes good, and I can't deny that. If that's reason enough for you to cause the suffering you are, then I can't do anything about it.

The high demand is a problem though, and if an "overnight-vegan-solution", as I mentioned, were to happen, then yes, the economy would break, but if a totally vegan world order was to be established, it would take a long time, and the demand for meat would slowly decrease over the time.
#13 to #10 - anon (11/26/2012) [-]
Another quick question mate. Animals eat each other all the time. Why shouldn't we? Other than the obvious reason of self-importance.
#25 to #13 - anon (11/26/2012) [-]
Animals have no free will, men do. Animals can't know better, men do.
We are able to decide what we eat. We are now able, after a long perod of time in which meat and animal products were needed, to get our nutriment from sources which do not suffer while serving as food. It's mostly about the fact that someone suffers and that this suffer could be prevented. Suffering unifies all beings by creating an interest in the own well-being (rather then the opposite) and the realization that the own suffer-based interest in well-being is the same in men and animals. The problem in fact is, that we are not able to really communicate with animals for they are instinct controlled and not as high developed in communication as we are. But that is no reason to ignore their suffer, pain and interest to live a happy life. They scream in pain and fear. As long as this can be prevented, it should. Imho.
Please try to reason against this. I am interested in other views and criticism.
User avatar #21 to #13 - kyrozor (11/26/2012) [-]
Right, I'll jump in here from the neutral standpoint. I myself eat meat and yadda yadda yadda, but have nothing against those who don't, I mean.. why would I? But sometimes they (as well as us, mind) can seem a bit deranged and in your face, but you said "Animals eat each other all the time" While that's very true, none of them put them in giant murder factories and grow them purely to be eaten.

Like just imagine you were growing up with big high walls and gates everywhere, with your friends parents and other old people going missing every now and then until eventually you are gone, to be eaten and that's all you get you get food and then you die. That's more or less what we do, and no other animal on earth does that. (Well at least to the insane degree that we, as humans do.)

I am doing no wrong, simply paying my hard earned money for what other people do, which is kill an animal and put it in a plastic bag for me, i did not kill the animal, i did not know the animal, and to be frank i dont care for the animal cause it dosnt care for me. If i were to die in a field right now due to someones actions and a little boy found my body and took the money from it, that little boy is in no way a bad person, he might have needed that money and my dead self certainly dosnt need it, cause im dead. Same basic principle.

Any vegans that tell you they're vegan and act smug about it aren't real vegans, they're just people who want to feel like they're special and matter.
They're the reason there's vegan bacon and other meat products. Seriously, if you were a real vegan, you wouldn't care that you can't have bacon anymore, you wouldn't even waste your time eating imitations of meat.
Also, real vegans don't have to rub it in anyone's face because they know it's not a big deal.
User avatar #33 to #30 - kippa (11/26/2012) [-]
I'm not vegan and I'm stating the obvious here, I agree with you apart from the "you wouldn't even waste your time eating imitations of meat. "
Most of the time vegetarians and vegans don't eat meat because they don't like that fact that an animal has been slaughtered. It's not because they don't like the taste of meat. if there are imitations of meat available not made from animal products why would they avoid them?
User avatar #36 to #33 - sketchysketchist (11/26/2012) [-]
Well, then I think they should just eat meat. If you like it and it doesn't kill you, go for it.
We're equipped to be omnivorous for a reason.
User avatar #40 to #36 - kippa (11/26/2012) [-]
Yeah, I agree. I hate how they try and make out that people who eat meat are monsters. It's actually funny how many products are made of animals. You just can't avoid it. And if we didn't eat animals anymore, what would farmers do with the animals? What use do pigs have other than being used for pork, bacon etc.? What are they supposed to do with male calves who have no use or old dairy cows? They can't just keep them until they die of old age. Although I am an animal lover, I just don't see the sense of being vegetarian other than health or personal reasons.
User avatar #48 to #40 - sketchysketchist (11/26/2012) [-]
Yeah, pretty much. But these "vegetarians" are people who just want to feel special, and they want to force everyone to be like them.
If we lived in a society that really enjoy it's fruit and vegetables, these same people would go all out on only eating meat and complain how all the vegetable lovers are increasing Co2 levels from eating plants.
I like animals too, and even tried being vegetarian for a year. Vegetarianism sucks if you have no reason for it, and I'll eat meat even if it's some innocent animal that's been "slaughtered". It's not like I'm feasting on a rack of lamb, with a side of ribs and a meat salad, I eat a balanced meal. And honestly, people that eat meat get pissed when it's reported that a farm's been treating it's animals like **** . We're not monsters, we have some dignity for animals, we just also need our preferred diets.

no **** animals dont teach their babies to kill other animals. you don't see parents teaching their baby how to eat meat. why? because babies can't eat meat. they havent developed the teeth to chew the meat yet. and Humans dont even hunt for their meat. Animals, however, as soon as the baby is grown up enough that they can do stuff by themselves, they're taught to hunt and kill.
