I know I'm wasting my energy, but it's about time people know that the "super-obvious" plothole in Lord of the Rings isn't a plothole at all. It is,

Why didn't the hobbits take the eagles all the way to Mount Doom?

One word: Nazgûls. The Ringwraiths are more than capable of killing Frodo and taking the ring (at one point they almost do), and they have impossibly fast flying mounts that can easily kill an eagle. Had they tried and flown, they would've been seen by the Eye of Sauron (not many things fly) and taken out by the Nazgûl before they even reached the borders of Mordor.

I just gave up trying to explain that to people. Haha. They were always like, "Nah, bruh; they coulda taken the eagles and just dropped it into the mountain."
