ppl DO need to do what makes them feel alive, the problem its some ppl become perverse and beging to enjoy unhealthy things like the ones you mentioned above, thats why its important o ahve strong morals, and learn to feel alive with healty things not perverse ones

TL:DR if you are that perverse you dont need someone to tell you to go do it(or there would have been any rapist or murderer on existance ever)
User avatar #104 to #83 - pokemonstheshiz (11/21/2012) [-]
morals are subjective societal constraints. their real purpose is to keep organized society, but you obey them to be socially accepted. There is no personal right and wrong, only societal.
#138 to #104 - Rascal (11/21/2012) [-]
******** . Go out and murder some guy, then come back and tell me that again with a straight face.

Nobody gives a **** how much of a cynical badass you think you are.
User avatar #142 to #138 - pokemonstheshiz (11/21/2012) [-]
I would not murder somebody. Know why? Society (includes family) and religion taught me that it was wrong, it is ingrained in my morals. Other people might not have the same morals. Morals taught differ between societies and religions, and the people among them determine the morals for themselves. That's why it subjective. People like Ted Bundty didn't learn the same morals even in a similar society. You can argue that they have mental problems, but it still shows that morals are not ingrained in humans, they have to be learned.

In translation they should do whatever they wanna do unless others think it's bad?

Well isn't that restricting the first part of the statement?
The ''Do whatever you wanna do'' part?

Or am I missing your point? Bad grammar does that to me sometimes.

My face when my sociology degree got me a job working at a lumber with 60 year olds who aren't even smart enough to know my name. they call me "young fellar". Signing up for the army soon. Nightly nose bleeds from breathing in saw dust sucks ass.
User avatar #79 to #25 - elcreepo (11/21/2012) [-]
1. Join army
2. Fight and learn to live as a member of a group and learn responsibility/compassion/ect
3. Survive
4. Exit army with loads of benefits
5. Join peace corp, document first culture in a third world country, publish paper on return
7. Get a grant from a world organization such as National Geographic in order to study more small cultures
8. Profit. Literally.
User avatar #48 to #25 - lasmamoe (11/21/2012) [-]
But would you rather have spent 5 years doing something you completely hate instead of studying Sociology? (I assume you like Sociology)
You will get a job eventually (hopefully*) and by that time i am sure you will be glad you didn't go the "easy" way of getting a job you hate just for the sake of getting a job.

Also, I dont know about the lumber place, but dont think that you are too good to do anything, those old people there probably know stuff that you dont and vice versa.

Lastly, you can join the army if you want, but nightly nosebleeds are nothing compared to getting your whole face blown off.
User avatar #120 to #48 - dabombmanater (11/21/2012) [-]
I probably didn't give as much details as I could of (I was trying to avoid "too long didn't read" and "cool story bro"). But the people there are much smarter then ill ever be when it comes to working with there hands and stuff. The comment about them not knowing my name was only to signify how dead end the lumber mill gig is (for me at least). And the army has been a dream of mine since I was younger, ive also been in the reserves since my second year of university. Also im too not to good for that job by any means, but I do feel im too good to spend my life doing something I hate (I think everyone should feel the same, im not trying to sound stuck up).

Sorry, my post was misleading as hell judging by your response.
User avatar #179 to #120 - dabombmanater (11/21/2012) [-]
Plus to be fair about the army comment, I didn't specify i`d be choosing a combat role in reg force. I have an uncle who`s an air conditioner maintenance guy. He`s in the army but I can guarantee you he doesn't wake up in the morning worrying about being shot in the face.
User avatar #182 to #179 - lasmamoe (11/22/2012) [-]
Well, im glad you explained it more thorughly. It seems that you are pretty clear about what you want. I hope it all works out for you, and that the army thing is safe like you say :)

They can get a job. A ****** , entry level job, but it's still employment. Granted, even those are getting harder to get.
#31 to #19 - notafunnyguy (11/21/2012) [-]
because if you like to write, draw or play music, there is nothing you can learn in college that you can't learn online or on your own. it's not like they're going to open up some big writer factory or artist factory and employ everyone. if you're going to take arts in hopes of getting a career, dont. that's like rule #1
User avatar #105 to #31 - pokemonstheshiz (11/21/2012) [-]
some people need the motivation to learn, they need people to tell them what and when to practice/study. And they want to have something on paper that proves they have at least some talent
#162 to #105 - notafunnyguy (11/21/2012) [-]
it shoudlnt take something on paper to show they have talent. they should be able to pick up a guitar or a brush and show them exactly why they DONT need a degree
User avatar #169 to #162 - pokemonstheshiz (11/21/2012) [-]
well for the people where they want to get an actual job, one with regular hours and such, you need proof of knowledge. Being able to pick up the guitar and play is fine, but you need a decent amount of publicity to get a record deal or make enough to survive. Being in a good music program helps get you publicity and jobs. The music program at my school is good enough that nearby orchestras come there to scope out new players. It's really hard to get noticed in the music industry. A lot of people I know in art programs are aiming for jobs like being a teacher or graphic design or something though.
#172 to #169 - notafunnyguy (11/21/2012) [-]
i can tell you're young. trust me, that is not how it works. whether you went to college or not has no influence on your musical abilities. most musicians are picked up as teens or young adults and molded to celebrities from there.
User avatar #176 to #172 - pokemonstheshiz (11/21/2012) [-]
I'm 19 if you consider that young. I'm not saying it affects your abilities, but it affects your publicity.
