This is one thing I never understood. How was the Empire bad? Did they actually do anything bad in the films (excluding games and the prequels)? All I remember is that they were tracking down Princess Leia, a known terrorist (any government would do this if the country was under threat). Short of killing Luke's family and shizzle (which is logical considering they had known connections to the droids they were looking for that contained the vital data, so assumed they too were terrorists), the Empire really did nothing wrong.

The only point I realised the Empire was meant to be evil was when the big yellow text floating in space told me "the Empire is evil".

It's not the empire itself that is evil. It's the man on top who is. The Empire is no more then the faceless epitome of law and order. But the Emperor, or "Darth Sidious", embraces the powers of darkness to enforce this said law. This makes the Empire, as we Dungeons and Dragons nerds say, "Lawful Evil". While they bring law and order to the galaxy, they're choking the **** out of people to do it.

Did you forget the part where they destroyed Alderaan?

So the rebels were actually jews... Makes sense now.
User avatar #49 to #39 - Mr Ronok (11/17/2012) [-]
look at it from this point of view. if you consider the rebels terrorists, Alderaan was their home base. most of the funding for the rebellion came from Alderaan. if you compare it to modern days, while not a good example, that would be like nuking Iraq to stop Al Qaeda, or wherever they come from

Guys, I think this might be blown out of proportion.

THIS IS WHY THE REBEL SCUM SHALL PAY.
WE SHALL SEE THEM CRUSHED TO ENSURE THE ENDURING SECURITY, AND STABILITY, OF THE GALACTIC EMPIRE.

This message brought to you by the imperial bureau of propaganda and communications.

If you're into the Expanded Universe, then you should realize how much evil came straight from destruction of the Empire. The Galaxy was divided, broken by years of big and medium conflicts - and then the Yuuzhan Vong come. What they have? An enitre army-like civilization with a sole purpose to take over the Galaxy. What the New Republic has? Jedi (the only real power in that time) and an army so weak, that it has to be combined with factions like Imperial Remnants and Chiss to push back the Yuuzhan. Imagine what the Emperor would do to invaders given another 50(?) years of growing in power and building his Thousand Years Reich. With multiple Death Stars, Vader powerful beyond imagination, perhaps Luke already a Sith Lord... Highly trained, diverse and faithful military. Enormous fleet led by the 13 Admirals who were all said to be military geniuses.
Just think about it.

For a second I thought it was Holes because they were wearing orange jumpsuits and that kid looked a little like Shia Labeouf, but then I noticed the metal rod sticking out of his ******* chest and now I am very curious.
