There are three kinds of people in this world:
Ones who want diamonds,
ones who have diamonds,
and ones who realise diamonds are just carbon.

and some that realise that it will sooner or later turn into graphite

Physics is amazing. How something as dirty and porous and vital to life carbon is, can also be the toughest and clearest thing around. I keep getting my mind blown by this kind of fact. I dont understand ****

I can tell, because that's not physics, it's chemistry.
User avatar #23 to #20 - daentraya (11/15/2012) [-]
I suck particularly at terms. And yeah, didnt really focus much, its chemistry. Physics is way more mindblowing. At least chemistry seems to be somewhat understandable.. I think. What do i know anyway

Flowers... because nothing says I care like a dying reproductive organ of a plant

Well, when you put it that way, it just makes it all the more romantic.

Water: Millions of uses, everyone needs it, and everyone buys it. 2$ or less per gallon.
Diamonds: Not really useful except when showing people how big of a baller you are. A ******* an ounce.

Well water should be cheap, free even

Diamond is extremely rare and hard to find. It also has many many uses in tools since its hard to cut a diamond. Water freakin comes from the sky and has many natural places on the surface of the ground, not hard to come by.
User avatar #38 to #37 - sketchysketchist ONLINE (11/15/2012) [-]
Actually, Diamond is easy to find and the deposits are huge.
#40 to #38 - masterarctik (11/15/2012) [-]
Maybe it is easier to find than I, I apologize. But it can't be more plentiful than something that falls from the sky. I will agree that diamond is quite a bit overpriced, but it definitely should be quite a bit more expensive than water.
User avatar #41 to #40 - sketchysketchist ONLINE (11/15/2012) [-]
Why though?
It really doesn't have much use compared to water.
Plus the rule of price and quantity.
There's plenty, so it should be cheaper.
Supply and demand should affect it's price.
Diamonds are abundant, but no one really wants them so their value should be closer to zero.

OP is a fag.
Mining diamond is easy. You just dig down until you find diamond, just don't get close to the earth's core or you'll get burnt by magma. Africans do it for money, it's their choice.

True fact. The whole "diamonds are forever" thing was totally a deBeers campaign in the forties, before that engagement gifts were a range of different things.
Were I ever to be in a serious relationship I'd tell my boyfriend I wouldn't want a diam - HAHA who am I kidding forever alone.

the weird thing is though, if we stop buying the products made in sweatshops then it will be even worse, we should buy fair trade **** rather than avoiding buying things

The whole Diamonds are forever line just came from a peon at the De Beers mining company and spiralled into a line used by people worldwide. Its funny that a little gimmicky line from one desk jockey has wormed its way into daily speech and encapsulated the entire strange culture of imagined worth that surrounds diamonds.

I personally am more of a gold man.
