But did you take into account:

The exact force of your licks
The consistency in the force of your licks
The temperature of your mouth
The temperature of the surrounding area
The temperature of the candy
The acidity of your saliva
The surface area of your tongue coming into contact with the candy
The consistency in the surface area of your tongue coming into contact with the candy
The consistency in the area that was being licked

Everything must be carefully monitored or we can't possibly know the circumstances at which your candy required 850 licks.

O-oh.. It was just meant to be funny?... Sorry for your time, carry on.

that why science works with so many averages. Statistics are used to neglect the effects of such uncontrollable variables.

Well, it took HIM[big][big] 850 licks to get to the center.

Modeling Mathematics: You have to discard all the varialbles that tend to be not relevant in your equation.

don't forget the dryness of the candy,
the time in between licks,
the dryness of your tongue
the barometric pressure
the humidity of the surrounding area
the roughness of your tongue/ candy
the exact shape of the candy
the area in which you lick it, and they type of candy (different combinations my dissolve faster than others)

*sigh* Allow me to rephrase: You want to take physics for a GRADE? I love learning about science, but I don't like risking a grade on something so complicated, not if I don't have to.

I can kind of agree with you here. I love Chemistry (Like #107 says, all Science), but gah... I am NOT good at Chemistry for some reason :/ I get Physics though and they're somewhat similar..

biology is like history
chemistry is like english
physics is like math

memorization
mashing together small sections to make everything work
math, just math.

It also depends on the teacher. My chem professor this year has us do 50-100 problems a week. I know, not bad right? He grades the entire assignment on the basis of 1-2 random questions and disregards all other answers you gave. A lot of my friend's teachers had this strategy as well. You can see the point: if you can't do it consistently, you can't do it at all, but I still think it's an unbalanced system.

just remember that centrifugal force isn't a force, its a sensation. its all about inertia. and how your body doesn't want to accelerate (which by the way in physics is represented by speeding up, slowing down, or turning) so the idea of centrifugal force is your inertia it feel like you are being pulled away even though its just the power of your inertia vs. the pull of friction holding you in place. welcome to term one high school physics. its not really that hard. (if your going into college physics then good luck you might need it)

also remember to take into account
the small variations from candy to candy
the subtle changes in the candy during transportation
the calculated half life of the chemical compositions of ingredients
the temperature of the local biosphere
the energy in mega joules the sun emits
the geo-morphology of near by rock structures
the calculated amount gravity acting on satellites orbiting the Earth
the calculated amount of for our sun to grow and become a white dwarf

most of those have been stated or are non effectual considering there is no place outside of earth in which we know that a tootsie pop can be licked without death. so the variable will never change. or they actually have no part of the experiment (geo-morphology)
