isn't it about having a patent on something?
i mean if apple has invented slide to unlock and placed a patent on it.
and they found it unnecessary to use it on there phones. and instead they give permission to Sony to use it for a small fee. they still are the ones to invented it.
it isn't about using something for the first time it's about inventing something for the first time.

That's not the case though - Apple didn't give people permission to use those things - those groups actually did invent those things independent of apple, and then apple used them.
