"Stealing" features = Fine
"Stealing" features and claiming they are revolutionizing and that you invented them yourself = asshattery

Yes, it sucks Apple has patents that were given to them by idiots who didn't know their patents were common sense; but legally Apple had their patents before Samsung released their phones. It's not a matter of when the phones were released but when the patents were filed.

The problem, at least in my opinion, are all the uneducated macfag consumers who believe they are the first, last and in between of the mobile industry.

Indeed. There isn't shame in copying what works, but going as far as claiming them as yours and suing people over it is just concentrated ass.

what people forget is just because the iphone wasn't released, it can be still made by them. samsung really copied apple design (you know samsung made stuff for apple)

and many stuff was truly their research, which was implemented into their phones later

also seeing you people hate apple for no reason makes me sad... i mean okay, it's an overpriced product, so what? you have to buy it? NO! there are people who buy it? so what, they CAN buy it IF they WANT... it is NOT of your business who buys what and for how much.

yes i own an iPhone 5 too and i also own a Galaxy 3 too... so what?

I do admire apple for making smart use of the dumbed down society. Steve Jobs was a great marketer and I complement him for making so much money with so little effort.

For a group of careers in which plagiarism is one of the most horrible things someone can do...
Its rather iRonic that the most used computer company to work with being in those careers, has a long history of stealing from others.

the thing is that every phone at the time had like one good feature and otherwise sucked, so apple took the best features they could find from all phones and added some of their own ideas to make the iPhone. The smartphones we have wouldn't have been as smart right now if it were not for apple. and if u think that android would be around without apple think again because the guy that invented android worked on the iOS team before he switched company to google.

"literally" there's that word again...
#139 to #133 - sittingwhale (11/14/2012) [-]
well it legitimately applies in this scenario because steve jobs is dead... and the post makes fun of steve jobs. so, yea. literally beating a dead "horse".

I am literally commenting back with this post. No one is actually in their backyard beating a dead horse. so it is not literal

Why would I be butthurt? Somebody corrected you and you said it still applies even though it doesn't.
#166 to #152 - sittingwhale (11/14/2012) [-]
to stop your butthurt, would you be satisfied if i corrected myself with "figuratively"?...

he is not hitting the corpse in any sense, so it is not literally beating a dead horse (also note that steve jobs was not a horse in any sense)

Seriously, I don't care. I don't have an iphone, but why do people vehemently hate apple?

Because they steal ideas then claim that they're their own!

No, the answer is because some people are complaining about them stealing ideas and now everybody on the internet wants to jump on the bandwagon.

Don't like apple? Don't buy their products, that simple.
#105 to #43 - calibratuner (11/14/2012) [-]
I dont like apple and hate them.

And yes, i do not buy apple, i do not own a single apple product, and will not.

Everyone hates on apple but if it wasn't for their first "cool desktop" computers as we know them may have never existed. Apple designed its first generation computer to be able to entertain people while every PC was seen as just a work tool.

The hate for Apple is more of a bandwagon thing, isn't it? I mean, if you think about it, every idea has been stolen at some point at another. But what if, while developing the iPhone, for example, they never knew about the Sony Ericsson sliding feature?

If you learn about the history of the telephone, you would know two people actually invented it at about the same time. The difference is Alexander Graham Bell went to the patent office earlier than Elisha Grey. Maybe for some of the features they didn't know and just thought it was a great idea.

Or maybe they thought all of those products are **** and they are going to make it better. Admit it, after the iPhone came, there was suddenly dozens of comparable smartphones and touchscreens in the market. It changed the game. Remember, it redefined what people think they can do on a phone. They can do things they never thought they could or wanted. But well, the iPhone makes people think, "Wow, that is awesome! I could really find a use for that!" Same with the iPod. Made the CD Walkman obsolete.

Plus, Apple is amazing at marketing. Changed what people think about themselves. Made them think if they have the new Apple product, they are a better person. Maybe the same kind of marketing doesn't work as well today anymore. But back then, wow, people were amazed! Plus, a touchscreen phone! It's easy to use, compared to the Blackberrys and big chunky Nokias at that time.

Of course, all this equals Apple raising their prices because people think of them as better products, so justifying the higher price, plus if people still buys them, why not? They're still a company after all. They are not stupid. We're the stupid ones here. They sought to make money through mass appeal of their products, and right now, everyone hates them for being very successful.

The problem is that they are suing other, rival, companies over "stealing" the features that are listed in here as not even being Apple's to begin with. They actually won the lawsuit in court against Samsung. So they are suing people for stealing ideas and winning even though they weren't really their ideas.
#104 to #69 - calibratuner (11/14/2012) [-]
Keep watching the Samsung case, because they haven't technically "won" yet.

In fact the ban on samsung sales has been removed.
