We seek to find heaven in the afterlife, and in doing so, only find hell in the present

It's funny really.

This comic suggests that The idea of an afterlife is wishful thinking, and that it would all end with just worldwide peace.

But that's completely backwards. Worldwide peace is nothing more than wishful thinking. The world is a horrible, terrifying place, filled with equally horrible people. The proposal of such a simple answer is just preposterous.

The most we can do to get such a reality is just try ourselves to spread the idea of peace and love with our own actions. (inb4 gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay)

But there will always be a terrible reality to life. The comic is cute and comforting and all, but in the end it just seems empty.

I got that the point was to be grateful for what we have in life and enjoy every day, rather than live for the afterlife. I don't see anything about world peace, just not killing over religion.
User avatar #72 to #67 - boomdady (11/14/2012) [-]
If this is about living every day than the comic doesn't depict the quote very well. And I don't see how living for the afterlife and killing for religion are related, and if that is what the quote is getting at, then it's just speaking about violent, and hate-spreading religions, like extreme Muslims.

Even still, there's no working with people who spend their lives spreading misery and hate for whatever reason, this whole idea just seems like a pretty, but empty, thought to me

Naw, we just hate getting attacked, physically.

We couldn't give any fewer ***** about them.

>implying you speak for all Americans

>implying Americans are the only Westerners.

But no, I don't, I do speak from fact that was didn't attack them, however.
#35 to #33 - SirSheepy (11/14/2012) [-]
North America + South America = Americans = Westerners
also i find it hard to rebuttle to "that was didn't attack them"
User avatar #37 to #35 - lemanrouste (11/14/2012) [-]
hmmm....

I can see why you'd have trouble with that.

I'm having a bit of trouble with it too.

That we didn't attack them*. Should probably add in "unprovoked as well.

Most of Europe qualifies as the "West" by the way.
User avatar #40 to #37 - SirSheepy (11/14/2012) [-]
a lot of westerners still hate them regardless of who attacked who
when i said westerners i didnt necessarily mean the western hemisphere.
User avatar #41 to #40 - lemanrouste (11/14/2012) [-]
I didn't either, meant culture, otherwise what I said wouldn't make ANY sense, since the majority of Europe is on the Eastern hemisphere. UK, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, etc. All have a Western Culture like the United States, Canada, and Mexico do.

Random thought, would the Middle East fall under an Eastern Styled culture or their own?
User avatar #43 to #41 - SirSheepy (11/14/2012) [-]
that would make more sense.

i consider it to be its own culture
User avatar #44 to #43 - lemanrouste (11/14/2012) [-]
hmm. I thought so, to the second part that is.

Also, going to assume someone is trying to create some butthurt in this otherwise friendly debate (in regards to thumbs).

But still, you're right, I can't speak for everyone, but that same applies to you saying that westerners DO hate the middle easterners.

people are fighting for world domination actually.

to fight in this life for an afterlife doesnt make sense in any religion or culture and is an ignorant assumption

i am prepared for ignorant red thumbs too.. just had to make my point
