I think he was referencing Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I know what malhaloc is referencing. But he clearly doesn't know what Lambda is referencing.
User avatar #121 to #120 - thepyras (11/08/2012) [-]
Or maybe he does and it was joke since this is a comedy site. I bet three fourths of the people who thumbed him down don't know what Lambda was referencing, but everybody wants to seem smart.
User avatar #122 to #121 - theycallmeloye (11/08/2012) [-]
Possible, very possible. But to make such an odd remark to a reference to something that is important to US history, especially without a reaction image that clarifies that it's a joke still deserves red thumbs.

I don't think so. I thought it was clever.

The Bull-Moose party was a short lived political party lead by Theodore Roosevelt. It began in 1912 when the republican party split because some of them were progressive republicans, some were not. The new party, the progressive republicans (they supported woman's suffrage, worker's compensation, 8-hour workdays, and a federal trade commission to regulate trade) elected Theodore Roosevelt as their leader. They were called the Bull Moose party because Roosevelt claimed to be, "Strong as a Bull Moose." In 1912, Roosevelt ran against Taft and the conservative republicans, Eugene Debbs and the Socialists (Yes, the socialists were at one point a quite popular political party in America), but ended up loosing to Woodrow Wilson and the Democrats. And that my good sir, is an abbreviated history of the Bull Moose political party. Have a nice day :)

Well now that I've been educated on the subject I understand the outrage to my joke. Still thought is was worth a chuckle though.

The republicans once were a third party. They gained prominence when they put Lincoln in the presidency.

The way out political system is set up it's not possible to have more than two viable parties at a time. There would have to be a significant decline in republican or democratic voters, and then that entire portion of people would have to switch to the same third party. Honestly, the party system is flawed and shouldn't even exist, the politicians should run based on their own views.

its all the media's fault. They just choose not to focus on them so uninformed voters (most of voters) never pay enough attention.

I really do wish that there was a viable third party, because for people like me with a soclally liberal but fiscally conservative view, there really is no candidate that I can wholeheartedly support.
User avatar #107 - esmebuffay (11/08/2012) [-]
The whole "every vote counts" is true, because when a million people think "my vote doesn't really matter, I just won't vote" that's a million votes that could have gone to something and done something but didn't.

#112 to #107 - muffinspecial (11/08/2012) [-]
actually, your vote sometimes doesn'y count because of our retarded electoral voting system. If you voted for Obama in one of the valley states, your vote didn't change the course of the election.
User avatar #139 to #112 - esmebuffay (11/08/2012) [-]
Yeah, which is one reason that has to be changed.
