Come on, oxygen isn't a slut... She formed meaningful bonds with all of them!

As a Chem major I must say, Fluorine is the lowest of low when it comes to being a slut. It doesn't care who it gets it from, but it will break up other relationships just to get with someone else and then stick her long ass finger nails into him to keep him from ever leaving.

What about Carbon and all the organic compounds it forms?
#100 to #90 - rafikithenig (11/07/2012) [-]
I think carbon usually hooks up with hydrogen though so carbon isn't that sluttly

(I failed Chem 101 so don't believe anything i say)
User avatar #102 to #100 - kolsinder (11/07/2012) [-]
Not only Hydrogen, it also has a preference for Oxygen and, albeit rarely, Chlorine. Well I'm going to be studying economics and management at university next year, so I'm not much of a chemistry guru either.

Y'know, I keep thinking there must be some sort of exception out there but I really guess not.

Carbon is way sluttier than oxygen.! It has a FIELD OF SCIENCE dedicated to the hook-ups is has with other elements.

Nobody ever points this out and I'm not as fresh on my chemistry as I used to be but wouldn't Oxygen and Potassium make K2O not OK...?
#61 to #56 - yacadauchiha (11/07/2012) [-]
K2O would mean 2 parts Potassium.
#62 to #61 - Rascal (11/07/2012) [-]
yes. Potassium has 1 valance electron so it has a +1 charge. Oxygen has 6 valence electrons so it has a -2 charge. You would need 2 Potassium for each Oxygen. K2O is correct.
#64 to #62 - mastercolossus (11/07/2012) [-]
it can have a negative charge. theoretically anyway.
User avatar #72 to #64 - anteatereatingants (11/07/2012) [-]
Unlikely...it only exists as K2O naturally. It would be difficult to make a KO molecule because you would have to remove one of the potassium molecules without removing the other. Not sure how you would go about that.
#89 to #72 - mastercolossus (11/07/2012) [-]
diddnt say it would be easy.
