so many weapons... I usually switch weapons/armor/spells between fights because I like them all.

Black Knights GreatAxe is the best non-para weapon in game I think. Stronger and more importantly FASTER than the Greatsword. Amazing reach too.

And If you rang both bells, why don't you go to Anor Londo? The entrance is above the Smith who sells Artoria's Seal

The most ****** up thing going on in EA right now?
Two men by the name Vince Zampella and Jason West worked under EA with Danger Close Studios on the Medal of Honour series. They stopped after helping to make "MoH: Allied Assault" because EA put massive restrictions on what they wanted to put in their games. For instance they couldn't have a mission where your character ran around without a gun, or have a cutscene that showed life during WW2.
So they quit, created Infinity Ward, and made the Call of Duty series under Activision into the booming success it is today. Point in case EA could have had a Monopoly on the FPS market.
In 2010 West and Zampella were fired from Activision. The went and formed Respawn Entertainment, and are expected to have a new FPS title out in March 2013. Here's the kicker; Respawn Entertainment is now under EA.
User avatar #63 to #60 - vizz (11/06/2012) [-]
Publishers have way too much control over what goes into a game. such as the mistaken belief that complexity in a game wont make it sell well. Thus why dumbed down console ports and terrible remakes of classic games are killing gaming in general.

They basically took everything which made the first game utterly amazing, and changed/removed it
User avatar #31 to #30 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
how? co-op was originally going to be in dead space 1, but was removed due to time restraints. Action is still present in dead space 3, but to be incorporated with the horror like in the 2nd game, which was a huge success. The single player won't have an AI, and will have tight corridors like in 1, and open areas like in 2. If anything they've changed it for the better.
User avatar #32 to #31 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
Sure they changed it for the better, they turned it from a claustrophobic horror to a brainless action-shooter.

#35 to #32 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
say what you want. But what you and many people do is judge the book by its cover.

And how am i kissing ass?
User avatar #36 to #35 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
By not only accepting, but also praising anything EA does, somehow considering them as "wonderful changes".

What part of "co-op ruins the whole stranded, claustrophobic horror atmosphere" you don't compute? I know Dead Space 2 was faster paced, but at least the mobs were fast enough to keep you on your toes.
User avatar #40 to #36 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
1. There was meant to be co-op in DS1
2. It is OPTIONAL. and there will not be an AI. Sure, co-op won't be as scary, can't have everything.
3. That really shows how little you know about the game if you would use that as an argument
and lastly, you may think im kissing ass, but that's only because, for whatever reason, you
hate EA. Liking a series that is very well and is very enjoyable, doesn't make me a kiss-ass

User avatar #43 to #42 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
Well, letting aside the fact that they have been voted as THE WORST EMPLOYER EVER this year (or last year), over other greedy corporations and banks...
They have a major part in dumbing down games in the recent years, and along with their policy of "buy everything, then make a cheap buck out of it (i.e. The Godfather games, Harry Potter games, etc) makes them that much more disgusting.
User avatar #45 to #43 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
that's a pretty ****** reason to instantly hate anything and everything produced by them.

User avatar #53 to #51 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
Well, you started off by telling me that hating a game is one thing and that hating the company is on a whole other level.
And no, I don't hate everything that comes out wearing the EA logo. But, for instance, although I never played Dragon Age, I'm pretty sure from what I've heard/read that they ****** up DA2, too.
User avatar #54 to #53 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
before you wrote that comment, i didn't know that EA was like that, I didn't know how you could just hate an entire company, for apparantly no reason.
User avatar #37 to #32 - malizlewaa (11/06/2012) [-]
pretty much this. I mean, part of the appeal of DS1 was the silent protagonist, the claustrophobia, the darkness, the sense of drifting through space and being utterly alone save for a couple NPC's and a horde of undead necromorphs.

Making it open and more loud and action-orientated and breaking the immersion of isolation by adding more random NPC's just kills it.
User avatar #47 to #37 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
1. Did you play DS2? If not, the demo is free and i suggest you try it out.
The entire game isn't action oriented, the action is mixed in with the horror to keep appeal. People assume that its 50/50 action and horror, in reality, its a horror game with action mixed into it. Which, i felt through my playthroughs, was a good idea. The second game seriously steps up the horror to compensate for the action, and by no means dumbs it down. NPC's are still kept at an arm's length, but to a point where it's believable, unlike the first one where you were basically an errand boy.
User avatar #50 to #47 - malizlewaa (11/06/2012) [-]
I played DS2, and sold it the next day. Terrible. Horror was laughable, and the action...at all, certainly doesnt help with a "horror" game.

Being in a dead spaceship was better than a living city, going back and forth in a close-spaced environment really helped with ******* with your mind.
User avatar #52 to #50 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
well, then the game wasn't for you. I know plenty of people who loved DS2 and hated DS1,
and vice-versa. I was just under the impression that you were one of the people who saw
one video or trailer, and assumed they knew all about the game.
User avatar #179 to #52 - fizzor (11/06/2012) [-]
I love them both. DS1 for the overall scary atmosphere, and DS2 for the combination of both horror and action. While DS2 didn't make me to turn off my 360 like DS1 did sometimes during the first playthrough because I was too much of a pussy to take anymore freaky and scary moments, I could still feel the suspense of how something's gonna jump me and ********* me to death. People often complain how it really tones down the feeling of horror in a game if it has a lot of guns, but I've found myself in numerous moments when I realize I'm ******* running out of ammo and there's nothing I can find. I'm forced to use the enviroment and melee enemies to death. That is awesome. Also, I'm really waiting for DS3. Looks awesome.

User avatar #210 to #179 - TheSock (11/06/2012) [-]
same here. I did have to turn off my 360 during my first playthrough. It was on survivalist
mode, and i was insanely low on ammo and health in the ishimura....My exact words to
my friends were
I can't play anymore right now, this game is too much
#134 to #52 - Visual ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
Action/Survival Horror doesn't mix.

DS2 was creepy for me when I wasn't going commando on the necromorphs. Such as the parts of wandering hallways with the ambiance playing smoothly and an occasional pop-up.

When they started to swarm was when it lost most of it's scare factor and felt more like a generic zombie survival mode.

Now they're focusing more on Action in DS3? That's going down the wrong path and won't be even remotely scary for %90 of the game if they really bum **** the scenarios with action instead of true survival horror.

I'll be spending my money on Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs when it releases next year. I'll probably get more scares off of that than Dead Franchise 3.
