I'm British and I was just wondering if there's actually a chance that Romney might win this election? I mean, I would have thought that near enough every American would be voting for Obama?

if anyone can actually understand what I just said...
#130 to #19 - greenthegunstar (11/05/2012) [-]
Thank you, foreign friend, for understanding how THIS American feels. I mean, Romney's supporting somebody who thinks rape is a GOOD thing, for Christ's sake.Romney himself can't even keep his mind straight on what he wants. Hell, give him tomorrow, and he's gonna be voting for me.
User avatar #131 to #19 - redJericho (11/05/2012) [-]
It's pretty damn close.

Romney has the ******** vote and the rich person vote. Rich because he's republican, and ********* because they all think that "Obama was so bad, we better change presidents".

Obama gets most of the middle class and poor people, just about everybody else needs to be convinced one way or the other. But guess who has more money to donate to the candidate in order to win over those undecided people, poor/middle class or rich people?
User avatar #73 to #19 - SniperKitty (11/05/2012) [-]
We have voter restrictions going on. Because when you take a poll of ALL voters Obama is winning by a landslide, if you poll the LIKELY voters Romney is leading him. So the Republicans in states like mine (Ohio) are trying to keep unlikely voters away so that Romney has a higher chance to win. From what I've been reading it's close but Obama is still leading, but if these voter suppression laws really DO keep people away (it's backfired BIG time on the republicans in my state though) then Romney has a very good chance to win.
User avatar #74 to #73 - Marker ONLINE (11/05/2012) [-]
The courts are finally catching onto the these "Voter ID" laws, though. The people making these laws will eventually realize that they've been caught. Hopefully it's all out the window by tomorrow.
User avatar #78 to #74 - SniperKitty (11/05/2012) [-]
My state tried to pass a lot of different ones that were all turned down by the supreme court. But they eventually were able to restrict early voting hours, but we've had a higher turnout than we did in 08'. It's actually inspiring seeing people wait 90+ minutes to vote and a lot of them are first time voters and these voter suppression laws haven't scared them away. I think Republicans should lose all their seats just for these stunts alone, it's absolutely ludicrous, our constitutional rights are challenged right in front of our faces, I'm surprised there isn't more upset.

There has been rumor that Republicans will challenge Obama's victory if he wins based on all the voting complaints they've gotten from people not being able to vote. They will cry "recount" even though the problem was caused by them. But that's speculation, we will see...

Then you've probably already seen this.
User avatar #84 to #82 - SniperKitty (11/05/2012) [-]
Yes, it's sad that you get more truth from a TV show than the actual news. UFOs have been reported more than voter fraud, it really should be illegal to have to show your ID since it's illegal to make someone pay to vote, and you have to pay for driver licenses and all other IDs.
#123 to #84 - candysplosion (11/05/2012) [-]
The only issue with not showing ID is that they're trying to restrict voting to citizens. We have a large illegal immigrant population where I live, and many of them are just as passionate about certain candidates as we are. Only problem is, they haven't become citizens. Not to get into the illegal alien issues here, but that is why they require ID
User avatar #145 to #123 - SniperKitty (11/05/2012) [-]
There are more reports of UFOs than there have EVER been cases of voter fraud. It's a non issue at best, it's just a cover so idiots believe it's really an issue when it's not. It's simply a scapegoat for them trying to keep people from voting.
#146 to #145 - candysplosion (11/06/2012) [-]
Just a note, the logic behind your comparative argument is a bit flawed. UFO sightings are largely regarded as being false or easily discreditable. And a low record of voter fraud might actually suggest that the ID laws are working.
User avatar #154 to #146 - SniperKitty (11/06/2012) [-]
No because this is the first year they've been like this, in the whole history of the US we've had less than 40 voter fraud cases. It makes UFOs more credible than voter fraud. It's not a flawed argument, by their argument we should be preparing for the alien apocalypse because if less than 40 cases in the history of the US is enough to start this this year, then the thousands a year should be more than enough to convince them to start preparing for that as well... Both ideas are ludicrous and idiotic, that's why they are comparable.
User avatar #120 to #84 - sketchE ONLINE (11/05/2012) [-]
im sorry but what? every person in the U.S. should be carrying their I.D. on them at all times. seeing as most will be driving to their polling place anyone who doesnt have it is breaking the law by driving without a license. why should it be illegal to make someone prove they are who they say they are not someone who voted shaved their beard and voted again.
User avatar #144 to #120 - SniperKitty (11/05/2012) [-]
Because it disproportionally effects the elderly (who can't drive) and the poor (who can't afford to drive). It's also illegal to poll tax and you must pay for a license therefor it's actually unconstitutional to require it.
User avatar #148 to #144 - sketchE ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
it costs i dunno 3 bucks for a state issued id. the elderly drove at one point in there life and should have one lying around somewhere. ive got people born in 39 who still have theirs.
User avatar #153 to #148 - SniperKitty (11/06/2012) [-]
Regardless it's still unconstitutional to require someone to pay to vote, and that's what requiring a license does, it makes you pay to vote. And I guess you don't vote seeing as you don't know you have to have a valid ID with your current address on it.... So no they can't get their old licenses out.
User avatar #97 to #19 - dengekisushi (11/05/2012) [-]
Surprisingly, the race will be pretty close in the end, in my opinion.
There are a lot more people than others think that are for Romney, even though he's a nut job.

Voting takes place tomorrow, where we will find out who will rule our country.
