No, their products are cheaper than ours because they pay their workers like, 30 cents an hour...
User avatar #6 to #1 - sparkyoneonetwo (11/03/2012) [-]
They also use way cheaper less safe materials.Such as lead paint an other things like that

Their government also purposely holds down the value of their currency.

There was a plane hijacker in Russia and instead of letting them fly it into some **** they just shot it the **** out of the air. Long story short nobody ever tried to hijack a plane in Russia ever again.

If this happened after 9/11, I wouldn't blame them.
The U.S. would probably do the same now if the people inside the plane couldn't do something themselves.
#141 to #61 - Rascal (11/04/2012) [-]
You realize until 9/11 anytime a plane was hijacked the hijackers just demanded money and other things before landing the plane. We had never seen someone hijack a plane for the sole purpose of killing themselves and anyone else on board. If a plane were to be hijacked in America again we would shoot it down too.
User avatar #158 to #141 - esmebuffay (11/04/2012) [-]
It happen pre 9/11, and their intentions are irrelevant, they shot the ****** down without thinking twice and were better off for it.
User avatar #125 - tonyri (11/04/2012) [-]
Anyone convicted of the death penalty in China isn't put on death row for 30 years. They shoot them a few days after the trial and bill the family for the cost of the bullet.
User avatar #145 to #125 - Hreidmar (11/04/2012) [-]
Billing the family just for that bullet is a bit cynical.

I like it.

It also sucks living in a society where our every move isn't monitored and controlled by the government! Boy, I'd totally love to be shoved into a school with 100,000 other kids and to be forced to memorize instead of learn! Boy Golly, China seems so awesome!

So that's why their products are cheaper than ours... And I thought it was because people their have to work 16 hours a day and get paid less money in a week than you ************* get for an hour of work
You are really a ******* idiot if you want your country to be more like china...
#3 - jedic (11/03/2012) [-]
Yea! We should be like China where we don't allow basic human rights. Plus if the guy was that damn stupid to sit in the windowsill a SWAT sniper, or anyone with a gun for that matter, could've gotten him easily.
User avatar #14 to #3 - darkshadoww (11/04/2012) [-]
He lost all human rights when he took a child for hostage and threatened to throw him out the window and kill him if he didn't get his 3 demands.

l0l0l. You're horrible, shut up.
#19 to #14 - Rascal (11/04/2012) [-]
I think he was referring to china in general instead of this case. Like the Chinese government forcing people to have abortions would be seen as a breech of human rights in any western country.
User avatar #23 to #19 - torchrose (11/04/2012) [-]
Well if they followed the one-child rule, forced abortions wouldn't be a problem.
#59 to #23 - jedic (11/04/2012) [-]
Sounds simple, doesn't it? Just follow the law and everythings fine. But the problem with this kind of thinking is that it is based on the assumption that you have basic freedoms that the law cannot touch. The same isn't true in China. They tell you where to live, where to go to school, where you work, how much you get paid, and so on. I, for one, couldn't handle living as a single cellular unit or robot in the entity that is China. So thus you have people trying to skirt the laws and they either get forced abortions or forced sterilizations. Sometimes even worse.
#227 to #59 - theasianminority (11/04/2012) [-]
china isn't like that anymore. It's alot more capitalistic. you can go to whatever school you want (even american schools), you can have whatever job you want, etc etc. That being said, China has its own problems and so does America. The biggest problem with the 2 nations are the huge culture differences which makes it extremely hard for them to understand each other.
#72 to #59 - angelious ONLINE (11/04/2012) [-]
thats really cool and all but "they will tell you how much you get paid"

are you claiming that you decide how much you get paid for your work?

cause that sounds amazing....
#79 to #72 - jedic (11/04/2012) [-]
The main difference is that you can choose where you want to apply for a job and thus you are in-fact choosing the amount you will get paid by what you apply for. In this economy it doesn't really feel that way, but it still holds true. Plus, you have to take into account that in different parts of the country the same job pays differently.
User avatar #83 to #79 - angelious ONLINE (11/04/2012) [-]
well choosing how much to get paid for your job would have been a bad idea anyway :(

but what i understand is that not all chinece live that way and that there are some people who actually work and get paid nicely (in rich areas like hong kong) but then again im not really interested in china so i dont know...
User avatar #89 to #83 - jedic (11/04/2012) [-]
Yea, it'd hyper-inflate the economy and thus nobody would be able to buy anything.

China has adopted a sort of Capitalist-Communist system ever since Mao Zedong got his ass bit because they simply couldn't survive. So, while those near the sea have more freedoms because they need to practice businesses and Hong Kong is rather nice (simply because Britain, I believe, had control of it for the longest time) doesn't mean the country is free. The further inland you go the ******** it gets, if I remember correctly.
User avatar #212 to #89 - angelious ONLINE (11/04/2012) [-]
i know its not free country ^^

and please dont call china a communist country. it is an insult to all those who really are communists.....

Do I really have to spell it out for you? I mean really? A government like China's only cares about keeping China an 'effective' communist country no matter the cost to human life, freedom, and happiness (unless, of course, you're a politician). To continue on, if we were to be more like China then you'd bet your silly ass that they would censor the internet no matter who the **** said no and they'd probably use the Russian-Made Protester cookers ( you know, that device against riots that uses microwaves to cook the brain and 'stun' the crowd ) or just kill you outright if you said anything. This is just one of the many examples of stupidity that would go down if our politicians had ultimate power like in China.

I'd personally rather have a country where you have freedom rather than a country that kills your stupid ass if you try to say anything even if it does mean a 'less effective' way of handling criminals.

Actually, the reason Chinese products are so cheap is that for the most half they are made like **** .
#340 to #338 - rotinaj (11/04/2012) [-]
And their laborers are paid less than a dollar an hour. Not to mention that they can pollute wherever the **** they want and give no ***** .
User avatar #341 to #340 - amsel (11/04/2012) [-]
And there never used to be labor unions. But lately they've been forming and Chinese Manufacturing is almost dead. People are either moving back to Mexico or back to America recently to save money on transportation/offer supply chain flexibility.
#223 - ManicalMayhem (11/04/2012) [-]
Actually this is the main reason thing are cheaper there....
