I'm literally at a boiling point right now
1. First of all, this looks like it's fresh off Tumblr, 9gag or Facebook. It instantly reminded me of that incredibly dumb post about the supposed "units of pain" that a woman feels.
2. If the word "sapiosexual" were any more forced, it would ******* burst from your computer screen. First of all, it is not a word. It's not in the several actual dictionaries I own, it's not on Merriam-Webster, not in Oxford Dictionaries Online, there's not even a Wikipedia entry about it.
3. It is not a NOUN, it's a ******* adjective. If you make up a word, at least know what part of speech it actually is. But since it's a noun, the description makes no ******* sense: "a behavior that something something". That's like if I said: "Are you sapiosexual (what a dumb word)? - Yes, I am behavior of becoming attracted to intelligence".
4. The concept behind this is so stupid it pains me just to think about it. Really? Sexually attracted to intelligence? That makes no ******* sense. The idea has probably been thrown in by hopeless basement dwellers or permanent residents of "the friend zone", who are very fond of their own alleged "intelligence" and think that hot women should throw their panties at them every time they exhibit their all-encompassing wisdom. But would they ******* do the same for an very unattractive, but smart girl? NO!
Go on, hate. I don't care. I will try to fight stupid **** like this every time I see it, even though I'm probably vastly outnumbered

purpose of life is all about ensuring your genes survival and replication. Inherently, Women look for survival traits in a man (such as social proof, financial sercuity etc) whereas men look for replicative traits in a woman (most notably looks, i.e. hip to waist ratio that produces the healthiest offspring). My point is that looks, especially for a man is always going to be important at the end of the day and I really don't care about personality or intelligence as long as the girl's a nice person. As simple as that.

I'm not an arrogant cunt to disregard dumb women.

yes but only in an emotional sense which isn't prominent when it comes to male sexual instincts. Male sexual instincts are based more on a visual stimulus than on an emotional stimulus. Being sexually engaged in an emotional sense does help but it ain't no deal breaker if the girl is as fat/ugly as **** . If I had to choose boobs or brains, I would choose beewbs.

Does this mean my relationship is nothing since we don't match that criteria of what the relationship is all about? I mean look at me! I am the farthest thing from being the girl you go out to for "looks" but he loves me for my smarts and he thinks I am beautiful enough for him... It isn't all about looks.
Ib4 red thumbs

User avatar #295 to #283 - amoussa (11/03/2012) [-]
yeah but natural selection often ensures the best match. Women go beyond looks since they're creatures of sentiment and emotion. As for your partner, he probably loved your warmth. Without sounding like a dick, it was probably the best he could go for. Maybe he's one of the few men out there who seeks for traits beyond looks and is rather sensitive.

I may be quite shallow when it comes to looks but my standards aren't ridiculously high (like wanting a super model or something). If the general female population place high expectations on me to be confident, alpha or conform to other personality traits that I clearly aren't, then it's only fair for me to place high expectations on them with looks. Also, not saying I'm stunning but I at least make the effort to stay in good shape so I'm not settling for a fat chick.

inb4: red thumbs because I sound like a shallow dick

Look here pal! I love this girl because she loves me. We went to a school where my class had over 400 kids and yet I wanted this one! You sir are an ass for also saying there is no sexual attraction between us and she is the one girl that turns me on more than anyone else! I rather have cushin for the pushin than a sack of bones anyday!
User avatar #307 to #302 - amoussa (11/03/2012) [-]
I think I have chose my words wrong there. Didn't mean to say you two aren't sexually attracted to each other but I meant that intelligence/personality/interests is not a trait of sexual attraction. I think dating and sexual attraction are two separable things. Dating is more about being emotionally connected whereas one night stands are all about sexual attraction (where intelligence would not raise any boners).
User avatar #296 to #295 - amoussa (11/03/2012) [-]
also, I think your case is simply attraction rather than sexual attraction. You may be attracted towards one's personality/interest/intelligence but you wouldn't get a boner over it.

I tried to look the word up in a dictionary, nothing really came up. Must be a new word or something.
The idea of being attracted to how intelligent someone is isn't that far-fetched, but being attracted to intelligence alone is not possible.
For example, you meet two ladies, both of which are easily 9/10 (now fj its ok to dream sometimes, coz meeting two girls 9/10 who are interested in us is about as close as Alpha Centauri is to our pokemon card collections)
Both girls are equally attractive but one is much more intelligent, if you find yourself being attracted to the intelligent one then I understand how the term sapiosexual behavior comes into play. You cant tell me, however, that if the intelligent girl was a 1/10 you would still hit that, it just doesn't compute.

What if someone were to be asexual and not attracted to either gender, but instead started feeling more attracted to people with a higher intelligence?
User avatar #215 to #210 - Kekuchi (11/03/2012) [-]
That person might as well be attracted to a computer (continuously upgrading ram and getting more "sources of knowledge"). **** , with an encyclopedia of some sorts this person would reach the epitome of arousals and attractions.

I would say to some extreame (for some people) that a 5/10 architect would beat a 9/10 tradie (thats me trying to keep the professions somewhat similar, nothing against tradies(could have used hundreds of jobs, both indoors and out))

But then it brings in the debate as to whether it's the intellegence or the personality, ie. if somebody is happy doing the same thing day after day you may not like them (ie the tradie) and an architect clearly has some 'get up and go' about them to get the degree then possibly get a promotion (inbefore tradies can also do this)

Then it also brings up what defines intellegence.... Book smarts? Street smarts? Being well rounded?
User avatar #229 to #219 - Kekuchi (11/03/2012) [-]
Quite interesting. I completely disregarded the generalized understanding of what "intelligence" really is. To each person it could mean a different thing. To a person more concerned with politics, a person who is aware of the political on-goings and has ideas and thoughts about the matter would be more attractive than a person with a vast level of knowledge in C++ or graphics design (things that are completely different).
Lack of knowledge may not be the factor that should be considered, may be its the ability to comprehend; I may not know a lot about osteogenesis imperfecta, or its implications on the longevity of dentinal health, but if you teach me I'll make an effort to absorb and learn it. There are those who won't make an effort, willfully categorizing themselves as unintelligent. That, to me, seems more important to be aware of than knowing if someone is lacking in knowledge or not.
