h... how is that even possible D:

It is quite simple, it is a gif that has had its extension changed to jpg.
While the file is now officially a jpg, the data that the animated gif consisted of stays the same, and while your browser is told it is a jpg it still reads it as a an animated gif.

When you go to save it, type ".gif" at the end of the name. Problem has been solved.

How you you change the extensions?
User avatar #19 to #15 - taxation (11/03/2012) [-]
On a PC running windows 7:
control panel -> appearance and personalization -> folder options
click "view", go to advanced settings then click to deselect "Hide extensions for known file types". Once that's deselected, they should by default show up at the end of the file name in win explorer, so double-click, delete and retype the new extention.
Alternatively to /b/ advice it, just delete system 32. Both speeds up your computer AND gives you full access to file property changing options!

I did this, and it did change the gif into a jpg image.

But when I post it on FJ it gets turned back into a gif format. Help?
User avatar #228 to #226 - taxation (11/04/2012) [-]
Sorry but that, I don't know. Could give a go at posting the .jpg image version on facebook, resaving that picture and then posting that here. That's the only thing I can think of, and google's not helping much.
User avatar #21 to #15 - Lambda ONLINE (11/03/2012) [-]
Be careful that you do not change the extension to anything other than an image file.
I'm still cleaning up all the blood.

The T.V show is Doctor Who. The clips are:

The Gasmask is the antagonist in "The Empty Child" season 1.
The weird bald things are the Silence and are an enemy from the first episode of season 6, the astronaut is also from that episode.

The stature of the angel turning it's head though is a Weeping Angel, a creature that is only a statue whilst it is being perceived by another creature.

Essentially, they are the perfect predator. If you do not yet know what they are yet then I highly suggest you seek out the episode "Blink" from season 3. It was written by the current head of writing, Steven Moffat, and is considered by many to be the best episode for people unfamiliar with Dr. Who to get a grip on the series and the themes present.
User avatar #116 to #99 - ultimoz (11/03/2012) [-]
I disagree though because there's not much doctor, you don't exactly get to know him.
User avatar #121 to #116 - snowshark (11/03/2012) [-]
Ah, that is the point though.

It's a soft introduction to the things that the show is about. Often if you're dropped right in with the Doctor then his bizarreness can overwhelm everything else. I mean, look at the Russel T. Davies run of episodes. There's a great deal of terrible episodes in that run but the Doctor is just so charismatic that he pulls you on through.

Blink works because it is a well written and intense episode that gets you to grips with what the show is like at it's best and leaves you gagging for more info on just who the doctor is. It works because the main characters, just like the person being introduced to the show, has no idea who the doctor is or what is going on but everything is gradually explained, you're not meant to just accept anything or to understand the pretext.

I always found Russel T. Davies' episodes great. Ever since Stephen took over the episodes have become increasingly corny. Especially Matt Smith's second Christmas special (the first was brilliant). Sometimes Stephen pulls of great episodes but hes really over using the weeping angels. They aren't scary anymore, that atmosphere has changed with them.

And I always suggest people should start from the ninth doctor. I think his series really gives you an amazing idea of what Doctor Who is like. I definitely thought so when I first watched it back in 2005.

Well, Davies doesn't really -have- a writing style. He just likes things and puts them into Dr. Who. Titanic, Werewolves, Farting, Mass Media, Gameshows, etc. In fact the only episode that I can't find a lot of faults with is Midnight, which Davies himself seems to dislike. He just throws ideas into Dr. Who and then tries to worry about the continuity later.

Moffat is corny, however the majority of his episodes are not, imo. He seems to focus on either modernizing old enemies or coming up with entirely new ones. The empty Child, Blink, Silence in the Library, The Girl in the Fireplace, all contained interesting and unique new enemies for the doctor to face. Moffat's style of enemy tends to take a simple concept and then add threat to it. The Silence? Your fear of being watched. Vashtanarada? Fear of the Dark. Weeping Angels? Don't look away.

I also do not think he has overused the Weeping Angels. Over the course of 4 series he has used them 4 times (Once was just a cameo in The God Complex). However Davies overused the Daleks to the point where they lost any threat they formerly possessed. They were the main antagonists in 5 episodes over 4 series and the series final enemies THREE times out of 4.

Davies also left a very cruel sting in his tail when he left the series and made sure to drive it right into Moffat when he couldn't do anything about it. The final episodes (Which were just a load of episodes about the Doctor brooding and making 0 character development) ended Davies' run with a bang and the doctor's final farewell was used to ease the passing into a new, different doctor who oh who am I kidding. Tennant hated his final line! Davies put it in there because of his famous ego getting burned by Moffat.
It made the transition into Smith harder than it already was going to be. We know that Davies can do regeneration right, look at 9s regeneration, however 10... dick move, Davies.

You didn't like David's regeneration? I loved it. Half the girls i know who watched it cried.

Stephen's episodes were fantastic, I agree. I actually think its the other writers making things corny (apart from the Christmas special. I especially hated Dinosaurs on a spaceship and A town called mercy because the Doctor wasn't at all himself. He pulled out a gun and almost shot that doctor person...

Personally i'm looking forward to Matt's regeneration, I doubt he could pull off such a great one and I'm starting to hate his episodes. I want another doctor like David, funny at times but can be very serious, unlike Matt who can rarely be serious.

A regeneration is more than just a farewell from an actor. It is a passing of the torch. It is a sign that one face is going and another is replacing it. The regeneration is a momentous occasion to be met with tears of happy memories of the past and optimism for the future.

"I don't wanna go."

Does that line fit any of the above criteria?

Steven's episodes 'are' fantastic, however the other writers do add something very good into the mix. E.G: The Doctor's Wife. That is a truly amazing episode.

I kinda disliked Dinosaurs on a spaceship too. As well as The Power of Three. Both were penned by someone other than Moffat. I did like a town called Mercy though because the doctor actually 'was' acting like himself. Let's not forget some of the other times he has held a gun and nearly killed someone. When Jenny died, that was one. The Time Lords returning, he was contemplating shooting Rassilon or The Master.

That is the point of the Doctor. He isn't an angel. He is a devil trying to make up for his actions. We don't know what he did exactly in the time-war but it clearly changed him and it's clear that at the moment, he isn't safe on his own. The companions are there to keep him at his best.

Also, Matt is actually 'always' serious. That's the fun part about him. His humour is very different to Davids. Davids was natural, Matts seems forced. If you watch Matt closely then it's clear that his humour is just his front. It is the smiley face that he puts on for those around him. Normally, the people who are the funniest are the ones who need to laugh the most. Matt is playing two doctors at once. The funny, jovial doctor who flits from place to place being the galaxy's best mate and the old soldier, haunted by his past.

The best episode to see this is, in my opinion, the doctor's wife. He has a very dark moment where you can see he is physically restraining himself from hurting Auntie and Uncle as well as the moments of sincerity with Idris. He is my favourite Doctor.
