I will post the exact same comment I posted this last time this picture was posted.

The left ring finger doesn't have a vein that connects directly to the heart, people in the olden days used to believe it did, and the tradition stuck.
#37 to #9 - anon (11/01/2012) [-]
It doesn't say "directly"...
It says "connects to the heart" and all the fingers have veins that connect to the heart. That's how we have blood in our fingers.
So thumbs up for you, and down for for OP!

If you can't see it, check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Venoussystemen.svg&page=1

Anyway, no, the left middle finger does not contain any veins that go straight to the heart. I don't think there are any veins or arteries that end straight, as in, without branching into capillaries.

Also I think that 'tradition' dates back to before anyone knew about this stuff.

It isn't ******** , look up the story of Richard Davis, inventor of the bulletproof vest, it's all true.
User avatar #125 to #67 - MythBuster (11/02/2012) [-]
false. he created the first all kevlar vest, not the first vest. there's a huge difference there
User avatar #126 to #125 - andalitemadness (11/02/2012) [-]
Yeah, but still, it's the one we use today and its the most dependable.
User avatar #127 to #126 - MythBuster (11/02/2012) [-]
yeah, but still, he didn't invent the bullet proof vest retard, he invented the all kevlar vest. just look at it this way, john browning revolutionized firearms but it doesn't mean he invented them

There's no need to stoop to abuse, I was only saying it isn't complete ******** . I agree he didn't invent the bullet proof vest, I just meant that OP was not completely off.
User avatar #129 to #128 - MythBuster (11/02/2012) [-]
he was actually pretty far off. my previous comment defeats the purpose of you commenting anymore, your argument is invalid
User avatar #131 to #129 - andalitemadness (11/02/2012) [-]
Just look, I say he created the one we use today, the kevlar vest, though he did not make the original one. I said this to show that OP wasn't completely wrong, which is true. Nothing you say invalidates this. It seems like you're arguing just to be right rather than to find the true solution.
User avatar #132 to #131 - MythBuster (11/02/2012) [-]
how ******* retarded are you?? the content says that he invented "the first bulletproof vest" he ******* didn't, he created the first kevlar vest. he was wrong, it's as easy as that. boeing made the first 747 passanger plane, did they invent the plane??? no. it's as easy as that, there's no arguing it. op was wrong. if op said "first kevlar vest" it would be correct but he ******* didn't, what do you not get about that?? it doesn't have any truth to it because the statement he made was false. you're just making yourself seem like a total retard by defending the op
User avatar #134 to #132 - andalitemadness (11/02/2012) [-]
You're not getting me? I'll try to be clearer. I did NOT say he invented the first bullet proof vest, though I agree OP said that. I agree also that OP was mistaken. What I am saying is that it is not complete ******** ; that is, there is some truth in it. No he did not make the original bullet proof vest, but he made the one we use today. That isn't what OP said, but I'm saying that it isn't completely wrong. And it's not like the 747 thing, because we still use the 747 along with other planes. It's more like saying Europe invented the hand grenade because they made the type we use today, though the earliest version is from Byzantine times-but these are less effective and are not used today.
User avatar #137 to #134 - MythBuster (11/03/2012) [-]
maybe this statement will help you.. if i say that an apple grows on a tree and it's bright pink. is this statement true?? no. it's not, although the part where i say it grows on a tree is true, it doesn't matter since i said the apple is bright pink. although it contains some truth, the statement as a whole is false. op is wrong, you are wrong, have a nice life
User avatar #136 to #134 - MythBuster (11/03/2012) [-]
just because chevy made a car that i drive today, it doesn't mean that they invented the car. the truth in his statement is irrelevant since he said that the man invented the bullet proof vest, which he didn't. i understand that the man invented the one we use today but that is so irrelevant since op's statement is false. you are one stubborn mf. just stop before you embarrass yourself anymore
User avatar #138 to #136 - andalitemadness (11/03/2012) [-]
Stop using those sorts of examples, they don't really apply. Your driving a chevy isn't the same. It would be more like if they made a completely new version of the car and then someone said they invented the car. The bullet proof vest as we know it today was invented by Davis. When someone says the word bullet proof vest, we don't think of the ones used in Byzantine times against gunpowder, but the kevlar ones made by him, and obviously people are going to know what he meant because the guy was a pizza man; they are not going to think someone from a long time ago was a pizza man, and it is mostly common knowledge that old metal bullet proof vests used to exist before modern ones. The other thing is, if you look above you will not find that I have ever said what OP said was true; I said I agreed he was mistaken. However, what you say, that the first one is ******** , I don't find a fair judgement.
#139 to #138 - MythBuster (11/05/2012) [-]
actually it applies very well, he was wrong. when we think of modern vest, you think of a vest that is actually invented in the early 1900s. so you're wrong again. the man in the picture is wearing a bullet proof vest. the picture was taken in 1923. AGAIN, THE PIZZA GUY DIDN'T invent the bullet proof he invented the first kevlar vest. op was wrong, how do you not ******* understand this. with every comment you make, you miraculously appear even more retarded. maybe this analogy is better for you. the company that invented the first pickup did not invent the first automobile, they invented the first pickup. the man that invented the first kevlar vest didn't invent the bulletproof vest like op said, he invented a type of bulletproof vest but op said "the first bullet proof vest" which is wrong, it's not correct, give it up

Variations on ballistic proof vests have been in production since the Mid-1500s. So unless Da Vinci was tossing pies from one of his failed flying machines, I'm calling ******** . Also, ALL veins technically lead back to the heart, it's called the circulatory system for a reason.
#79 - anon (11/02/2012) [-]
Some of these are inexact and at lest one is completely false.
