Pick one.
I'd rather be eaten by zombies than killed by something coming through the stargate.

No problem! And I have a good hiding spot. A costco's.Mine is near a Home Depot,a construction site,an arms factory,a national guard base, and several farms and supermarkets in less than an hours travel.Life is good.(Please excuse the pony,my folders are a little barren)

it may work, unless looters hit it first, if so, then most of the resources will be depleted, but a store would be a good temporary place, the key is to stay in motion, stay a step ahead of the infected cuz they will always be moving, they will have no need of sleep

p.s. i have no prob wit ponies
User avatar #375 to #252 - daentraya (10/28/2012) [-]
Another idea would be to get to a high place to where zombies cant reach you, with as much food and water as possible. Then camp. The staying in motion thing means that you'll have to be on the run, and be vulnerable when sleeping. Considering how slow most zombies are depicted as, playing on this weakness could be an idea if the zombies happens to be so

i live next to a bj's and a home depot literally right next to each other, a ******* warehouse of weaponry waiting to be made and a warehouse of food most of which are long lasting that and a walmart and a dollar store within 15 mins walk

Here in Montreal (French Canadian here but speaks English) we have an underground labyrinth of shopping centers, tunnels and subways that go across the city. I've found several of such centers have one-way paths that lead to either a magnetically sealed door to the outside or a fire escape directly to the surface. Inside the mall it's quiet and the hallway is very long, perfect for marksman. It's fully stocked with medical supplies, food, furniture and reading material. Hell, there's even an electronics store there for radios. At the entrance to this magnificent hallway the door to the mall is Plexiglass (bulletproof, as I've seen a demonstration there) and locked by a basic lock that you could theoretically pick.

I win. Picture completely unrelated in every way.
User avatar #255 to #247 - SomeBodyy (10/28/2012) [-]
Unfortunately everyone would be going to the grocery stores. If it were me I would get out of town. Find some storage place in the country. Make camp a few miles away from that and make trips when necessary.
User avatar #274 to #255 - thesirofponies (10/28/2012) [-]
(Inb4 tldr)Right, the food would be taken, but their would be a GARGANTUAN traffic jam outside because it's near a highway.

Once I come out of hiding from my(boarded up and protected)house,I put down any remaining zed, take the supplies, live in costcos with my group, and try to make a nation, a new, better one, where the stains of the old world(Soviet Union,Terrorists,Bible ******* ,etc.)would be gone and we could start anew.

Of course,there would be flaws:
I live in Massachusets,so snow would be a bitch to clean up.

Zombies would be a non-issue because if what I studied in high school is right, the bodies would erode and the brain useless.

Possible raiders,slavers,and sickness.

But,a possible plan.

Sidenote: I am armed for an apocalypse. I have a standard survival kit, An AKM-47 my dad gave to me when I passed a firearms test,M1911A1 long slide, crowbar,Machete, shovel, and 2 pickaxes. I have 500+ rounds for my guns, with suppresors and tac lights to match.
User avatar #277 to #274 - SomeBodyy (10/28/2012) [-]
I'm just wondering. Do you think that if you were in northern Canada/Russia/Any other cold ass place would it be too cold for zombies to move efficiently? I imagine them being barely alive but almost paralyzed.
User avatar #284 to #277 - thesirofponies (10/28/2012) [-]
Well,think of a zed's brain like a rock,water gets in it,winter comes along,and the water freezes,it expands.The brain would split,and then it's dead.If it's not,it's movement is slow,making it a good target for my marksmen.

First of all, what zombies? Romero zombies? Cowadoody zombies? World War Z/Zombie Survival Guide (the most realistic kind) zombies?
Either way, a lot of these would be complete **** .

Area 51 - Yeah, good luck stopping 6 million refugees from taking over and running out of food in 3 days, then literally all of them becoming infected.

Air Force One - Planes require fuel and again, the refugees inside need supplies. No discussion required here.

1960s bar - Bunkers have all sorts of problems from the get-go. What happens when the power runs out? Where are you getting food and clean water from? How are you scanning for infected but not yet turned refugees? How will you stop millions of people from going in there with you? What happens when it starts raining heavily and it floods and everything rots and starts caving in? How exactly do you fight zombies effectively in close-quarters (again, zombie type is important here)?

Fort Knox - Who's defending it? The government KIND of has hundreds of millions of people to try and defend, you REALLY think they're going to squander limited resources to try and protect maybe a couple thousand people? It would be overrun quickly not only by zombies but by looters and professional criminals who know that gold is there.

Mormon vault - It's a vault run by mormons, I don't think I need to elaborate much further. Plus, see 1960s bar

Saddam Hussein's Bunker - Since when do zombies drop 20 kiloton bombs? See 1960s bar.

Prison - It's a facility designed to hold criminals, not to keep zombies out, or even for large amounts of people to survive in. (The prison is already overcrowded)

HavenCo - It's a rusting old fort in ocean that will probably collapse (the base isn't maintained any more and the operations of it ceased in 2008). Attempting to survive on the ocean has a whole new set of problems, one of which includes seaborne zombies (World War Z zombies can walk on the ocean floor in large hordes).

Continued in next post
User avatar #75 to #67 - padfoott (10/28/2012) [-]
I'm pretty sure if you try to get into Fort Knox there are triggers that set off guns that pop up from the ground. I live in KY and that's what my dad always told me. BUT I don't know if that's true or not.
User avatar #68 to #67 - gammajk (10/27/2012) [-]
Cheyenne Mountain - Again, zombies don't drop atomic bombs. Society can't function held up in one location, the same problem with Fort Knox or any of these other government-run facilities. It's a control facility, not a military base. What happens when zombies start to swarm through the entrance tunnel? See 1960s bar

Not going to comment on the last one. Either way, if you pick one big facility in the middle of zombie-infested territory, you and everyone else are going to die.

With all due respect. It is highly debatable where in fact the "safest" place is. But during the Nazi regime Anne Franks hiding spot was incredibly well hidden and smartly placed. The reason Them getting caught was due to someone who gave away their hiding place. I still thumbed up and respect your opinion my good sir. Sorry for my bad grammar.

I do insist you detract your apology, as far as I am concerned, your grammer was impeccable.

On to the matter at hand, indeed, it was a clever hiding spot, and they stayed there without the Gestapo's knowledge for quite a long time, my only point was that it had no protection from an all out attack, be it from zombies or armed, organized troops, and that it was eventually discovered, and thus lead to the death of its inhabitants.

I would honestly choose to be on a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. Think about it

-50 years worth of nuclear propulsion
-unlimited water (the ship can filter seawater into freshwater)
-the ability to land a wide variety of aircraft for food runs and what not
-you're in the middle of the goddamn ocean
-weapons are already on board

All you need to worry about is if someone comes back from the food run and they're infected.
User avatar #211 to #207 - Endofzeeworld ONLINE (10/28/2012) [-]
My dad served on the Nimitz precursor, the Enterprise.
But as for surviving on a Nimitz, they take experienced crewmembers of the poupulation of a small city to run. Its nice if you can get it, but it isnt easy to crew.
