The shadow people is something people often see while they have a so called "Lucid dream or sleep paralysis, most common in the sleep paralysis" a sleep paralysis is when you think you have woken up, but cant move your body, cant do anything except move your eyes, some cant even move your eyes. under a sleep paralysis you will experience stuff like shadow people, demons, aliens and so on. But its really just a part of your brain thats still sleeping, so you are hallucinating. This is what people have been experiencing when they think they have been abducted by aliens, because its so life like that you often cant see the diffrence from reality.

There was a post a while back that helped you "lucid dream" it was actually making you do sleep paralysis, and in the comments people where like "WHAT THE **** MAN why? It was horrible" I did this so called sleep paralysis before i knew it was that, although nothing bad really happened I just couldnt move, is this normal?
User avatar #67 to #58 - whiteowl (10/20/2012) [-]
Yea, that can happen aswell, but its pretty regular that you see, hear or feel something scary or unconfertable
#21 to #16 - funmanigro (10/19/2012) [-]
happens to me a lot, i lucid dream and some times it ***** up. Also you might hear a very loud noise when in sleep paralysis or a very loud pounding, its just the sound of blood rushing through your ear amplified by your brain. the best solution for sleep paralysis is to hold your breath, holding your breath shocks your body out of sleep paralysis.

the closest thing i saw to a shadow person was when i was about 8 years old. I was home alone looking in a mirror when I was a man with no face, wearing a green suit, standing in the door frame. He was as tall as the door. (Slenderman with a new wardrobe?) When I turned around he was standing as though he was about to walk in and then disappeared a second later. I never saw that figure again. I hope it says that way.

saw a man*
User avatar #73 to #53 - bladebites (10/23/2012) [-]
I was having a conversation with a close friend of mine about something similar, both of us have seen something like what you described. I recall the green suit, but since you said "Slenderman with a new wardrobe", I should point out that his "skin" was black, not white. I remember when I was around 6 or 7, my parents left me home alone for the first time. After a while I got scared someone would rob the house or something and kill me (when I was little I would always think **** like that whenever I was alone, even if my family was home), so I got up and started walking downstairs to spend the night at my neighbor's house (without permission, but I was little and freaked out, so I didn't really care). When I looked down the flight of stairs, the man in the green suit was just standing there as if he was about to walk up the stairs. He didn't move, and he didn't disappear when I stared at him. For a while I was too scared to move, but eventually I just sprinted into my room and hid behind my night table until my parents got home. I never saw him again.
My friend was pretty creeped out when I told her, and she told me that when she was little and shared a room with her sister, she had a dream that her sister was crying. She woke up to find that her sister was crying, staring ahead at the foot of the bed. When she looked, there was a tall, faceless man in a green suit standing at the foot of the bed. He looked like he was slightly bending over the bed, but he was frozen and never moved. They both just stared and cried for a while, until her sister slightly moved to run for the door. When she moved, he disappeared. She's never seen him again, either.

In both our experiences, the man was "frozen", he looked like he was put on pause mid-action or something. You said he looked like he was about to walk in, so that creeps me out. I'm dead serious, that's ******* insane. There's gotta be something about this somewhere, that's just downright weird.
User avatar #74 to #73 - thejerseyjenn (10/23/2012) [-]
i thought it must have been a figment of my imagination when i was little, but now, with you and the last commenter.... wtf..
When I saw him he had skin color skin. like white human skin. but no face. But yeah he was just frozen in the doorway. I knew it couldn't have been just my mind playing tricks on me if i saw him in the mirror and after I turned around. Similarly to you, I was home alone but it was daytime.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he was real because that old house had a lot... "going on." supernatural **** , like doors unlocking and opening wide in the middle of the night, I would see old people making horrible faces coming out of my closet at night, it was terrible, even my mom admits there was something wrong with that house, and for her to admit that is something. Maybe I'll try to draw a picture of what I saw and post it as a response to your comment. Be warned, my artistic skills aren't perfected.....
User avatar #80 to #74 - bladebites (10/24/2012) [-]
No worries, I'm not much of an artist myself. My house never had anything weird happening in it, aside from random temperature crap (stoves that were turned on would be really cold, even though it was definitely hot like if it was boiling water or there was literally fire on it), but I always figured that might be something scientific. I don't live there anymore, but I still visit the place and it seems pretty normal.

guess it's story time.

When i was about 6 or 7 and was piss scared of the dark I would go into my parents bed and sleep with them. My room and theirs were adjacent but had one of those doors where it had slits that you could see through into the other room. One night i woke up and my parents were still sleeping but i had to use the bathroom, from my room you can usually see it's lit by the moonlight and isn't 100% dark and to get to the bathroom you need to go to my room. Scared as i was i got up and before opening the door i looked through the slits in it and then I saw this pitch black human figure with spiky-ish head jumping on my bed. I went back to sleep after that and still don't know if it was a vivd dream or the shadow people.

I've had a handful of encounters with shadow people. They happened at a house I lived in when I was 11. Always had an uneasy feeling when I lived there. If anyone wants me to tell the stories, I will.

Alright. Well, one night I was laying at the foot of my parents' bed, watching tv. For some reason, I decided to look over at the bathroom. What I saw was this shadow person(It was barely see-through, and it was 3d) kind of seep up through the floor and was standing at around 8 ft(the ceiling was about 10-11 ft.) It happened in a matter of seconds, and my brain didn't register, so I continued to watch tv. But then it clicked, and I looked over and it went back down through the floor. I was too scared to go to sleep, so I stayed up the rest of the night.
User avatar #36 to #34 - strifethethird (10/19/2012) [-]
something like that happened to me 5-6 years back when i was 15, it was summer so i was just laying in bad, with my face towards the wall, then i turned around and saw a shadow just standing there, i was frozen with fear, i couldn't move or breath, i was gasping for air. and it slowly started moving up towards the ceiling, i had a bunk bed at the time so i didn't see if it went through the ceiling, but once it was out of sight i was able to move, and my heart was pounding so fast and i was shaking, i tried going back to sleep but i was to scared to close my eyes, for the rest of the summer i made a fort out of my bunk bed by lining it with covers on each side.

Wow, creepy. My dad also had an experience. He was playing video games one night in the living room and out of the corner of his eye he saw a shadow person around my height walk from my brother's room to mine(neither me or my brother liked our rooms/hallway/bathroom back there. Gave us an uneasy feeling.) He thought it was weird because he didn't think he saw me even walk past him to go into my brother's room. So he got up and went into his room and asked my mom if I had gone into my room. My mom said no and lifted the blankets up to reveal my brother and I fast asleep.
#44 to #42 - strifethethird (10/19/2012) [-]
damn, my dad had an experience too, my dad use to get up at around 3-4 in the morning because he would work at night and on his days off he couldn't sleep for to long, so he said he was on the sofa just sitting there, with the lights off when he sees a shadow of a woman in a gown walking from the hall towards another couch he said that he even moved his feet so she wouldn't trip on him, she bends over to pick something up from the couch and goes back into the hallway (the arrow is her) he said that when he saw her he felt relaxed and got sleepy, the next day(when the sun rose) he tells my sister in law that she shouldn't be out with the lights off because she can trip (the only female in the house besides my mom) she tells my dad that she wasn't out and that she would be to scared to be out with the lights off. i think i saw a little shadow boy once too, in the top right room, i was sitting on the top left using my computer facing the right wall, when i hear a loud pop on the wall, i look over and i see a little shadow dart from the wall at the bottom dart towards the top wall where my bed was, i was chatting with my friend on rs at the time, he just made fun of me when i told him.

Dang. At least the girl one seemed nice/harmless. I've had an experience that my mom refuses to let me tell because she's afraid it'll follow/find us.
There's a field behind that house and in the field there's a few small forests(actually just one with a few clearings.) My three cousins, my brother, a friend, and I all went back there to explore. We got past the first part of the forest with no problems, and the first clearing as well. When we got to the second part of the forest, there's a circular ditch thing with a few broken down cars. We thought that was kind of odd, but we kept going. On the other side of the ditch, one of my cousins and I went ahead and found a dead sheep. It looked like it had been sliced open with a knife from its neck to between its legs, and completely cleaned out(Dunno if it was the farmer's doing or not, but still creepy nonetheless.) So once we saw that, we decided to head back. As we turned, we saw this completely black figure hunched over and was making noises like it was eating something. We tried to be completely quiet, but someone made a noise and it immediately looked over its shoulder at us. Even though the figure was pitch dark, I could tell it had "eyes", which I mean that it had deep eye sockets. Of course, we high-tailed it out of there, and only felt safe once we got into the backyard and closed the gate. I climbed up onto our playset and saw it running back into the forest.

tl;dr scary black figure chased us out of the forest/field

When I was child, I used to see Shadow People all the ******* time. Noone ever believed me. I remember coming out of my room at like age 11, and seeing a very large Shadow Person staring at me. He ran down the hallway and I went after him. When, I reached the living, I saw him go into our large entertainment system. I quickly looked in all the drawers. I even moved the tv. He was gone. I went to tell my Mom and she searched the house. She said I was just imagining things. I knew what I saw.

Recently I saw a creepy one. I work at music Today, which is a "middleman" for music and entertainment websites. I'm what they call a picker. I go through the warehouse and find the items. I just picked at "zone 40" which is at the very top. The receiving gun doesn't get reception nor is their good light is up there. It's rare when you pick there. I went to look for an item, turned around, and out of nowhere, I saw a shadow of a little girl crying. I quickly ran down the stairs. When I went up there again to get my cart, it was gone.

Living proof that they exist.

Damn, I kind of wish I could see them. I've always wanted to see ghosts, I used to be scared ******** by them. Now I could honestly say I'm not scared of them, even in a real-life situation when I might see one, because I've adapted the mindset that they're probably not going to hurt you. Bother you, maybe, but as long as it doesn't kill me I'm good. They're mostly just dead people, and I know if I turned into a ghost I probably wouldn't go around killing people. You're really lucky, I've always figured it would be cool to see things like that. It would definitely make a day more interesting.

I remember when I was back in high school, roughly about 7-ish years ago, I was walking to the bus stop. Oh the way there, I always pass this house where this strange woman lived. Her face looked like it was falling off or maybe she was doing meth and she'd stand out in the middle of the street to smoke. Anyway, one morning, I went by and it was kind of dark out, but I saw the shadow of a little girl. I thought she was crying since she was in a sitting fetal position. I went to approach her and ask her if she was ok and then the shadow vanished.

Anyway, I was checking around my room, checking to see if everything was calm enough to let me sleep. Then I looked over to the door and saw a shadowy, female figure. I thought it was my mom coming in to say good night. Just as I said "Night mom", the shadow vanished.

When I was very young, around the time the eldest of my younger sisters was born (so I'd be about 2 yrs old), I used to have horrifying nightmares and wake up screaming at dead on 9 o'clock every night. So perfectly precise, that my mum used to sit on the stairs at about five to nine and wait to hear me wake up.
There were times during the day when she'd come running upstairs because I was screaming to be let out of my room; I'd be at the safety gate, watching a "doggie" run around the room, which of course she couldn't see.
I'd sit in a room and watch things other people couldn't see move about. I'd say I could hear sirens, dogs barking, or children crying.

Turns out I used to hallucinate a lot, induced by sleep deprivation. I had respiratory problems so I couldn't fall asleep properly, and so my body was still half awake while my brain was alseep- anything my "concious" body heard, my "unconcious" brain turned into a dream- or nightmare. This is sort of one of the reasons I don't believe in ghosts, because I used to "see ghosts" and it just turned out to be a medical condition.
#61 to #22 - anon (10/19/2012) [-]
Pretty much same here. When the exams came, I had a long streak of sleep deprivation. About the third day, my dreams started seeping into reality. Talked to dead people. Was fun. But nothing paranormal. I know my dreams too well, so I recognized them right away.

during the past two weeks I've had some experiences in my room, it started one morning i was half asleep lying in my bed early in the morning, it was about 7:30. I heard movement in my closet, sort of like when you hear a rodent claw and scurrying, i didn't think much of it, even though i know i don't have any rodents in my house or room, it went on for a while. Then these water bottles i keep next to my bed in case (it just got cold in my room as i write this) i get thirsty during the night started popping like if someone was squeezing them, then it all suddenly stopped, i got up a few minutes later and didn't think much of it, most of last week and this week I've heard the bottles popping almost every night of the week a few minutes after turning my lights off, i would understand if they popped after i drink from them, but they're usually laying there for a few hours before i go to sleep, I've also been seeing "white people" at the end of the hall in the bathroom i saw a little one and a big one last night a boy and a man, they're there for half a second, i tell myself it's just my eyes playing tricks on me in the dark, but i'm use to that and i would normally play it off as such but these scare me a bit, they actually looked like forms, not just a random blur. and last night i couldn't sleep i would wake up every few hours, i was having a dream about my house and a poltergeist, i don't remember much of the dreams after waking up but they were scary enough to wake me up, and it was a similar dream every time i went back to sleep, my house has a bit of history with haunting, everyone who has lived here has had experiences since my dad bought it roughly 20 years ago, both my parents, and siblings have seen and heard things even my grandmother when she'd come over to visit, it's been quiet for years now, i just hope it doesn't start up again.
User avatar #50 to #35 - wakeup (10/19/2012) [-]
I've heard that a poltergeist is something that starts to exist if you believe something strong enough. It's like if the brain would imagine things so strong that they start to appear. But it's your own mind..
