That's wrong for Colorado (not sure about the other states since I haven't lived in any others), here the age at which a person can legally consent to sex at all is 14 but they can only consent to sex with a partner who is at least 14 years old and no more than 3 years older than themselves, at the age of 16 they are allowed to consent to a partner who is no more than 10 years older than themselves, and at the age of 18 they are able to consent to anyone so long as it is not a person who is in a legally defined position of trust.

I'm moving to a little town right on the Washington/Oregon border.
I mean literally on the border. I could walk for two minutes and not be committing a crime.

In the state of wisconsin, A parent can give consent for the child if they are over the age of 15... similar to drinking, except there's a minimum age limit.

are you stupid? I'm here in wisconsin and that's clearly false. Imagine this, I'm a parent and oh I give you permission to grope and have sex with my daughter without her having any say in the matter.

Obviously, it sounds stupid. But, also consider the fact that, as long as the parent gives consent to it, a girl can get married after the age of 15. Which is under the same classification as sexual consent.

I live in Wisconsin, as well, my roommate is a cop who has induldged me with this random knowledge.

Maybe in your county, but I'm pretty sure marrying age is 17 with consent of parents..

Likewise, my brother brought a girl to his Junior prom, she was 16, and her mom had given consent that they could have sex. Under the statement of the law conserning statutory rape, if a parent gives consent, after a certain age, the law classifies the act as being consensual, and therefore is legal. Wisconsin is the only state (that I know of) which does this.

It's almost side-by-side with the law conserning underaged drinking, in which, as long as the parent has given consent (classified as buying the drink, and/or being present when the drink is consumed) it is legal for the dependent to drink whilst being underaged.

Pretty sure when our school had its circuit thing (split up into classes go through various teachings, EMT, Mars vs Venus, Cop, etc. etc.) that the cop said that say a 17 yr old male and 18 yr old female have sex, they will get a misdemeanor instead of a felony, since he is only 17. However, since the male is 17, he can be tried as an adult in court. I remember my friends and I making fun of the fact that we could be tried in court as an adult at 17, that if we were actually an adult we wouldn't be in court in the first place.

In regards of my wife and I planning on being parents fairly soon. I looked up the laws considering the legal status of consensual sex, as I'm sure I'll have to face it sooner or later.
