I am by no means claiming you wrong or right, but in American schools we are taught that the war was essentially a stalemate that both sides gave up on yet claimed victory.

In the end though, the goals of both sides were as follows:
US: Conquer (what is now known as) Canada,
UK: Stop that ****, and continue to kidnap sailors for the Napoleonic Wars.
And after the combat:
US: ain't got **** from Canada. Razed Niagara in all.
UK: Still stealing dem Sailors. Burned only Government buildings in ******* Washington, making the US look bad for destroying the whole town instead.

Sounds like a UK victory to me. I may be biased being Canadian, but it seems pretty indisputable to me. I'd also like to point out that we're taught in schools that it was a stalemate, but I disagree. You could argue stalemate, but you cannot argue American victory.

not true. We blew Toronto into little bits with the detonation of the grand magazine and Laura Secord told us the Americans were coming, so we knew ahead of time and were prepared. The Canadians successfully held off the invasion. I'm not really sure why they'd tell you otherwise.

No, Americas stands for North and South America. America is widely accepted as an exchange word for the USA. Just like the dictionary says Fag is a bundle of sticks, it's still used to refer to gay/annoying people.

Also, you just said that America is not a euhpanism for the USA, but then you said
"America usually refers to either:
The Americas, a landmass comprising North and South America
The United States of America, a country in North America"
whch includes that America = USA. I don't get your logic.

Revolutionary war, technically the civil war, since the confederate states were still America because they never succeeded in leaving, the Mexican war, and if you think about it the cold war even though it wasn't technically a war.

But the real question is, why would it matter whether America started the war or not? The point isn't to start a war. A reasonable person would want to avoid war at all costs. War is a bad thing. It's only worth bragging about if you weren't the one who started it and ended up kicking the **** out of the people who did start it, like World War 2.

The Revolution, the several Indian Wars, the French-Quasi War, The Barbary War, The Mexican American War, The Spanish American War, several South American Civil Wars, The Cold War, Korea, Iraq (twice), Afghanistan, Libya. We don't ever lose, the exceptions to that are 1812 and Vietnam (which was lost because it had zero domestic support)

American soldiers were actually told that Koreans wouldn't be able to see properly due to always squinting. Get yo facts right foo

I'm an eurofag (and a soviet block one at that), but i'll admit this is true. Great Britain wouldn't have made it without the U.S. material shippings, and the SSSR got some useful stuff too (mainly raw resources, i think).
I will not pronounce myself on the D-Day question, as i think that the Union had to endure the greatest effort, but i'll admit that it was of great help.
But don't forget, the U.S. got in that war to avoid a continental Soviet ocuupation, not to steal their glory.
