Or... "I don't wanna go"

Realise that with the handing over of the episode and the series to new head-writer Steven Moffat that line was a knife in the back from Davies. Even Tennant said he hated it. Davies' ego has never been in question. He has a big oppinion of himself and his work and that one line was written that way so that it would be hard for people to lose Tennant. Think about it, it hurts doesn't it? Remember how Eckleston regenerated.

"You were brilliant. And d'ya know what? So was I."

Now that is how you handle a regeneration. I cry every time.

I didn't mind the line, but I like Matt Smith better than Tennant, so it didn't really hurt... and I don't know why, but I could never enjoy Eccleston. There's just something about him that puts me off

I don't blame you. Everyone's entitled to their tastes. He was something of a transition I think. He was an older doctor who held a lot of burdens on his shoulders. He had some really intense moments (as well as a great fan-boy geek-out over Charles Dickens) and felt very much akin to how the old doctors were compared to Tennant and Smith. Sort of a softer entrance for fans of Old Who.

I still think he was fantastic but I can see how he'd not be to people's tastes.

User avatar #144 to #128 - snowshark (10/07/2012) [-]
Eh... actually... it's really not.

Sure, it's got a lot of good to it but so much is missed out to the point where a lot of it becomes superfluous. Akira the Manga has 2000 pages to it. It would be next to impossible to create a movie that was true to the manga fully. It also wasn't finished before the movie was released.

If you like the movie then good for you and more power to you. Never let anyone say what you should or should not like. But technically speaking it has a lot of flaws.
User avatar #145 to #144 - whycanticaps (10/07/2012) [-]
What you say is probably true, I have not read the manga, so I am not aware of the probably huge gaping plot holes, but I did enjoy the movie.

Don't worry. I know that anyone who likes Fairy Tail knows how to put up with poor writing.

(Seriously, watching FT sometimes physically hurts. I'm like "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH... WHY MUST YOU HURT ME SO?!!!

Urgh... I think the... "Jiggle Jugs Gang" nearly caused me to explode xD)
#155 to #149 - whycanticaps (10/07/2012) [-]
Alright haha, I'll give you that, sometimes I'd like to just sit down and cry after seeing some of the things that happen in the show, and in the manga, but Natsu or Erza usually make it better whenever they get around to messing **** up
User avatar #159 to #155 - snowshark (10/07/2012) [-]
Oh aye, I know. There's a lot of great moments. I just wish that death was a thing in Fairy Tail. Seriously, death in FT is even less of a hinderance than in Dragonball Z. Just try counting the amount of times characters nearly die but manage to survive. I don't mean like after a battle, I mean where they get royally demolished or sacrifice themselves only to be "Severely Wounded" or less.

Erza at the end of the Tower of Heaven and then Gerard afterwards... both survived.
The master, I forgive the heart attack in the Laxus arc because it was good writing. However getting trounced by Purihito and then Sacrificing himself to Achnologia, both times would have made for great death-scenes and increased the fear-factor but... naw.

Mirajane in the Tenrou Arc. Hell, I thought she actually was dead when I saw that happen... Mira sacrificing herself for Lisanna kind of like Lisanna did for her with Elfman but... naw, she'll be fine in a few hours.

And Lisanna... went from my favourite character, wanting to know more about her to my least favourite when she was never dead in the first place and then came back and suddenly has no screentime... you'd think that her coming back would rate more than a passing mention... y'know... like half of an episode? Seems kind of a big deal to be dealt with in half an episode and never brought up again.

π_π Sorry... as much as I adore the lore and good (though horribly misplaced) humour and great characters and fluent art-style... it hurts so bad...

oye oye i came back from edolas, be happy.

User avatar #223 to #219 - snowshark (10/07/2012) [-]
Oh really? Love? Because I was very pro-Natsanna for a while. It seemed like she and Natsu had a real connection and that it might get in the way for whatever feelings he might develop for Lucy.

OR AT LEAST YOU WOULD THINK SO!!!!! *head explodes*

She's not had a single scene where she exchanges any important dialogue at -ALL- with Natsu since the episode where she returns. It's gotten to the point where I've realised that clearly she means f•ck all in terms of the story and I just want her to be one of the dead at the end of this arc where a ******** of people are supposed to die.

Why? So she can come back from the dead again and this time we can have it done right! If not at the very least we might see some greiving. Given how much Natsu grieved for Lisanna you'd think you'd see him with her more often... *breaks down into incoherent grumbling about poor writing and ill-treatment of the fans*
User avatar #235 to #223 - lisanna (10/08/2012) [-]
wait a sec... you didnt knew? there cast changed around the time of edolas's journey.
the "Fairy Sphere" theme and the story was written, redrawn and animated by another artists.

The real reason reason was that the previous artist was FIRED coz his creations LACKED the creativity that bote A-1 Pictures and Satelight needed.

You can identify the differences easily by seeing the fact that a Another infinity, High paced song by Daisy x Daisy (Towa no Kizuna) didnt had that enthusiasm in watching then watching I wish by milky bunny.
Thats when the cast changed.

unfortunately the New cast skipped the Lisanna story and GAVE the opinion that it will be added later on as a FLASHBACK.

Well i say People cant wait for me, put ne earlier in the show <3
User avatar #237 to #235 - snowshark (10/08/2012) [-]
The how, when and why matter not a jot. Poor writing and poor treatment of the fans is simply inexcusable. If the entire creative team behind Fairy Tail (which would have to include the Mangaka) was changed then it is still no excuse for mistreating the fans and the character of Lisanna. The same with how death seems to have no meaning in the series.

That said, your post was not very clear. Was the Mangaka changed or just the artists working on the Animé? Or was it just the musicians doing the themes?

Because the term 'cast' actually only refers to the actors. Meaning that if the cast was changed, the entire creative team would have remained the same and only the voice-actors would have been switched. The 'crew' are the people who work behind the scenes like the animators, editors, inbetweeners and such.
User avatar #238 to #237 - lisanna (10/08/2012) [-]
haha sorry about miss-clarity, havent talked to a sensible person in a while :P

usually people just rage like "WTFFF LISANNAY U NO IN SHOW" and such so i dont bother explaining them.

A-1 started this anime with conjunction to the manga that Hiro Mashima created.
Satelight focuses on Creativity and sending the material to viewers.

A-1 Artists, Animators and Graphical representatives changed due to "Lack of interest" that fans complained about.

since A-1 changed, Satelight took this opportunity to impose thir own ideas. this created the Diversion from the Detailed manga version that you feel now.

Lisanna's Story will come in Future episodes. Akira Ueda gain personally asked to convey the story about Natsu and Lisanna but Satelight insisted it should be a future thinking.

They believe suspense will build up viewership, they are mistaken. it only builds up rage.
User avatar #240 to #238 - snowshark (10/08/2012) [-]
Also, the question was "What is your view on the manga versus the Animé?"

I kinda got carried away... xP I ramble.
User avatar #239 to #238 - snowshark (10/08/2012) [-]
Wait... so the Animé is diverging from the course set in the Manga?

... oh...

They're going to use it as a filler arc. I've always liked filler arcs. They expand on the mythos and allow nice moments with characters we like. I just hope I understand right.

Still, Lisanna, here's a question... Y U NO IN SHOW?!

Naw, seriously. I noticed some definite changes between the Manga and the Animé at the time of the Edolas Arc. Although it's obvious and I know you've noticed them too, the Edolas Arc has several moments that the Manga didn't and they only serve to improve it. From a more detailed explaination as to what happened to Lisanna (Because the Manga's explaination was so freaking stupid "I fell unconscious and poof"), meeting alternate Gajeel and the ending with the King, although that was a little forced.

On how the Manga and the Animé handled Lisanna, I am very glad that the Animé cleared up the big question I had of "If she just disappeared, WHY DO YOU THINK SHE IS DEAD?!!!!" Especially for people as optimistic as the members of FT (esp Natsu) the missing body would be nought but a sign of hope. But completely disintegrating... still hope but hell, I could believe that. That is much better handled.

I really hope the Animé fixes some of the massive flaws in the new arc like how Bachus gets trounced in a moment by Ichiya... ffs... Elfman finally gets a moment to look cool but then... whoops, nope. That guy was a pushover. Even Ichiya could beat him in a moment.

And expand on the whole "My challenge right will be 100" thing. Erza beating them all in basically a single chapter, including a beast we never see which is supposedly troublesome even for a Wizard Saint. That needs much more elaboration. Hell, devote a few episodes to that! I just get tired of Erza walking through everything.

Also... anticlimax of Natsu breaking both Sting and Rogue with Dragonforce on his own in moments. COME ON!!!!! -_- Mashima knows nothing of tension.
User avatar #164 to #159 - whycanticaps (10/07/2012) [-]
I hear you, I really do. Erzas almost death was awesome, but it would have been a better impact if she actually had died. I wish there was some sort of blood, or when they get nailed with something they would have a gaping hole in their chest. Like when Natsu trounced Zero, all that happened to him(Zero) was he got a hole burnt in his shirt, and his eyes rolled up into his head, despite getting slammed with a fire lance type thing and then pushed through 6 or so floors of solid stone, and then into a lacrema. I expected at least a larger wound, and blood.
User avatar #166 to #164 - snowshark (10/07/2012) [-]
There's a lot of it in the Manga. The Animé skimps on it because it's easier to market to other countries with stricter content laws. Since there's no blood it's still PG13 in the US.

Sucks, I know, but since I've seen the Manga I know where all the blood should be. Also, if you need an Animé with blood, Check out Hellsing Ultimate. Those 9 episodes have more blood in them than the entire run of One Piece xD

No I haven't, but I hear it's good.
User avatar #226 to #225 - snowshark (10/07/2012) [-]
Aye. When I was done watching it I genuinely had withdrawal symptoms. It's as close to flawless as I've ever seen an Animé get with great art style (it did the same thing as FT does with the Magic effects but it did it first xD) great characters, genuinely funny moments but above all else... it is uniquely memorable.

I don't think I've seen an Animé before that I remember as much of after watching one run-through.

As for it's sequel (Eureka Seven Ao) I'm torn on it. On the one hand, it's decent but on the other it fails to capture the simple innocence that most of Eureka Seven had. I like change but the change just doesn't live up to the original.

What about you? What's the best Animé you've seen?
User avatar #229 to #226 - whycanticaps (10/07/2012) [-]
I have a lot that I like though, Claymore, Darker than Black, Full Metal Alchemist, Trigun, Black Lagoon, Hellsing, Gurren Lagan (can't spell that one haha), Gundum 00 was good too. And Fairy Tail of course, but I do wish it was just a tad more violent for realism purposes.

STEINS;GATE, I love the concept of time travel in that anime, I almost forgot about it, but it is one of my favorites
User avatar #230 to #229 - snowshark (10/08/2012) [-]
You and I seem to have similar tastes.

In that case I would suggest watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.

Don't look into it beforehand, just watch it. And watch it through. Don't be put off by the little girls with magical powers, believe me, it is right up there with Eureka seven and whilst I think Eureka is my favourite, Madoka Magica is easily the most emotionally powerful Animé... no... most emotionally powerful 13 episodes of anything I have ever experienced.

Just go into it blind and enjoy all the cutesy girls in frilly costumes and magical powers and wait for the story to get going because if it were a book it would be one heck of a page turner.
User avatar #231 to #230 - whycanticaps (10/08/2012) [-]
I'm in the process of watching puella madoka magica, only on episode 4 though, I hear it gets really messed up, but I haven't seen anything too bad yet haha. I'm checking out Eureka Seven right now, looks cool so I'll keep watching.

Aye, Renton is a great character. He feels serious but not so serious that he stops feeling like a kid.

As for Bleach... yeah, whereas FT is bad in places but redeemed elsewhere. Bleach is magnificent for the first Arc in the Soul Society and gradually gets consistently worse as you read further on.

I suggest reading Yumekui Merry (Dreameater Merry) as well. It's a very good manga which is almost coming to a close now. Lots of likeable characters and creative ideas.
User avatar #233 to #232 - whycanticaps (10/08/2012) [-]
Haha, sure it was dark, but I was expecting something a little more horrific the way people are carrying on about it xD Mirai Nikki, now that was dark.

I'm in the process of reading Fairy Tail, I'm enjoying it. I've read Soul Eater, and Deathnote as well. A little bit of Bleach too
User avatar #228 to #226 - whycanticaps (10/07/2012) [-]
Best I've ever seen is an interesting question. I absolutely loved Code Geass, The characters were amazing, the story was excellent, the battles were cool, and the twist at the end nearly made me cry haha. I also liked Deathnote, the contest between L and Light blew my mind constantly, but once L was dead I had no desire to watch it. Nothing really stands out in my mind for art quality, maybe it's because I don't pay too much attention to that, but right now I like Bleach for that reason. So I guess to answer your question, I don't really have one favorite, but I loved Code Geass for it's story and characters, and same with Deathnote until L died, and I liked Bleachs style, even though the story kinda rambles on.
