My '57 Chevy pickup. Getting ready to start tearing into it. Its a 3200
User avatar #149 to #81 - wfddfw (10/04/2012) [-]
Awesome dude! What are your plans for it?
User avatar #194 to #149 - ericforeman (10/05/2012) [-]
Well I love the color so I'm sticking with that. Someone took out the original motor and put in a chevy 350 (which is fine with me) so I'm going to put in a 400 crank and turn it into a 383 stroker. Putting in an automatic because the way everything is tuned a manual won't function optimally which kind of sucks but whatever. Its a full ton which isn't a very comfortable ride so I'm switching out the rear end with a Ford 9-inch (which kills me being a Chevy guy) because that's what people tell me the ideal rear end for them. I might go with a Mustang II front end but I'm not sure yet. Its lowered a little bit and I like where it is at so I will keep it there. Classic on the outside and more modern on the inside because (being an audiophile) I'm planning on putting some pretty sick stereo equipment in there. Thats about everything haha.
User avatar #196 to #194 - wfddfw (10/05/2012) [-]
Sounds awesome dude!
I gotta say, I like that color and I think making the inside modern would look sweet.

deck this out with the same equipment and you have an equally sexy car and with the power to weight ratio and of course depending on the transmission ( im think auto-manual track grade) then well anything can happen ..just remember this rule ..when it comes to cars anything can be done to any car if you have the money and the resources

Personally, I'm not a big fan of modern muscle cars. My dad owns an E30 M3 and a Mercedes E-Class AMG. We're more into European and Japanese cars, but damn, the highland green Mustang from Bullitt and the Plymouth Road Runner? Now that's something. If only they handled better......
User avatar #175 to #74 - Jewssassin (10/05/2012) [-]

I actually wish in Britain we had American muscle cars just for the simple fact from what iv been told they never brake down but when they do they can be a wee bit expensive to fix.
User avatar #140 to #139 - salts (10/04/2012) [-]
yes and no i depends on what brakes and im a ford fan and im gonna tell you this now you need to take care for the ford it is a high maintenance machine we take care of my dads 7.3 liter powerstroke (course this is diesel mind you) and we have half a million miles on it .. you can get a gas engine to run that far if you change all ALL fluids every three thousand miles
User avatar #141 to #139 - salts (10/04/2012) [-]
or at least close to 500 thousand itll be hard because of the high rpms found in gas cars
User avatar #153 to #139 - noshizl (10/04/2012) [-]
Probly more expensive to fix there cause of imported parts. Like here in the US I always hear about people paying mucho dinero to fix their Audi and BMW's.
User avatar #174 to #139 - theswampfox (10/04/2012) [-]
they are pretty reliable and cheap to fix and modify. Especially to camaro cause it uses the ls engines which are simple yet make big power. They are still push rod v8s similar to what was used for the past 50 years unlike fords overhead cam which is much more complex.
#198 to #139 - brianhimself ONLINE (10/05/2012) [-]
The Camaro will be available in Britain soon but it'll be way expensive since it has to be shipped overseas. Starting cost will be £34,995 and left hand drive only. In the US, Camaros start at $23,345 (£14420.27). Very cool but not a great deal.

camaro is the best performance-wise. though i like the look of the challenger the most
User avatar #14 to #11 - salts (10/04/2012) [-]
meh it depends on a couple of factors as far as performance goes my personal fav is the boss family of mustangs
User avatar #42 to #14 - bakinboy (10/04/2012) [-]
yea the boss mustangs are really good, but if youre talking base model the camaro wins
User avatar #46 to #42 - salts (10/04/2012) [-]
i would agree depending on the year i mean how base are we talking about here?
User avatar #158 - ferriumerris (10/04/2012) [-]
You know... If they were original classics and not the updated versions... it would be much cooler... about 20% cooler
#186 to #158 - Rascal (10/05/2012) [-]
I agree. In 87' the last of the great Muscle cars died with the Z28 Camaro. Mustang had been some glorified sports car since 82', and and the Challenger was dead as of 78'. Don't get me wrong, these are nice cars if you like a little flash, but what can I say? Old Muscle beats Modern any day. New cars just don't do the quarter mile like they used to, where a stock one would do it in ten seconds flat.
User avatar #193 to #186 - salts (10/05/2012) [-]
i will give you this mustang has been **** from the early 80s (skip the fox bodies..kinda) and then up to 2010 when they started getting better

um gonna ignore your comment on the glorified sportscar ...but ok you are right tho they don't build them like they used to but you have to remeber the reason they don't post times that eaisly anymore is because of all the added weight from features like the emission system and air bags saftey crap better audio equipment better A/C systems, power seats.. it adds up when you think about it
