Look at this kid..
He sits in his comer all day reading comic books and
drawing action heroes, because he has no friends and
hates being outside.
His father led him when he was ta months old, and he
has been moving with his mother from one place to
another for more than 20 times.
He has been bullied a tot, which one time resulted in
being hit on the head, and lying in a coma for ft) days.
At the age of , his uncle and probably his best friend,
who was also " years old killed himself, tea ving him
When he finaly found something he loved, others around
him tried to hold him back because he did not fit the
scene as a white boy. Even his girlfriend at that time tried
to stop him.
Despite all of these people trying to hold him back, he did
not quit, gathering more fame as he was getting better and
better. Unfortunatly this fame was also the cause for
another set back, as he got addicted to Vicodin, Ambien,
Valium and Methadone.
As if this wasnt enough, another best friend of his got
killed by a gunshot wound at the age of 32.
This man, who was barely able to shop at Kmart when he
was growing up, now ownes the mansion of the former
CEO of Kmart.
Despite of having everything against him in his life, he did
not quit, believing in his latents and doing what he loves.
1. And to the rest of the world, god gave you the shoes
That fit you, so put 'em on and wear 'em"

It's just a joke concering the lines of one of his songs.
Original is:
He's nervous.
Knees weak, arms are heavy.
Got vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti.

and he can be pretty brutal in some song, describing how he is killing kim, yet in other songs tells hailey how much he loves her in a poetic soft way.

"omg he had it tough and made it anyways, wow never happened before!"

well it has, but he is a really ispirational person who have motivated alot of people to soldier on even thou their facing tough times.

Em is the best

Some of his lyrics are stupid, but a good deal of his lyrics are actually really good which really distinguishes him from most rappers ( whose lyrics are all stupid). You're just picking one line that sounds stupid (which you can pretty much do for any band/artist) (listen to Sing for the moment or Stan)

That's what I love about Eminem. He has deep, meaningful songs (eg. Cleaning Out My Closest, Like Toy Soldiers) and then he has the crazy ones (eg. Just Lose It, and of course, Fack).

Like him or dislike him, Like Rap or dislike rap, you have to respect the man's drive and lyrical ability.

Marshal Mathers' life exemplifies everything the american dream is supposed to be. He was born into poverty, **** on his entire life, and through hard work and perseverance he not only succeeded in the music scene, he spread his influence to style, movies, television, and producing.

He went from being the goofy little white kid with no money and a drug addict mom to being a millionaire rapper, songwriter, movie star, and producer. He defied the odds that were set against him and did not give up on his dreams.

Summed up, his success proves that with enough determination and hard work, you can do anything.

Other people who share similar success stories:

Bill Clinton: Born into a low class, worked his ass off, became a rhodes scholar and eventually president.

Oprah Winfrey: Literally wore a potato sack to school, is now one of the most powerful and influential women on earth.

John D. Rockefeller:One of six children with a deadbeat dad. Worked his ass off and did oil refinery.

Ozzy Osbourne:one of five kids, both parents blue collar. You know who he is now.

J.K. Rowling: She was on welfare when she started the Harry Potter books.

Chris Gardner: Ever see the Pursuit of Happyness? The guy Will Smith played.

Jim Carrey: His father worked in a factory, but hours started getting cut. Jim worked 8 hours a day at a factory while still attending high school to help support his family. He dropped out of school to do sitcoms.

User avatar #32 to #27 - PubLandlord (10/04/2012) [-]
But for those 1% or even less of people who make it, there are 99% of people who have to live those **** lives in poverty for their whole life.

The American dream is a lie just to give people false hope that they can change social classes/
User avatar #42 to #32 - tonyromee (10/04/2012) [-]
Wrong. It isn't enough to just work hard. You have to work for something greater than what you are. You can't just sit and work your dead-end job and never aspire to something greater. I work in a kitchen now, but I'm not content to do that forever. In January, I'm enrolling in police academy to be a probation officer. I've already got the bachelor's degree I need. I plan to eventually be commissioner or at the very least, sheriff.

The American Dream requires that you WORK, and ASPIRE. Without aspiration and perspiration, you will remain poor. Eminem was a dishwasher 20 years ago. He wasn't ok with that. He made himself better.

Being Cynical is fine, being ******* ignorant is completely different. The american dream is very much alive. You just have to WORK FOR IT. It was never even implied that success was easy to achieve.
#63 to #42 - anon (10/04/2012) [-]
Only 3% of children in the lowest rung of poverty make it to the top 10% of society. Working hard and believing you can become better isn't the only things that will make the American Dream come true.

You need a break, someone to give you an opportunity. Being good isn't enough, and for Eminem that was Dr. Dre. Another example is Micheal Oher who now plays OL for the Baltimore Ravens.

Being good isn't enough, you need to have the social capital to make it. The American Dream may happen, but it's NOT something that's always going to happen. In fact, very rarely does it happen and it's not done just from hard work and perseverance. It's just like how education is the great equalizer. No matter your background, going to school puts you on equal ground. Yeah, on paper these ideas look great, but in reality they aren't true.
User avatar #156 to #63 - clydeninetyseven (10/04/2012) [-]
Waiting for someone to give you an opportunity is lazy and stupid. If you refuse to look at the world with reason, and instead through a veil of self-entitlement, you will never aspire to anything in life. If you refuse to attempt to aspire to greatness, and instead wait for someone to cut down the taller stalks so your smaller stalk can feel sunlight, you are not embracing life. You are rejecting it.

Your life is yours and yours alone. Rise up and live it.
User avatar #176 to #42 - Lawlor (10/04/2012) [-]
So you're telling me 100% of all people who worked hard and aspired to something bigger then them self became successful?
#61 to #32 - samjackal (10/04/2012) [-]
The 99% that don't make it didn't try hard enough. Nobody ever claimed that the American Dream was easy to achieve. The thing about being born into poverty is that you either accept your circumstances early on and never aspire to anything with any real effort, or you hate your circumstances so much that you work and work and don't let anything stop you from getting where you want to be. Not many people have it in them to do that.
User avatar #177 to #61 - Lawlor (10/04/2012) [-]
I'm sorry, but you have to be truly ignorant to believe that if you work hard and aspire to something, there is a 100% chance, complete statistical certainty, that you will be successful in life.
#148 - anon (10/04/2012) [-]
Its probably BECAUSE he had everything against him in life that he succeeded. If he had been just another middle class yuppy, he'd be **** .

User avatar #214 to #204 - thebukman (10/04/2012) [-]
Movie might take another year or 2. The recording has been paused, because of his work on the album. The name of the new album hasn't even been confirmed yet, so it might take a while. All I know is that he's been working with 50 cent on some of the recordings, but this should be more of a solo-album compared to 'Bad Meets Evil' (which was awesome).
