huh....that certainly is an interesting view on things. Y'know, a lot of people actually wanted Washington to become a king.

I agree, however there were people who didn't want any one man to have any power. Like Ben Franklin.
#19 to #18 - Thisidisalready (10/04/2012) [-]
Also, the fact that he turned down being president for life, which he was offered. Your point is awesome added to this. Together we make Historilogicorman! the one who knows little (and sometimes random) bits of american history!
User avatar #134 to #19 - anonymousattorney (10/04/2012) [-]
Ben Franklin was actually considered as being a possible President. However, due to his deist religious views, he most likely wouldn't have gotten too many votes from the New England area, as in, the Puritans essentially referred to Franklin as an "athiest", even though he did actually believe in a "God"....Actually, he referred to it as a "Great Power", or something along those lines.
#136 to #134 - Thisidisalready (10/04/2012) [-]
Yeah, don't forget that God was actually referenced in a lot of founding text due to the Quakers of the Pennsylvania region as well. Damn, you are spot on. I sincerely respect you good sir.

Yup. Thank The Almighty Power for American Lit.
#140 to #137 - Thisidisalready (10/05/2012) [-]
Never studied american lit, but still wonder why people bitch about simplistic things. I studied history, not literature. Literature is a single person's view on a subject.
#143 to #140 - Thisidisalready (10/05/2012) [-]
History is the widely accepted view of an event. Kind of like Wikipedia, except, until the late 2010 period, people had to know something to input knowledge into historic events. Long story short, history is widely up to the person who is willing to look into the past and make their own decision. Look at Iran's rejection of the Holocaust.
User avatar #150 to #143 - anonymousattorney (10/06/2012) [-]
...Um....ok....I was just mentioning the fact that I learned that particular fact about Ben Franklin through my American Literature class, but....ok....

...This DLC looks more fun then the game. And it pisses me off that they're even making DLC when the game isn't even finished yet.

Washington worked as a mediator between the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. He wasn't a man that cared for politics.

I have no idea what you mean by "never compromised".

This is what DLC should be! It should be something that wouldn't make sense in the actual game, and was made after the game was finished. AC3's been finished for awhile now (games are generally finished a few months before launch and in the last few months they're just polishing it and finishing bugs) and they have a whole different team making the DLC for it so it's not like they're nickle and diming us like some games. I'm really happy about this DLC which is something I've never said before.

User avatar #42 to #32 - fuzzyballs (10/04/2012) [-]
why would they use a completely different game to make DLC?
User avatar #44 to #42 - esmebuffay (10/04/2012) [-]
Not a different game, just a different reality. For example people (myself included) hate it when they release DLC that they could have easily put in the game. But DLC like the Undead Nightmare (for Red Dead Redemption) is the perfect example of perfect DLC. It's still the same game in the same universe but it's a what-if situation that wouldn't have made any sense in the main story line of the retail release of the game. It's a little hard to explain but do you see what I'm saying?
User avatar #57 to #44 - backupclover (10/04/2012) [-]
I see what you're talking about and I agree with you.

I meant to type team
User avatar #49 to #47 - esmebuffay (10/04/2012) [-]
Oh, well that way they can work on DLC while the other people continue making the main game. That way the game can still come out as scheduled and the DLC doesn't have to take so long.
#74 to #32 - Rascal (10/04/2012) [-]
iirc it is supposed to be an episodic DLC that being said there is going to be a season pass which im not too happy about but at least it costs less then buying everything seperate
User avatar #37 to #32 - TheHutchie ONLINE (10/04/2012) [-]
Games generally aren't "finished" if they're unpolished and full of bugs. Also, due to word choice, I have very little idea what you're actually on about.
User avatar #38 to #37 - esmebuffay (10/04/2012) [-]
When I say fixing bugs I mean literally playing the game through hundreds of times to find any possible glitches. And when I say polish it I mean making every run just that much smoother and tightening everything up. And to reiterate (seeing as you said you didn't understand), I said I think all DLC should be like this, not fit in the game narrative but still work in the universe. For example The Undead Nightmare DLC in Red Dead Redemption, it would make absolutely no sense in the actual game but it's still fun and works well in an alternate universe type setting. Does that clear things up for you?
User avatar #39 to #38 - TheHutchie ONLINE (10/04/2012) [-]
I knew exactly what you meant by "polishing" and "fixing bugs" but yes, you have cleared up the rest of the comment for me.

The first part of my comment was intended to state that I personally cannot consider any game to be "finished" until AFTER the bugs are ironed out and the polishing done, whereas you have said that AC3 is already finished. It's not finished if they're still fixing it up. Calling a game finished before this is all out of the way is Call of Duty move, and kills a game.
User avatar #68 to #39 - olibear (10/04/2012) [-]
A game is finished when the game has been made. Not released, not bug free, but MADE. If they are polishing it up, then yes, the game itself is finished. If they can release it and it still has the same content only with more bugs, then yes. It is finished.
User avatar #69 to #68 - TheHutchie ONLINE (10/04/2012) [-]
By consumer standards, I disagree. That's like saying that baking a cake is finished when you take it out of the oven and before it's decorated, which completely goes against the common saying "the icing on the cake".
User avatar #151 to #69 - olibear (10/06/2012) [-]
Well you're comparing different things there. Completely irrelevant.
User avatar #152 to #151 - TheHutchie ONLINE (10/08/2012) [-]
Comparing different things was the entire purpose of what I just said. The words "That's like" usually lead to comparing two different things.
User avatar #153 to #152 - olibear (10/08/2012) [-]
No **** ! But they work in different ways. Therefore it is invalid.
User avatar #154 to #153 - TheHutchie ONLINE (10/08/2012) [-]
I disagree, I think they work in much more similar ways than you give credit for.
User avatar #155 to #154 - olibear (10/10/2012) [-]
No, you see, you would be right. But however, you're not. As you know, some games are released unpolished occasionally, although the developers will class them as 'finished' and just update them while bugs are found, but others release them polished, and then kill off the remaining bugs once they have been discovered. What you are basically saying is that no game is finished upon release. If this was anything like a cake, then once the cake is finished and someone starts eating it, there will be another person adding and changing things to the cake that the consumer is eating from.
User avatar #43 to #39 - esmebuffay (10/04/2012) [-]
I see what you mean, I can't really disagree.

User avatar #31 to #6 - esmebuffay (10/04/2012) [-]
Agreed, however they have a separate team doing the DLC for AC3 so it's not like in some games where the DLC's on the disc for some stupid **** like that.
User avatar #133 to #31 - spawnconnery ONLINE (10/04/2012) [-]
Well that's good. However, that does not excuse the fact that they are announcing it even before the game is out.

Yes, I have to admit it bothers me as well.

User avatar #141 to #139 - esmebuffay (10/05/2012) [-]
Yeah, I'm more willing to let this one go because they have a separate team of devs to do DLC for AC3 so the original team's not taking any of their own time out to make the DLC.
User avatar #142 to #141 - spawnconnery ONLINE (10/05/2012) [-]
Yeah, at least it's not what Square Enix did with FFXII2... **** that's a retarded name...

Yeah that was completely ******** , a perfect example of what DLC should NOT be. Making the ending DLC, If I bought that game I would have been so incredibly pissed.

Yeah me neither, in fact I've never played a single final fantasy game, which I'm not regretting considering the developers are apparently greedy cunts.

Yes I've been hearing that alot lately
