Atheism is the refuting of the existence of god with the evidence provided, what you are talking about is each individual persons reaction to religion.

Me personally, I am an anti-theist. Religion is harmful, not because it's ability to start wars, it's cultist lifestyle, child indoctrination, determent to the field of science, etc etc. But because of what a person must accept to be religious: Ignorance (or more commonly called faith). It is truly sad to see people be skeptical in all things in their daily lives, yet when it comes to god, they turn a blind eye, and in my opinion this mindset is more harmful than any way.

I understand the definition of atheist, I was just saying that people going out of their way to insult religions are as bad as people who go out of their way to insult atheists.

So you dont identify yourself as someone who doesn't believe in religion, but someone who hates religion? That sounds borderline unhealthy. For somebody to just say they believe in telling others they are wrong sounds like a cry for help to be honest.

Religion hasn't really started a war (in any stable country) since the middle ages. Cultist lifestyle? elaborate (again, use examples in stable countries.) Most of the determent to sciences are ethical values that we need to consider regardless of religion.

You cannot restrict it to "stable countries", since many of the regions that are increasingly unstable is due to superstitions. (Not primarily but it is a heavily contributing factor). Also you don't need directly a war, conflict works on the same premise. 9/11 is religious activism, the surrounding conflict with isreal is religiously induced. These are happening in the world today.

Cultist lifestyle: You go to a church and pray to a deity that you believe is real, and everyone who does not believe the same story as you is wrong and is going to be punished for thinking so. (I am strictly talking about the main monotheistic religions that make up most of the worlds current beliefs). Churches are cults, it's not really debatable, they fit the definition, they are just larger than the kool aid drinking ones.

No, science and religion do not go hand in hand. The only way science is applicable is in the process of finding and executing evidence, which it actually does the opposite, yet the religious don't yield to this. The long denial of facts such as evolution have severely hurt the advancement of science.

No, the way atheist's see it: God is not proven with the evidence provided. Nothing in atheist talks about the beginning of the universe, noone does. The big bang only explains formation, not creation. Noone knows what created the universe, but we are researching it.

But they would be admitting it was bad but for good reasons. That is human morality. Doing atrocities and claiming they are for good because of divine authority is what religion does.

A man who cuts the hands off of a theif knows in any situation this would be wrong, but because of the theirs actions he feels vindicated.

A man who kills children in the name of god believes it doesn't matter what his personal morality is.
