If the government could tax prostitutes, prostitution would be legal. Same goes for weed.
User avatar #83 - esmebuffay (09/27/2012) [-]
There are a dozen different reasons why it's illegal and porn is not, none of them re very good mind you. All of them could easily be fixed, for example they could have government certified ******* that get tested ever week or so for STDs, that way they could tax them as well. The real reason they don't do it is because the government's a total cock block.

Prostitution is illegal because you're giving prostitutes money to have sex.
Porn is basically the same thing, porn actresses are paid to have sex with someone, except porn is perfectly legal in most countries.

It kind of reminds me how stupid it is over here where if you get caught with pot, you get a paraphanelia fine along with a fine for not taxing it when distributing it.

Why in the blueberry **** would you tax something that's illegal in the first place?

"Something I like is illegal so the problem isn't me, it's the law!"
Sure it is...
now get this over with and hand me my red thumbs.

because it's the companies paying the pornstars, not the pornstars paying each other.

>legal logic.

In porn, everyone get's paid
#65 - iamphoenix (09/27/2012) [-]
It's about safety and regulation.
User avatar #61 - Eventually (09/27/2012) [-]
Yes...the prostitution law is more in the interest of public health than anything else. The porn industry is regulated in the sense that they have to take certain precautions against disease
User avatar #66 to #61 - araella (09/27/2012) [-]
If prostitution was legalized it could be subject to the same regulation. The law is ridiculous
#72 to #66 - anonymous (09/27/2012) [-]
It could also be that Porn Stars, unlike ******* , pay taxes just like any other employed citizen. It's against the law to have an income of a certain amount without paying taxes.
User avatar #73 to #72 - araella (09/27/2012) [-]
And the simple solution would be to tax it. Lawmakers and people fear prostitutes because they can't get over the notion in the back of their heads that sex is dirty and bad, but it's not, it's a part of every day life and people need to get that. People also thing it's degrading to women, which it isn't, it's empowering. If prostitution was legal there would be no dirty streetwalkers, just clean, SAFE, high class, well maintained brothels that pay taxes and obey health regulations. It will be a beautiful thing.

Actually prostitution is legal. I'm pretty sure it is anyway

It's advertising it in public or whatever that is the offence
#62 to #55 - vennmc (09/27/2012) [-]
The actual act is soliciting sex. Prostitution is generally illegal throughout the U.S.

This makes me laugh extra because I have a gay friend name Holland.

Prostitution isn't illegal in my friend.
User avatar #78 to #47 - esmebuffay (09/27/2012) [-]
Nothing is.
User avatar #45 - iRetaliate (09/27/2012) [-]
The reasoning behind it is that prostitutes generally have a high risk of being assaulted or ******** .

For the most part, prostitution isn't a crime, and prostitutes are usually never punished. Solicitation is the crime.
#57 to #45 - anonymous (09/27/2012) [-]
prostitution is also used as business for the human slave trade. A lot of prostitutes are forced into it.
User avatar #58 to #57 - iRetaliate (09/27/2012) [-]
Yes, but that's also the case with pornography. I'm simply stating why prostitution is different from pornography.

In Canada, it's legal as long as you don't get caught... No seriously, according to the government prostitution is not illegal as long as it's not a threat to public order or offensive of public decency, in other words, if no one knows you're doing it, it's cool.
