The size was to big, so I had to shrink it quite a bit. It may be hard to read, but each red line represents a contradiction, each grey or white line represents a bit of scripture in the bible, grey lines are in the new testament and white ones are in the old testament.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, very nice. But it's the bible, c'mon, it says there that a magical beardy man told a woman not to eat an apple and a magical snake told the women to eat the apple and she ate it. Like we need that much info to realise that the ol' bible is nothing but a storybook.

P.S. - The story sucked balls.

The bible is actually a really good read, it's a pretty badass fantasy novel.

does "out of context" mean anything?
User avatar #18 - davvi (09/26/2012) [-]
really? you're not meant to see the bible as an exact accountance of what happened..
User avatar #19 to #18 - gladiator (09/26/2012) [-]
yet people believe that Jesus was crucified and two days later came back to life...

they sure know how to pick the logical bits to believe in.
User avatar #24 to #19 - canadiantown (09/26/2012) [-]
those people are called literalist, that is not the way the bible should be read.
User avatar #33 to #24 - gladiator (09/27/2012) [-]
so you're saying its not a factual or literal book?

i would call that fiction.
User avatar #36 to #33 - canadiantown (09/27/2012) [-]
thats basically what it is, stories telling us how to live our lives

I am assuming that everyone knows ther IS a difference between OLD testament and NEW testament. There are new rules now. Almost any time there is a new rule it will contradict the new one.

well mostly
"It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)
i mean its not like jesus liked the old testament
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)
not at all
“Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19) and “For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17).

the new testament makes any law in the old testament null and void.

God damn, how long did this take to put together?

i wont offer any religious views on this, but seriously, a person who reads books casually wouldn't propose an academic counter argument to an english literature professor, so why is a kid with a PC proposing an argument (with not no academically assessed theories) on the internet which everyone then blindly follows?! if you're going to attempt to argue against something, take the time, do some study, read what others have written and do it sensibly.

What are you talking about? This isn't OC. Are you proposing that the poster is incorrect? I'm sure that the advisory board of project reason would love for you to point out an error in one of their works.
