watashi wa gave it up for me
User avatar #171 to #124 - bronybox (09/21/2012) [-]
How?
"Watashi wa" translates into "I am",
literally it translates into "I am I" because in Japanese, the subject pronoun is included in the verb, and which makes saying "watashi wa" a self-centered thing (using "I" when it's unnecessary)

I realize that had nothing to do with it, I'm just informing you that it was impossible to know what that was just by seeing "watashi wa"
User avatar #173 to #171 - Riukanojutsu (09/21/2012) [-]
the translation was god believe in you or somthing. and watashi wa doesnt actualy tranlsate in "i am"
User avatar #175 to #173 - bronybox (09/21/2012) [-]
It definitely translates into "I am".
Just shows how much you know what you're talking about.

Watashi wa in the sentence would mean "I am" and " ****** " would translate into wanting, so "I am wanting". Which can, and usually will be simplified into "I want" when translating.

This is a result of the discrepancies in grammatical sentence structure between English and Japanese.
User avatar #216 to #175 - Riukanojutsu (09/21/2012) [-]
isnt the verb to be desu?
i though wa was just a form of punctuation

o well

"Desu" has no actual way to translate it. It's actually really hard to explain the purpose of the word "desu", just search it up.

That's either Japanese or Chinese writing in the post. (I want to say Japanese.)
Not Korean.
As you can tell, Korean has many more circles/ ovals in their writing, when Japanese does not.

User avatar #176 to #105 - bronybox (09/21/2012) [-]
Just out of pure interest, would a literally translation be
"I am wanting to" rather than "I want to",

because "watashi wa" translates into "I am"

#147 to #119 - onceapiece (09/21/2012) [-]
Oh, I see. Your eyes skipped over the first "I" in the sentence. Try reding it with the English first and the Japanese translation after. Also, Watashi wa means "I am." Watashi means "I," and wa mean "is," or "are."
