Now that I think about it, I don't think the Japanese ever made such a big deal out of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
#50 to #38 - Rascal (09/10/2012) [-]
I'm not exactly well learned, but I thought that the American bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were commited after provocation of some sort or lack of concession to peaceful resolution. I was pretty sure that the difference was; the 9/11 terror attack was largely unprovoked.
Would like to discuss in a civil manner maybe.
(please excuse my english)

It was during war, but the immense damage and innocent civilians lives that were lost can never be forgiven or accepted. It was partially the Japanese's fault for not surrendering, but remember that nobody knew what a nuclear bomb was, or what it was capable of; and the Emperor was the only one to make the decision. In fact the Japanese did not even surrender after the first bomb was dropped, hence the second one being dropped; but a lot of this was due to the Japanese not being aware of the immense devastation that the first had wrought. It is however known that all the scientists who created the bomb immensely regretted ever taking part for the rest of their lives.

The U.S. had beaten the Japanese forces back to the island of Japan. we offered them surrender, but they wouldn't. The japs started training their civilians for guerrilla warfare and whatnot effectively turning the entire population into an army. The U.S. didn't want to loose tens of thousands of troops taking the island so they started dropping conventional bombs. Surrender was again offered but the japs wouldn't take it. The U.S. then started implementing firebombs destroying several cities. Surrender was offered. The Japanese were determined. The U.S. then started debating a lot about the ethical consequences of dropping nuclear devices. The Japanese might of been told of the incoming attacks, i can't remember, but the U.S. implemented nuclear bombs. The Emperor of Japan finally surrendered.

Maybe because they bombed us first. Rape of Nangkink. Bataan Death March... Should I carry on?
User avatar #53 to #38 - sketchE ONLINE (09/10/2012) [-]
because of two things
it was war and they refused to peacefull negotiations
we rebuilt them afterwords
#163 to #53 - Rascal (09/11/2012) [-]
Also there's the fact that they do make a big deal about it. There are many anti nuclear arms organizations in japan that you just don't hear about because we don't speak Japanese and aren't as connected.
And it was sixty years ago, while 9/11's impact is a war that continues today which makes it a more relevant topic for the media and everyday discussion.
#75 to #53 - Rascal (09/11/2012) [-]
I strongly believe the reason why the Japanese are awkward is because of the nukes.

They used to be all about pride and honour, now they're all about ****** up sex and how they can profit off of it.

Prepared for red thumbs, but i still will never even remotely like 9/11 jokes.

Im sorry internet. Yes they make me butthurt because of an actual relative being lost there. R.I.P. Danial I loved him more than anything. He was trapped on the 89th floor of the north tower.

Thats my reason. Threw my penny's in the pot for today.

I understand your loss.

But it's natural of humans to joke about events they weren't involved in.

Otherwise everyone would be crying in history class all the time.

I feel bad when I laugh at these jokes because I think of the people that it actually really did hurt like you, but I still think they are funny time to time but I know I would feel the same way as you if I had someone close die.

Damn. It seems every American I meet had their family killed in 9/11. 9/11 killed 3,000 people. The population of America is 300,000,000. I have a better chance of winning the lottery than meeting one of them.
User avatar #81 to #65 - snaikravdra (09/11/2012) [-]
well, consider that any one random person probably knows at least 100 other people, which branches off into another 100, an so on... so the odds of someone knowing someone is much smaller than you think
User avatar #115 to #81 - garymuthafuknoak (09/11/2012) [-]
even so, 300,000,000 people is a **** ton. I doubt it on how I always seem to see them.
