I've had a very limited experience with Skyrim. I played it for literally 2 hours. I just failed to get into it at all. But I understand the appeal of games which are somewhat repetitive because some people like to settle into a pattern. Also, I think the most appealing aspect about it is the story-driven atmosphere, and the truly well-done graphics. They're not the most advanced graphics ever, and I'm sure Far Cry 3 (a game which I am anticipating GREATLY) will blow Skyrim away in the graphics field, but nonetheless, they are pretty damn impressive.

Well, maybe if it had gone for an actual art style over just realistic it might have passed. Other than that though, I'm guessing you've never wandered by the big flow-breaking invisible walls. When you reach those, you notice the rocks and trees have polygon counts lower about 5 and the whole "the graphics are nice because reasons" doesn't work so well.

True, I haven't. As I said, my exposure was minimal. I played for a bit then went back to Torchlight... a much simpler, FAR less expensive, FAR less resource-hogging, and somehow far more entertaining game for me.

I read why you don't like Skyrim and I can understand why, I also think it's too easy and I'm looking for an rpg that's harder and more complex, what do you suggest? (Preferably for xbox, I have a laptop and it may not be able to run demanding games very well) Also I don't care about graphics or animations, I care more for the gameplay and stuff

Dark Souls.

Better story, not being shoved down your throat by people just yelling it at you. Better combat, hits actually connect and you aren't invincible. Just having good gear doesn't mean you are invincible, it's based around how you use it. ******** itemization with actually cool looking weapons and armor. Also, when you beat Skyrim, nobody gives a **** after killing one dragon. When you beat Dark Souls, you become The Dark Lord after killing the god of the sun and killing his entire god family and all of his god friends.

Just... just watch this: youtu.be/SnmpiezsnbU

The combat is randomly swinging your weapon in an enemy's direction until they fall over. The quests are always "go here, get this, kill them, come back." There are only like 4 or 5 different styles of dungeons copy-pasted. A still low amount of voice actors for the ungodly amount of NPCs. The graphics are pretty *****, especially on the console version. The character animations are all kinds of unnatural and immersion breaking. It has huge amounts of just walking around doing nothing just so it can say it's a "big open world" because that's always a selling point. The game is piss easy and turning up the difficult just gives enemies more HP and damage points. Inventory management is an over-encumbered bitch. You can use any weapon from square one which makes weapon stats mostly pointless. Skills and perks tend to also be useless in the "mash the right trigger until you win" combat method. The story is pretty generic and boring, making you a cardboard cutout fantasy hero. The dragons can be easily killed by just standing in front of their head wailing on them on any difficulty. Any of the 'big' and 'expansive' world that isn't tied to a quest is lazily done (i.e. poor textures, bad modeling, overall crap design). Completely pointless dialogue options that don't actually change anything. The massive world everyone raves about pales in comparison to the second game, Daggerfall. Once you've taken a good look at the area around where you start, you've pretty much seen the whole game, because it all looks the same. The crafting system is pointless and broken. If you want to actually get some good gear you need to spend time grinding enemies for materials, so you can level up smithing, so you can even use the materials that you need to spend more time grinding. The spells are all cookie-cutter basics you see in every RPG, even Two Worlds 2 did that better. The movement is badly done and unnatural. The plot is boring and predictable and the ending was disappointing.

The combat is horrid that i will never defend, but the question system is the same as almost any rpg you can't put an unrealistic exception for it. Console graphic are always ****(i use the Ps3 and Pc btw the way so **** me right) but on the PC you can make that one of the most beautiful **** ever. I never really noticed the character movements except i wished they had idle animations. The open world was amazing (except dwemer ruins) i mean look at it compared to something else i never get from point A to B without running into a new radiant quest. the Menus are bad because it was made with consoles in mind a quick mod easily fixes that. You still have to make or find the weapons to use them so unless you're are cheating you're not going to walk out of Helegn with daedric stuff. You actually need to look at the starting area and a Arctic area to see that whole game( this was actually disappointing). I really dont see the faults with the crafting system because if you want things you just need to play the game, don't grind to get something just play and you will get there. the spells are **** but the plot wasn't bad it was made around a set story something that was already done they wanted you to get a full feel for the world and interact with it but they forgot to make it react back.

TL;DR 8/10 would play
Skyrim is an example of what happens when you put so much anticipation and wanting into a game, people set it up with a crazy unrealistic standard that nothing that exist currently could stand up for. the same thing happened to SSB Brawl because people put so much on the game before it comes out no matter how good it is it will be a failure in their eyes

You can only mod textures into non-mediocrity, the **** polygon counts will always be there. Character movements become more noticeable when one person randomly walks into a wall, spasms a bit, and turns around. The "amazing" open world is just the same few fields copied and pasted to the point of still being smaller than all the other games. The plot was dog ****, you know why? Because even when being literally on the chopping block you could easily feel "I am still going to save the world yet nobody will notice or care."

Dark Souls was better.

I must say I've had a different combat experience than you. I spent my battles (in my opinion) having an epic fun time slashing, blocking, switching to archery to attack my oncoming foes, and then pulling out some area effect magic for an epic finish. While there were a lot of misc and radiant quests that were just bring back someones head, there were a lot of fun ones throughout the Main and Thieve's Guild questlines that were a lot of fun that didn't require killing (if you did them right). While the same can't be said for variety in the Companions questline, the Dark Brotherhood gave a lot of interesting assassinations. While I must say the animations are a bit clunky, imagine giving everyone unique and flowing animations and still keeping the same level of graphics. Again, I must say my experience was different than yours. I encountered many enemies, camps, random events, and other amazing things throughout my journeys. In my opinion, there isnt a single RPG with an inventory system that doesnt become a bitch when it gets fuller. Yes you can use every weapon without training, but try finding Daedric weapons at the beginning of the game. The story was a bit generic, but to me it still felt epic when you really get into it. The world is much smaller than Daggerfall, but what feels bigger: The hundreds and hundreds of miles you see on a globe, or standing in one square mile and seeing a roving landscape of mountains and forests around you. I didn't really mind they kept mountains and forests for a majority of the province (they did better than oblivion).

TL;DR
While I respect your opinion, I disagree with it. I tried addressing your opinions with mine without being (no offense intended) as repetitive (as you were on story and animations). If you think about how much work had to be done on this game and the technical limitations, some things can be excused. But then again, all of this in the end is just opinion. In mine, Skyrim is great.

GAME THEORY TIME

If you give someone an extremely easy means to an end, they will always use it. Sure you could pull out all the stops, switch up your combat, use some magic, but the fact is you didn't have to. You could clear the game by taping the two triggers down with a mace in one hand and a heal spell in the other.

I'd like you to tell me maybe just a few quests that weren't just different flavors of "go here, kill them, get this, come back" with maybe the "get this" or "kill them" part removed.

>Imagine giving everyone unique and flowing animations and still keeping the same level of graphics
Insert more Dark Souls famboyism here
Also, why would animations past wind up toy robot level lower the polygon count or texture quality?

There are games where the inventory is not a bitch when it gets fuller (I don't even need to say it at this point). The reason Skyrim's was an over encumbered bitch was that besides having to go and cycle through you full as **** inventory for one single thing you need, you have to do this balancing act of throwing out a dragon bone that you need so you can pick up this quest item that you need because a ******* of iron ingots and non-removable quest items are clogging up your bags.

The story was completely generic.
"There is a huge evil coming to destroy the world!"
"Oh god, what do we do?"
"You are the only one that can stop it!"
"What? Why me?"
"You're the chosen one!"
"How did I become the chosen one?"
"Uhh..."

Bringing up your globe argument, they do have a map you know that really shows how small the world is. Your one square mile really feels like a yard when you can teleport anywhere in it instantly.

TL;DR
While I respect your opinion, I disagree. If you really had fun you wouldn't need to attempt to justify it, would you? You had fun and that's all that matters, and if you feel the need to argue that you actually had fun with your purchase, maybe it's a sign you didn't have fun at all. Denial sucks, doesn't it?

The graphics are rather horrid. The Xbox 360 has managed to compensate by lowering the view distance to garbage and putting in even worse textures than what they already had. Own a 360? Go into Dragonsreach and cast that firestorm spell. You'll see the true meaning of **** hardware.

Basically the same. Combat is **** on bread, graphics are poor, it looks the same everywhere and there is TOO MUCH ******* BROWN.

I will say it has a much better story because it isn't just another RPG you can sum up with "Man in a standard fantasy setting trying to save the world from some huge evil because he is the chosen one for no discernible reason."
